Thanks for joining me again. In this video, we make smash burgers, I used low-carb wraps but any wrap works well with this recipe. I've wanted to share this one for a while and now I'm going low carb before my surgery I thought you might like it too.
We also take a look at how I store my veggies to last for a few weeks in the fridge.

@Honey Farmers Wife :), your Iceberg Lettuce, my Mom showed me the TRICK to remove the CORE, GIVE THE CORE SIDE END A BANG/SLAM DOWN ON YOUR CUTTING BOARD or Countertop and it will come completely out WITHOUT having to use the KNIFE that gives it the rust color like you said. You'll love it this trick works PERFECTLY quick and efficient.

The “rust” colour comes from the “milk” exuded from the cut surface same as a dandelion or milk thistle to which they are related -the flowers of a lettuce or like small thistle flowers😊

I use broccoli stocks for cream of broccoli soup or I simply dice it all and sauté with salt, pepper and butter. Very delicious and snappy. Sometimes, if I need to bulk up the amount of vegetables for dinner, I also dice up carrots to combine with the broccoli stocks. Yum!

I totally agree with prepping veggies; it definitely has cut down on waste. I'm going to try regrowing my green onions like you mentioned. You can also wrap veggies in aluminum foil and they will last a lot longer. I hit a head of lettuce against a hard surface, right on the bottom and then the core can be pulled out easily. The tacos look delicious

Me either, but some meals I prepare are keto, as others are vegetarian, vegan, Kosher, halal. I don’t do it by design, but they just fall into these categories by default. Therefore I have no problem with keto smash burgers. I use what I have on hand. If they turn out keto, so be it. Being keto isn’t a reason to stop me from making them, in exactly the same way having the word “halal” on a Vegemite jar won’t stop me buying Vegemite, nor will the word “Vegan” on a lettuce stop me from buying one, nor will “kosher” on a bread roll.

Oh, I haven't tried making big mac tacos like that! Will have to give it a go (I usually just make big mac salad).
Couple of tips from someone who has been eating dirty keto for 7 years... farrahs do a keto wrap that has 2.5g carbs per wrap for the same price. Comes in pink packaging but just the same.
The warehouse sells Atkins bread mix, usually 2 for $12 that you can make into burger buns or rolls really easily. I get 8 decent sized rolls per pack at 5g carbs per roll.
Swede makes a fantastic addition to a roast, and has about 1/3 the carbs of spuds, and half the carbs of kumara. I roast swede and pumpkin with whatever meat I'm doing, and don't feel like I'm missing out at all :)
Love the idea of chopping leeks to keep in the fridge! Mine usually just sit on the bench accusing me of laziness 😂😂

I was using keto wraps, I probably should have said. I thought I did though hahaha. I do so well on low carbs diets but I LOVE MY CARBS hehehehe

@@FarmersWifeHomestead the packet looked like a low carb (9g carbs per) pack. Still better than a flour one! 😁

Yes, I grabbed them from Briscoes, and one I got in Perth last year. I am bringing out some of my own aprons soon, so watch this space. Pretty excited about it. A viewer sent me a beautiful one with my logo on it as well. I cant wait to show you all how beautiful it is!

Here in the US I have never seen bagged mayonnaise. Our stores are still supplying it in plastic jars.

It is normally here in jars as well. I buy it in bulk and that is how it comes :-)

Hi Stacey I have a large plastic knife that if I have to cut lettuce, I will use it. Apparently the browning of the cut lettuce edge is a reaction between the metal of the knife and the lettuce at a cellular level.

Yes. Tupperware used to have one for that reason.

If you just bang the lettuce on the bench it usually dislodges the lettuce core

It is really hard to tell the taste of it as it has its own unique taste. Yes, there is a video from a couple back. You can substitute the feijoa for any other pureed fruit.
