GMC K20 Cold Start Clean Up and Cookies! - Vice Grip Garage EP27

- You call it a cookie or a donut? Comment and let me know? Anyhoo - I finally get enough time to dig back into this sweet 1969 GMC K20. It's been sitting ever since I brought her home from the farm. I can't get enough of this truck. 4 speed and 4 wheel drive, what's better honestly? We'll go ahead and put some shine on it, then of course I've got to test on it a little bit and see how she does in the city. Think it will actually do a cookie/donut?

hell yeah. this cat is too funny. and gets shit done. i think the shovel door opening system will catch on. revolutionary ideas like that are what keeps me alive. im currently retrofitting a yugo passenger door onto a hickory handle for digging holes as needed. kinda large holes. i was inspired. the 'YUGOLER" im calling it. yeah
He just makes me rupture a stomach lining or 3😅😂

Great guy and half way educational
COULDNT agree more. I wish he had his own show. All that on the fly...come on networks...give this man a show.
Your channel is a mix of Roadkill and Red Green, showered in hill billy Mountain Dew ..........
And I love it!
I like road kill but there trying too hard to be a tv show. Still a good show but not what they were 4 years ago
Also Home Improvement
I used to watch the Red Green show all the time.
ChipCool Top points for the Red Green reference!!! A true Canadian treasure!
OMG! Red Green meets Roadkill! Priceless!!!!
Funniest and most entertaining automotive channel on youtube. This man needs his own TV show.
hell NO,, WE NEED him,,,, "RIGHT NOW!"
Nah, TV would ruin it. RUclips he can do what he likes
Reminds me of the Red Green show
The beauty of this era is that he HAS a tv show!! 😊👍👍
My favorite part "just preparing my statement for when I get pulled over!" Junkyard Digs and Thunderhead289 sent me to the right guy!
Like “ there is 2 things that don’t lie yoga pants and kids!!!
"Poverty Chrome"... Yup, I'm stealing that one!
That was good. Im looking at your comment as he said it. Lol
3M Complaint Department
Dear Mr Grip
After investigating your complaint we have come to the assumption use of our products for major bodywork is totally fine .
Failure was down to not using twice as much tape .
As a standard always use twice as much tape .
Major body mount applications may require a cold snack between layers to improve the look .
Thank you for your continued custom and excessive use of our products .
Lots of love .
M3 application team .
My dad has a 4" crescent wrench he's been carrying in his pocket for at least 40 years. It has come in handy many times.
Me too...42 yrs ago used it as a roach clip too. Good heat sink. Never a burnt lip.
I've been carrying one for years and the little pocket screw driver too.what can I say I'm lazy I don't like having to walk across the garage to get the right tool. Lol
Thats a good name for that pickup.
Thank you for your service John and any other military people. Thank you as well.
I actually said, "Well, I'll be dipped!" today. Thank you!
Just make sure you put your back into it, you'll see what I mean. Try it right now.
So did I !!
What you don't know is it's really, "I'll be dipped in hog shit". Old Iowa boy here, back in the day.
Also, we sent all of the bad Norwegian's up to Minnehsota.....
@@greenhometony The good ones is in Wisconsin

you’re one of the most underrated youtube channels, keep it up man.
Do some more fixin and give ole “big bad John” a new life. Beautiful truck. 4x4. Heavy suspension. That’s a keeper.
I love that hat! Matanuska Maid began its history in Alaska in 1936!
I guy could get some LMC sheet metal and patch on her a little bit.
Or just use the free duct tape.
👍
@@insertname1470 True there are few problems that can't be solved by a little poverty chrome.
@@Shane-Singleton We both know he'll never do that
Why? A few road signs and license plates that is nice metal!
Kids love it too!
You're awesome dude...keep making these videos..you make my day every time..!!👏👏
Thank you Jorge, appreciate you watching and supporting the channel
I can't get enough of your videos. I like them so much it has motivated me to get an old 79 F150 that has been rotting out in the trees at my dad's farm fixed up. I made a comment to my dad that the rusted out Bat Tree tray was Fak Tree. He shot me some side eye and made my day. How many cold snacks do you think it ought to take a guy and his 80 year old dad to get that truck back on the road after 12 or 20 years of sitting in the cedars?
