Jen, I love your tutorials! I have used that method of joining the binding ends for a couple years now and have never been disappointed in how it fits and looks. Through trial and error, I've found that leaving the un-sewn gap between the beginning and ending wider, then folding the quilt over and securing it with Wonder clips helps free up more room to work and make it a bit less awkward.

Thank you so much for the tip about twisting the edge of the binding before sewing on the diagonal. I have used this method to finish bindings but often got the pieces twisted and would have to rip the diagonal seam out sometimes more than once! I'm looking forward to trying you trick the next time I finish a binding strip. Always enjoy you videos.

I was wondering if it might be a good idea to use that insulated lining like one would use for potholders, etc. so as to keep the casserole warm/cold? Would that work as well?

I bind in this manner. Leave a little longer tails and it isn't quite so tight. also didn't understand twisting one tail
Great idea to leave the tails longer! That's how the technique that Tammy taught us works, and we love it! We filmed a video on binding that we use now and it's a little easier (similar method, but you don't twist the tails). You can watch that tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/EaP3k_fE1LA/видео.html

What size would I need to make it to fit a 9×13in pan?
By my best guess you would cut your outer fabric, lining fabric, and fusible fleece to double the pan measurements. So all of your fabrics would measure 18"x26" and that should work fine. You will also need to cut a longer binding strip than what is listed on our free download. You can get that measurement more accurately after you have quilted the outer fabric, lining fabric, and fleece together!

Can this be used with a 9 X 13 pan?
It would probably be a bit snug but you can always add length to the measurements to adjust for your needs :)

It should! You would just measure the mat and make adjustments as necessary!

How do you make this for a 9x13?
This project was designed to accommodate a square or circular shape. At this time, we do not have a variation for this project in a rectangular shape. -Michelle
