ABANDONED Ford F250 First Start in 24 years - Vice Grip Garage EP39

- Опубликовано: 26 сен 2019
- I bought this forgotten 1967 Ford F250 on a farm hours north of where I live. The truck was last plated 24 years ago. I attempt to revive the old truck, and drive it off the property! Plenty of ups and downs with this project! Overall, the trucks in pretty decent shape considering it was left for dead. Think it will start and I'll make it off the property under it's own power? Watch and FIND OUT!

Just finished this vid. Best 40+ minutes I’ve spent on RUclips in years. Good vid, fantastic Dad. Subscribed.
Thank you - that's an awesome comment. Appreciate your subscription!
@@ViceGripGarage I really enjoyed this with my morning coffee. I really liked how you had Bradley so involved. That kid will remember being partners with you in that fix that all his life. That inclusion is so important.
Agreed
"fantastic Dad" Makes me feel good to see this kid hanging out with his Dad, getting educated on stuff. All the stuff I've learned by working on projects with my Dad is invaluable.
Congratulations on being a good father. In my case, my "father" never materialized.
"Thanks for helpin' me, bud. You did really good today. I'm proud of ya." Best part of the entire video! If more dads remembered to do that, more boys would grow up into dads that remembered to do that.
Thank you sir, glad you enjoyed
Yep, that was precious. My father and I had those kind of memories together as well, but mostly either together under the hood in the garage, or under the hood on the side of the road, or under the hood in some parking lot. Yep, it was a '71 Fiat Special 124 sedan, and yep, not much more needs to said other than it definitely was a "Fix It Again Tony" Special 😂. Great times for sure! If I only could relive the early to mid 70's again...(sigh).
JusBidniss yes best part !!
:(
I was just going to post the same thing. And he has a kid that's having fun learning to take care of himself
"I dont know nothing about Fords" proceeds to tell us the bore diameter and stroke and a little history on the engines lol
I caught that, humble for effect anyone, love this channel
It's true, he doesn't know nothing.
Then licks dipstick
"I'm proud of you." Important words that a son needs to hear from his father.
Esp after earning them
Yep. Never heard them myself.
I'm a 65 year old grandpa and some of the best memories of my life were laying on the cold garage floor with my dad getting some kind of piece of junk running. I still remember being about Bradley's age and smashing Dad's thumb with a hammer while "helping" him reline brakes on an old Renault Dauphine. He maintained his cool and said, "Let's finish the job." You're making memories with your son that will last him a lifetime.
Haha that made me laugh man.
Mostly I appreciated Dad telling his son how he was proud of him. That boy will never forget that day.
Reminds me of my childhood. Except dad swore a lot more and tools tended to grow wings. Lol. It is great seeing him bring the next generation of wrench monkeys along
carl l .. my dad was the same and you know the scary thing.. I’m the same too .. your comment made me smile and remember my old man ..I miss him
Hope one day my dad will say that to me lol
@@AndyL940 I'm glad I could stir up some good memories bud.
Well its been recorded for all eternity so I don't think he'll forget it.
So that's what it's like to have a good father. Well done sir.
Thank you for the kind words, appreciate you watching
Relatable
But his favorite slogan on a shirt I don't know
Right in the feels.
Agreed.... I know exactly what I mean
My dad passed when i was very young. Hardly any memories of him. Your son will really appreciate these times with you when he is older. You are a very good man & father. A real American hero !
My Dad died when I was twelve. I feel your pain. I"m sixty two years old and it never goes away completely.
I built a 67 F150 for my Dad from the frame up when I was 15 actually did it twice because the first frame was bent I still know every bolt and nut and sizes on those trucks my Dad taught me what to do since he was badly injured in a car accident the year before building that truck with him was one of the best times of my life he bragged to everyone in town about how I built that truck he passed in 2011 miss him everyday the memories and lessons you and your son made with this truck are priceless great video Derrick
I am 47 yrs young and I wish I had a good dad to show me some good things....Nice to see a father and son walking around in life together.
Thanks buddy, glad you watched
Thanks for being patient! Who's joining me in live chat Friday!?
Why am I not seeing the join button? I would love to join your channel
A Ford in a F.O.R.D (Field Of Rusty Dreams) Not sure if I can do Friday, Friday is usually wobbly pop day. A guy probably shouldn't operate a confuser while he's under the alfluence of incohol . I got myself half hammered once watched a a video a while ago, some guy ran his battery down trying to start a Mitts-a-bushy rice burner. I tried giving him a boost over the inter webs and fried my wife's confuser, figured I must have hooked the cables up backwards, it only smoked for an hour.
Be careful in that tall grass, there could be some of them Danger Noodles hiding there. I found myself in a similar situation not long ago, I saw one in the grass got the ax and chopped it up in 20 pieces, looks like I finally found the garden hose I lost last year
Oh well, what do you do.
Looks like Saturday is not a good day for me either, promised the wife I'd shave her back...What are you doing on Sunday?
Saddened by the wait
Ill be there
Ill be there
Dad's proud of Bradley, and so am I. Instead of sittin around with his face buried in a tablet or phone, he's out helpin a guy get a classic truck runnin and movin. Way to go young man.
"Look at that mosquito, it's a big one." Proceeds to zoom in on a spider.
I love this channel
Thanks for telling the kid that he done good and that you are proud of him.
Yessir - credit when credits due round the farm here
@@ViceGripGarage something scarce around growing up.
He beats him off the camera.
Jeff Banfield you were obviously hit as a kid
@@jeffbanfieldsflwr3537 That's a pretty fucked up thing to say.
Your son had good timing on the starter, when you’d give him signals/orders/direction, he was spot on. Never late, never early. A good listener. I’m a crane operator and I notice folks with these qualities. Good job dad.
Thanks Alan, just read him your comment sure made him smile
Amazing what kids can do when they are not stuck behind a mobile phone...
Dreamers.. Were better than you all.
strangers what if they're using phones to watch videos like these?
Blake, run on sentence bad, punctuation good. Might wanna read a book as you suggested. I do both the phone and I read.
You're a good Dad. My Dad would have yelled at me to get out of the way 15 times when crap didn't go well. Then, take over and mess it up.
My dad used to do exactly that. I was always told I wasn’t worth anything. I actually used to believe that.
My dad would have slapped me on the back of my head, called me stupid and told me to get out of his face..
Bad as your dads were you still learned a lesson - not to be that kind of dad !!!
@@lorismith621 Oh my God, Lori..?
Please shut-up..
Same
Wish my Dad had been as supportive and positive when we were working on our farm's equipment, not very happy memories. Great to see you showing the little guy the right way to do things.
used to go to my friends property once a month over the weekend and hes dad used to throw tools and scream like some wild mountain animal caught in a trap ,he would abuse himself by tearing at hes throat and making deep scratches in there when he stripped a nut or hes socks were too tight ,man was a nightmare to be around just awful
Ah memories. I remember being 11 and helping my Dad. One of my favorites was holding the side of a Camaro door up that was to heavy for me and getting the ol' "Hold the F**king door! Hold it steady God**mnit!" and then it slips from my grasp and the wise words "Get the F**K out of here" spill from his mouth. He's 75 now. Guess who's not there for him......
"You did really good today. I'm proud of ya" Your fathering is the best part of this video. I love the way you include your son, not just drag him along but let him do cool stuff and feel a part of it. Perfect. Regards from a fellow Minnesotan.
"If you do it wrong the first time, you learn faster". I need that on a t-shirt!
Seriously!!!! This needs to be VGG’s next shirt!!!
Story of my life lol
My 71 had that set up with the removable filter cartridge
hah, always seems to come around to, "damn, shoulda just half assed it first" 🤷♂️
I'd buy it
Your son knows more about cars than most mechanics I know.
Your son is very smart. You must be very proud!
Happy Father’s Day to all! Glad to watch this one today. Good memories of working on and old Ford with him.
hes gonna remember these times when youre long gone and hes an old man. 👍
I sure hope so Joe
That's how you live forever.
Just make sure to teach him not to litter lol
@Phantom Alpha That's what I used to think of 'old junk'. Completely different perspective now!
Kid learns something. All I learned from my dad was how bad am I holding a flashlight lol
haha... yeah I think we all start there
Patryk737 this one always sticks with you
Haha always with the flashlight
Yep, like Eric Foreman on 'That 70's Show".
Lol, that brought back memories!!
Dad; can you see that alright?
Me; oh yeah!
Dad; good, cause I can't see a dam thing!
:)
It's really amazing how much he manages to accomplish by banging on carbs with wrenches.
I noticed you started out by clearing a path. Then teaches your how to clear a path on his own. He may be a rare find at the rate other “parents” are teaching their kids. Good on y’all.
Thanks
I don’t think there is anything more American than a father and son driving an old single cab pickup on some dirt roads while the sun sets
and U forgot their faithful dog MAX in thepickup bed
wow I can't believe you said that ,,,that meant so much thank you so much
Amen!!
He sounds Canadian lmao

