DRIVEN FROM GRAVE! Forgotten K20 Rescued After 16 Years! - Vice Grip Garage EP24

- I found a decent 1969 GMC K20 pickup that's been sitting on a farm for 16 years. It's a factory 4 speed truck, with a posi 3:73 rear end, so of course, I just had to have it. Watch me try to get this old beauty up and running and go test on it! I just may or may not get stuck...

@@jumpinjojo Oh shut up :P
It's faactory!
I agree!!
Wouldn’t cha know? A guy was on an O O O O’reillys commercial in the middle of the video!? First commercial I’ve EVER watched on RUclips in 15 years.
same bro, i thought it was pretty funny!
Same. Then watching this episode i saw puddin's fab shop was doing was that was too funny and pretty long

Junkyard digs brought me here.
I agree. I would kill to see you two do some collab videos. You both are super funny but also very very talented. I watched this video about three times now for both entertainment and research purposes.
Minty 👌
Husqvarna Rider Minty. I wish he would make more videos
David Doering he just uploaded boi!!!!
Grandpa's chevy k10 1970 sat for 20 years, thanks to your channel got her running! All it needed was syphoning then derusting cab gas tank, blow out fuel lines with fresh fuel, fogging oil, sparks and junkyard battery. Purrs like a kitten on catnip.
My Dad was exactly like you. He was a Cadillac mechanic for 40 years and he could get ANYTHING running. Your videos keep me laughing out loud. My little Doxie watches your videos with me (mostly because he loves my lap) and he just looks at me like I’m nuts when I start laughing my butt off when everything is “perfect” and you’re getting “dipped”………HILARIOUS!!!
Has a good ol fashion Red Green show vibe to it, like it!

Yes got the same feeling
Was gonna say the same. Figured I'd check to see if I was alone. Nope! 😂
I was thinking the exact same thing while watching this. He's like a slightly more mellow Red.
Humor is on point. Really makes you stand out compared to other channels. Thnx for saving another old lady!
Thank you - doing my best !
He is a funny guy me and my wife laughed the whole video a guy could really like a video lol
What an old beauty hope you save her
Yeah, Swag. I posted last week that I was by myself in the office at the end of the day laughing like an idiot.

Re watching in 2024 so glad Derek made such a massive success.
Am I the only one that LOVES going back and rewatching these older videos?
These revivals out in the field are my absolute _favorite_ videos.
I love this show. I started wrenching on cars at 12 with my Dad and after dropping out of school at 15, was always forced to buy $200. junkers that I had to turn into daily drivers with only pocket change from crappy $5.an hr jobs. It brings back memories and the sense of accomplishment from saving a derelict old car and making it into something others admired is unbeatable. Nowadays I'm older, professional and earn enough to buy any car I want but the show takes me back and allows my hands to stay clean.
Thanks Derek!
I felt this comment
I never owned a new car. But all my rides are worthy if not better.
Great content!! Anyone who has been trying to bring old junkers back from the dead can appreciate this channel!!
This is only my second ever VGG video and I already know “That’s way too much, which is perfect” needs to be one of his t-shirts.
Been driving by that old girl for years, awesome to see it running great video subscribed
Thats neat! Thank you for subscribing
This truck was made back when the nice options actually meant a more solid truck. Heavy diffs and heavy duty clutch. 2019= 6in toutch screen stereo sun roof.
Yeah, sadly trucks ain't trucks anymore.
Trucks GM made until about 1980 were the best I've ev er owned. They were made for work, easy to repair, parts are still not expensive, and you don't need a $2000 computer to fix all 300 OBD2, ABS, TCU, & ECU issues. A lot of us do not need or want a Cadillac on a frame costing $50,000

@jackson meads Good for you, bud! I'm 17 with a 85 F150 that I'm forever upgrading. Ignition upgrade is tomorrow, then a junkyard run over the weekend for parts for a 2wd to 4x4 swap. Can't beat doing it all yourself, ya know. Keep learnin' and you won't go broke [quite so fast lol]