"Big Bad John" is an awesome name. Thanks for your service John! This channel has inspired me. I just bought an '89 C1500 Cheyenne for $800, and looking forward to doing some customizing and testing on it. Keep up the good work!
awesome!! Good luck! Great trucks
Thank you john for your service and the bad ass hub caps. I love this build. Keep er up bud. This is the workin mans build.
I love watchin you. My hubby and I just can't stop laughin, not only because your fricken hilarious but because all you do is so relatable to something we've all done.
How do you only have 162k subscribers? Great stuff! Glad we aren’t neighbors or I am pretty sure I would be way too busy working on junk and drinking cold snacks to go to work. Really enjoy the episodes with Jessica, you really turn the hamming around right on up when a girls around a guy.
My dude! You had me rollin less than 2 seconds into the video when the mirror gave way and you almost fell...the smile on your face before that was priceless 🤣🤣🤣💪🤜🤛
Well I'll be dipped! Off early on a Friday and VGG has a new vidja! Bud Light and my garage. Perfect Friday. Best content on YT!
Keep it coming!! Hilarious and can't help but notice the resemblance to Red Green. You would make him proud with that duct tape body mount fix.
Derek, you’re a natural showman! Just love what you so, silly or straightforward. Thank you 😎
I put your videos on when I'm asked to cover an automotive technology class, im normally a high school history teacher but my auto tekkies unanimously love your channel the best!
Poor old truck. That's not what it was built for. For Heaven's sake. Great video.
“A guy got a pile of tires in the back that’ll make Mario Andretti Jealous” I love your humour man😂😂
"Just need a sign here, there, here, there, here, there, there, here, there...... And right there." I lost it!! I'm using that idea bud!
This has to be one of the funniest VGG videos yet. The first second sets the general tone. That's always good to know, what you're in for . We always called them donuts.
'Poverty chrome' - genius. Nice threads too.
Everyone should keep a shovel on their key ring.
Sweet!!!!!
😂😂😂
Lmao! Yeah
The pressure washer inside was priceless! You made me laugh out loud !
Glad you enjoyed!
I say keep it and give it some tlc. I have a 1960 K20 Apache with the 235 that’s been redone. Love these trucks and people love them to. Every time I go driving in it I get a whole bunch of smiles, friendly horn honks and people waving! Nothing better than cruising around on a Sunday
Never enjoyed media more than this content, and seriously.. mentioning Vern Gosdin multiple times shows just how much character this man has. Country is country, and Vern Gosdin is the standard.
Kudos, I enjoy every minute.
Hi, I refill the dead batterys with sulfuric acid and then I charge them with a strog charger. greatings from Switzerland and keap them videos coming! 👍👍👌👌
Switzerland, awesome! Thanks for watching Daniel
I gotta agree, 4 spd 4 wd you gotta keep Big Bad John (BBJ) on the road. Those glasses are a cross between some Blue Blockers and Arnold's T1000 shades!
Know this is an older vid, but I laughed heartily when you were trying to get the window down because my son has a '70 C20 that the drivers window doesn't wanna go UP! Love your videos. Keep making us smile and your family too!
Showed my wife some of the videos. She loved them, said you have a whole Red Green vibe going on. Myself, I enjoy the hell out out of each one! This one may be the funniest one yet!
Thanks appreciate you two!
"poor man's chrome" - I never heard duct tape called that before! That's hilarious! I love that the cab cleaned up so nice! Nice project car for someone!
*asked what I did on a Friday afternoon*
Me: watched Derek drive a truck around in circles. Time well spent!
Yep ,I like the name Big Bad Jon..Keep a wrenching on it,cause it is a keeper..
Always looking forward to the next video. You remind me of my dad, he loved working on the old stuff.
Like you he could get anything to run. He laughed & had a fun time.
I was legally blind but it was fun being around him while he worked on the vehicles of old. ❤️ It!