Love that Bradley is being taught the basics and skills at such an impressionable age. You are a good dad!
Thank you, really do appreciate that
I would love to have this opportunity with my boy and will have a project with him to teach him its ok to work with your hands. Well done mate. It's this sort of thing your boy will remember.
I love you vids, as a auto tech for 50 years I can relate, I had my grandson to help me, now as a 71 year old disabled cancer survivor you bring joy to my days Thanks dude!!!
When I was a teenager around 35 years ago, I was taught to use part of the cardboard box the points came in as a rough guide. It usually worked well enough to get things going until finer adjustments could be made, much like what you did in the video.
This hit me in the heart. Great dad son moments. You are living the dream.
for some reason i teared up after a bit. Awesome memories in the making here.
Love you dude and love the videos! Hope you keep it going!!
When they first got it fired and he says what do you think of that bud it definitely brought me back to being a kid...he will remember that day forever
Grow a pair
Hit me to the heart as well. Thank you.
You know that this stuff is literally making your kids childhood right? You're doing it right man.
Thanks buddy
That is how you raise a boy into a self sufficient, caring, hard working man that can provide for his family. Beats teaching them how to play video games and live off the government.
@@jcraws7978 Man, you are soooo right about that! This is how it should be.
did a good job praising him too, everyone likes be recognized for job well done esp kids
I grew up doing the same thing with my dad, working on our old farm trucks and tractors. I’m 20 now, still love doing it. There’s nothing more rewarding than reviving some old derelict junk that hasn’t been touched in decades in my opinion. If I could make a living dragging rigs out of fields and making them run, I’d sure do it.
What a great Dad! Love the high 5s with Brad and the last comment "Did good today, proud of you." Big smile on Brad's face from that comment. Way to go Dad and Brad!
You're the best dad in the world, Derek!
Love this channel! Learnin' and laughin'....