Thanks Chuck!
A fellar was scrolling through RUclips and came across this video. And I’ll be dipped.... loved it!
That's exactly how i found this guy.
I just realize why I love watching these videos..I get to share in the experience of getting a beautiful vehicle back on the road, but I don't have to do ANY of the work. Also I can watch the complete transformation in 30 minutes or less, and was oblivious to the 4-5 hours spent doing some wrong, then fixing it. Going to get tools and supplies you forgot. And I didn't have to sit outside in the hot sun to see it all get done!
I like your style man. When things are difficult don’t beat yourself down , make some jokes and depend on yourself. There is a lot of dudes out there who need to take notes. Thanks for your videos!
I always look forward to when a guy puts out a new vidya. And with a 4 speed/3:73 combo, I'm sure it won't be long before those dilapidated snow grips become shredded
😂
"she oughta run like a scolded coyote."---gold right there!
thanks for watching Marty
You’re getting this lucky because you’re rescuing old cars and trucks and you know what you’re actually doing!😄
What a beautiful old girl, love the front end...surely this is worth some decent rust repairs and keeping? And thanks for the giggles...batteries, air cleaners and oil just being thrown around...you make very entertaining videos, sir!
Great design on these truck inside and out
That engine is so musical !! A regular symphony of sounds.
fact!
One of my favorite channels now, you are awesome sir. I love how you keep it simple, I think alot of people forget that cars especially older cars require three things to run air, fuel and spark. Keep up the wonderful videos they sure are a hoot😀.
This was the first video I ever watched of vice grip garage
welcome to the show
When yeah feel she’s getting stuck, it’s always best to keep spinnin til the propeller shaft is diggin sod.
Love the duck tape passenger side doorjam! That Gmc is a beauty, one of my favorite body styles in a truck! Honestly, I hope you fix it correctly & treat that truck to some body repairs/ replacement panels/ new metal. She is a beauty!!!
Vice Grip Garage is so much better than anything on television - Many thanks for so much entertainment!
"That's way too much which is perfect"
Love it.
Just found your videos a couple days ago and couldn't stop watching till I got through all of them. It's great to see someone not take everything so serious. You had my side hurting from laughing so hard. Reminds me of the red green show. Always look forward to your next video.

well a guy is going through a rough patch, and this show is making me laugh and smile when not much else will.
Well like a lot of us out here that love watching you do this show, this is a gem I missed when initially binge watching your channel! It’s like reminiscing with a friend or brother on the good old times in the past! This one reminds me of an old friend that had a 69 Chevy 4 wheeler that was my drywall hanging partner. When we weren’t hanging drywall, we were off roading ! This was around 1971, in the SanFernando , Valley, Los Angeles and surrounding areas! We had a blast at work and our recreational off roading! But one thing I found out was that you can get more stuck , or stuck worse in a four wheel drive vehicle than a two wheel vehicle ! What’s crazy was we got stuck more , in town on muddy job sites than out of town moseying around exploring the local landscape! Now this Feller already knows why? You fellers figure that one out or yourselves! Well I’ll be dipped! 😂😜….
Years ago I bought a 67 C-10 long bed with a 350 and manual 3 speed. I got it real cheap because the garage only wanted what they had in it. From what I learned a customer brought it to them with a blown engine and supplied the engine he wanted put in it. When they started the new motor it didn't have any power and the owner didn't want to pay them so it set there for years . They finally got title with a mechanics lean and I bought it. When I pulled it home and took the valve covers off 4 push rods were lower than the others and rockers not touching them. My father in law was a mechanic and thought it had a bad cam But I noticed that when the engine was turned over the push rods moved up and down as much as the others but seemed too short. My father in law said no it can't be that simple. We pulled the lifters and 4 were badly worn. Put in a new set of lifters and drove it for another 6 years. Engine was still running strong when I sold it.
Best channel out there, love your humor. You are a totally awesome dude. Your not afraid to be yourself, which cannot be said of many other youtubers. Keep up the good work and please don't ever stop making vidoes! :)
Thanks Zack!
Love this channel, reminds me of being a stupid ass 20 something year old...messing around with old trucks, tractors and bikes on the farm.
Muchos love from Australia
Gives you a sense of accomplishment when you drive them from there grave don't it. Man when you get em stuck you get em stuck don't ya. Buried it to the bumper awesome . Thanks for the great videos love it just left me the old days..