The world map shirt with the sunglasses trying to do a burnout in a truck that is falling apart and was barley running had me rolling 🤣😳
***** I think you should weld an old time winch and boom (which you can find in the back of old gas stations or in truck junkyards) in your floorless pick-up bed and turn it into a "NOT FOR HIRE" private tow truck. This way you can recover some real undrivable junk cars and not worry about how you're going to get it home! *****
I watched you rebuild a small block on the cheap, you are a very smart and serious man, but funny as hell, too, keep those videos coming, you truly are a star and yup that's factory.
Thanks Randy, appreciate that!
Wow, thought I had seen every VGG vidja there was, but NOPE!! Here's a gem that RUclipss popped up today -- had never seen it.
My old 68 gmc stepside had a bed like that. Just threw in some plywood and used an old pallet to hold it down. Looked factree. Nice show of respect for John and his service 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Everytime you say battree I just lose it. 😂🤣😂🤣 By far the best car show on the old interwebs. 👏🏻👌🏻😎
hah, thank you!!
Battreee boy says no cheap charger will do in his E lectric dodge coronet. I think you and he are related. I charge with a solar panel and charge controller.
Hey that Matanuska Maid hat from the old dairy here in Alaska. Thats pretty cool.
Best damn truck I ever had was a 1969 Chevy, 3/4, SB 350. Had a 12' camper, and pulling a boat, I could accelerate up any hill, solid as a rock!
I had a 68 GMC in the late 70's. When you couldn't get the door to latch closed, it brought back memories. Love your youtube channel.
Wife: "What the hell are you laughing at?"
Me: "Can't talk... coffee running out of my nose... choking on my own spit!"
LOL!!!
Lmao!! Omg dude opening that door with a shovel was funny as hell..lol..You're so cool man love your videos!!
Yeah I didn't see that coming just a picture of the door and wham!!!! shovel.
Thank you Bruce
You remind me of Chevy chase 😂😂 you’re hilarious dude. Easily one of my favorite people on RUclips thank you for the amazing content!
Thanks for watching Logan!!
I love how you honored John and veterans. Thank you
You're a king among men, please never stop
Thanks Will, you're a rockstar
hey thanks for the video, a guy can lern so much with these educashunal veedio! Now I'm going to get some liquid motivation and get my yard art operational again!!
thatta guy! Go fix on something!
You're giving me a whole load of respect for old American machines like this , they just seem so tough and practical , course it helps that a guy aint too fussy .
I am so proud to own an all original 70 K20 I LOVE all the factory options these trucks had IE: np205, HO52, and mine in particular came optioned with factory AC --wow
I love when your doing a burnout the right turn signal starts blinking and the left headlight starts to blink it must be one of those extra special options on those trucks LOL!!!
haha 🤷♂️😁
I was dying..
Yep! Every once in a while, it shakes to metal ground. That's factory.....
“There.... That’s factry” lol
Factree.
I love when you just pretend you didn't see the bad stuff.
Now thats how u clean a truck inside and out lol love it.....
Always look forward to seeing your videos! You hit it out of the park every time! Had me in stitches! Great job! Keep em’ coming!
Just about pooped when you pried the door open with the spade!
Poverty chrome fixes are the best. I was in tears of laugher when a guy was trying to fix that aerial 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am a fan of the Middle East and you are a practical man and pills and admirers of your videos😍😍😍😍😁😝
Thank you sir!
This is one of the best things on the interwebs - love your work
Matanuska Maid! A call out to the good ol' MATSU!
Got lots of milk crates in my garage
From dead I use a CTEK MXS 5.0 - it's the only charger I could find that would charge from very low voltage. Most lead acid batteries bend their plates when they go that low, but some can be brought back. It's a conditioner too so you can leave it on and it'll keep your batteries in top condition.
This video is the first this I watched this morning. Iv been Laughing non stop. Theres no better way I can possibly think of then to watch your videos they put a huge smile on my face! I can tell there's tons of people that truly appreciate you and your style of entertainment and the fact that you actually know what your doing. At lest more then most people I know. I have a 89 f250 with a 460 efi . I know its not what you like to work on. But that dosen't madder. So please don't stop anytime soon! Love ya brother!!