There's an old antique manure spreader next to that truck. My dad has one sitting in his yard in Wisconsin. Really brings me back seeing that. Thanks!
Rewatching this one again. Such a fantastic sense of humor, and just an overall enjoyable experience. This is the kind of stuff that YT should have more of. Keep up the good work, bud. :)
Watch his 69 Chevelle one, the carwash was fantastic and funny!!!
@@garykreil5990 Yeah, I have seen it. I made that comment 3 years ago. 😉
I love vids like this, recently brought home an 84 K20 Suburban with a 4 speed that had sat for around 20 years but most of the time was in the fire department garage, it has very minimal weight reduction in the rear quarters frame was nearly mint, but engine had insane amounts of blow by I assume stuck rings but still drove and had decent power I actually drove it to work for a few weeks until it started having fuel starvation issues I was planning to run it til it blew before putting another 350 in, tried 4 different quadrafloods, New fuel pump, filters, many cans off berryman, I decided the issue was likely in the tank and parked it dropped the tank for cleaning and a new sock which I found to be choked off with crud. Swapped in another engine, mix of new and brand used parts and lines. Threw on a set of headers. Still needs exhaust but I drove it to the gas station and to town with open headers. Does great now just have to get it to the shop for exhaust!
Those are amazing vehicles, I drove one daily for 25 yrs it was the most reliable vehicle I ever had - never any major issues a few fuel pumps etc basic maint. Mine had a 305 4bbl and auto od, I kick myself for ever selling it
My first vehicle when I was 16 was the Chevrolet version of that truck, a 1970 model that I drove for 12 years. I can’t tell you how much time I spent with my knees on the radiator and my butt stuck up in the air like that working on it.
Ive also been "sitting" since 2003, Oct 4 specifically. Anywho I love this channel and everyone who stars in it. watching you revive units that just should not go is so addicting. You need to turn your talents to the human body, id like to see my body moving and driving again. Hell i'd even do 500 miles on the first go.
Glad I found you brother, you remind my of some of my family members lol, I love the show keep it up thank you
Thanks!!
I love this truck! The good thing about those 60's and 70's engines is there really isn't too much to them so they will eventually start after you've done the "process of elimination" trick.. That fan would have drove me nuts. Did you drive that home with no brakes?
Very true, thanks Jessica!
I love how he acted so surprised that it just drove right out of the hole it's been in for 16 years. It's got that good old GMC badge on it. That's back when GMC built a tough freaking truck
You never heard what GMC stands for? it means Great Mountain Climber!
From 1968 to 1972 these trucks had been built tough and all steel transfer gear run cases and Turbo 350 or Turbo 400s and the engines had been made with High Nickle_+ Iron blend .
really great videos ...glad i found them ..i have a 73 dodge D200 club cab with a 400BB that i rescued from a farm here in Florida ...got it from the original owner ...it sat for 20 years . i drive her everyday now . this show encourages people to save history ...well done Guy
Oh man you always crack me up but I appreciate you saving these old girls from there chains

By far my favorite video to date. That’s so neat seeing a sitting old truck getting up and running and driving! Love the content. I was smiling and laughing the entire time. You had me on the edge of my seat! Keep it up!!!
I love those old GM pickups from the late 60's - early 70's. That's a great find.
Love watching you, my whole family enjoys. Had a medical procedure done today, watching in the hospital

The wife was given a 72’ c20 about a month ago by her grandparents. Grandpa bought the truck off the show room. We’re really looking forward to start working on the old truck. She hasn’t run in 25 years because he blew a head gasket and never had time to fix it. On the plus side, it’s been in a garage this entire time.
Sounds like a great project! I don't mind head gaskets, gives me a excuse to throw a cam in it "while a guys there.
very heavy and thick stong frame. these trucks are well worth building on again. i did and very proud..
this was my first ever VGG video I've been addicted ever since
"She autta run like a scolded coyote"....that is amazing.
Glad you enjoy! Thanks for watching
Probably scalded not scolded, but hey I've never tried yelling at a coyote. Maybe they run pretty fast.
I absolutely love this channel and Road side Rescues!
The radiator shroud breaks from being hit by the fan blades after the motor mount breaks. I broke lots of motor mounts and dad finally got a recall in the mail to chain the motor down. After that chain tie-down popping the clutch went great and no more broken mounts.
My parents had a 71 that they got in 72. Sure wished i could track it down. The memories in that old truck. One being shaken violently between gears because my mom never knew how to drive it right lol and if it was cold....yikes. and no power steering hehe. But what i remember most? It never left us stranded. Rode in it from California to Mississippi, stayed two years then rode in it back to California from Mississippi. They finally sold it in 98. I never cried so hard over a vehicle in my life. It was like losing a family member. Id snap it up in a heartbeat if i could find it.
I love your videos! When I change my oil, as I am filling it I use the last few drops of my oil container to lube the hood latch so it opens easily. I hope this helps others out. Best to all. :)