Been watching you for a little while now. You remind me of the Red Green Show keep up the good videos thanks for the laughs
Thanks Jeff, appreciate you!
Spot on dude! he is funny af. I love this channel. All he is missing is some good ol duck tape.😉 And we are golden!!🤣😂🤣😂😉 red green is proud!!!!!!

Besides being a mechanical wizard, you keep me watching. Your never plans. Your descriptive narraration keeps us informed.. Your cleaning is hilarious. Keep up the good work..😊😊
I didn't get the finish. You sure give her the old one too and it takes me back.. thank you for all that you do Derek. You are very unique human being. With a great soul
Well I'll be dipped if our trucks ain't the same color, mine was my grandfathers that he bought new, a 1969 C10, originally seafoam green but he got it painted your color in 84, and it sat in a barn since then and now I am restoring it.
Love these old 67-72 chevys. I grew up in em. My dad owned several of them. Has a restored 71 long box now.
Just watched this and towards the end, I see you wearing the "ole Matanuska Maid hat", which came from the only dairy farm in Alaska, great! Thanks Derek for the memories!
I remember dad owning a 71 Custom Camper GMC. Corvette blue and minty as can be. Love your channel!!
mechanically inclined comedic genius this is by far my favorite channels I'll be dipped laughter really is the best medicine anyways I use a dual bank battery charger for my lowlow its made by deltran they also have a maintainer I believe its called battery tender junior its made to bolt on directly to your battery similar to like a trickle charger you could easily plug it in to charge without having to take it out of the tray and what not definitely good for preserving batteries
I could just imagine you neighbors watching you making this video :-)lol thanks for the video can't wait till the next just made my day lol
Thanks for you’re channel! Keep it up, your attitude and lack of cussing is inspiring. Finally a funny channel I can watch with my boys! Thanks a scoche!
When I lived in Phoenix Arizona many years ago..... There was a car lot somewhere on Van Buren Street and it was called Miracle Motors... And their logo was if it's a good car it's a miracle
"
I don't know where this channel has been! Finally youtube gets my feed right! Just subscribed!
Another awesome video. Always some great humor along with marginal automotive repairs and advice. You have to be a real car guy to get the full effect. Keep the excellence coming.
Thank you, appreciate you watching
I’m restoring a ‘68 K20, and her name is, “Orange Nightmare.” Thanks for the laughs and inspiration. 🔧
From one John to another John, Thank you for your Service!!
i almost spit out my tea when he was sucking air out the crack of the window
haha, my wife walked by me as he was sucking air through the cracked window and she asked me " what the hell is that guys deal ?"
I remember doing that when I was in the back of my dads dart with my 2 brothers and 3 step kids and dad and his girlfriend filling up the car with cigarette smoke with the ac on.i popped out the triangle window and stuck my lips out
Hahahahah as!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀🤗🤗
Omg, I'm dying. My dog is wondering what is going on.
I thought I was the only one to power wash an interior. Well done !
ranger02 smith I had an old dodge pick up I did the same. Worked great!! It’s factry 🤣
Awesome. I'm going back to old video's that I didn't see. This is great!!
Oh my... a Matanuska Maid hat? As someone from Palmer, Alaska (where Matanuska Maid was founded), I'm so excited to see that outside of my state.
I've slept very little since discovering this channel.
Love it
Love your RUclips vids. Keep them coming !
Love your attitude ! You always put a smile in my face with your comments. They are funnier cause i translate them in french . Robert, from Quebec, Canada.
Hey Derek I like that ventilated hauling box, keeps what ever that you are hauling nice and cool! Genius pure Genius 👏👏
I get so many lols from your vids, great vids brother.
Flush the tank, put a rebuilt carb on that sucker, fix the clutch, do a video on those break thangs with them injector cylinders and such, and get them road signs and she's factory, bubba.
We used to use Easy-off to strip paint and grease off the frame for spray painting on cars like you work on. It will strip everything if you leave it for awhile.
Really love the body style of these trucks. My dad had a 72 chevy with a 350 and 3 on the tree manual. Powerful truck and could smoke the tires.