Someday a guy named Bradley will look back and say this was one of the best days of his life. Look to the sky and Tell God how much he misses those days.... Great job guys... Totally Awesome work...
Thank you for watching and your awesome comment
You're the dad I wish I had growing up. You're doing it right man and I sure hope they appreciate the kind of father they have. Great video and keep'em up!
Thank you sir!!
Very nice words and very true. I know his son will remember because I do. I'm an old man now but I still remember working with my dad when I was about 10-12 as we swapped engines and transmissions many times in our old truck, and I would give everything I have have ever had to go back and do it all over again. This man is planting seeds that become great memories.
Watching your vid clips in random order irrespective of when they came out...enjoy your satirical commentary and totally respect how you are raising your son..I'm a grandfather and it's nice to see a positive influence on children..Keep it going my man..it's these kinds of values that restores my faith in man...
Thank you sir
Such a great thing for Brad to have someone like you for a dad. Always learned with either a feeler Guage if you had one or otherwise a business card slid did the trick.
"I don't know anything about Ford's" .... Proceeds to name off engine stats more easily than me trying to remember my kids birthdays
I've owned my fair share of Fords and I still couldnt name half the parts I had to replace ..luckily they are easy to fix.
Kevin Jackson I’ve alwase heard you should always repair not replace 👍
@@dat_ford_guy2051 I mean repairing them sparklelaters may be more difficult than replacing them.
🤣🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I caught that 2, I had to pause a moment and realize his sarcasm, very funny. LOL.
Really cool. Also really cool for a father son project.
When he popped the hood and there was a Ford straight six, a guy knew it would start and run fine. One of the all time great engines.
Sure did a great job!
They were amazing motors. I wish Ford and Chevy could reproduce today their half ton trucks from this period exactly as they were back then. They would sell millions of them. The Government would not allow that, though. The Government needs to let Americans just do American things.
Doesn't know anything about fords, continue to tell us all about the inline 6 models lol
They were good engines. I had a Ford with a fuel-injected inline-six and despite the miles, ran like a champ. Due to the low HP and heavy weight of the vehicle and the automatic transmission, I typically either had the pedal planted to the floor or totally off the pedal. I regret getting rid of that van. I got rid of it due to troublesome electrical issues. It had a short somewhere I couldn't find it. I finally said screw it and sold it.
@@ViceGripGarage 300 cid six.bulletproof
I love the fact that you get your son involved/ in training in projects! my daughter was wanting to be out helping me change plugs and wheels, adjust valve clearance etc on my old Austin Mini when she was 6 ... she's in her 20's now and dont need no stinking man to put up her shelves or fix on things. She's got her own tool box and not afraid to use it!
This is definitely one of my top 5 VGG videos. Brings back memories of working on vehicles with my Dad and Grandfather.
Still my favourite VGG episode. Bradley’s got quite a Dad. Goals for every parent out there. Good on ya, Derek
thank you Dan
In this sad day and age of society it is so Awesome to see someone raising their kid to be a contributor to reviving the dead. Props to you for instilling your morals into your son. Some people may not have seen it but to me, this is American as it can get. Rock on Guy.
Tanks Clint appreciate that
Oh stfu. The same of old stupid rhetoric, “They don’t make things like they used to”.
Same old bs the previous generation says about the new one.
@@headers12 youd rather have parents not give a shit about their kids and let them play videogames all day long and not teach them anything rather than having parents like vicegrip who are teaching their kids how to use common sense, life skills, and how to be a decent human being.

Best comment of the whole episode
Cool- what kind did you use?
Love to see it clean
Had a buddy in high school with the exact same truck. I had a fully restored 71 myself. Was my first automobile and I loved it. I miss my dad.
this video it's a little bit like life... some laugh, some tears and some elbow grease makes it meaningful... you're a good dad Derek, that kid will grow a good man
Loved this, my father was a mechanic and a good one, lost him at 13 and never got a chance for him to teach me what he knew, but self-learning slowly. The Boy done good!
Damn, I hope to have adventures with a little man like that someday. You're the best example of the kind of father every man should strive to be! Keep up the good work
Thank you Peter, that's kind

Love the videos when you bring one of your sons with you. I have three sons. Two in there early 40's now and one in his early 50's. Tugs at my heart to see you out there with the boys. God Bless.

yeah
I drove a 1972 F350 with a 300 six and a four speed with low first gear. It was a 12’ dump bed with five foot high sides. We used to deliver 14 cubic yards of bulk cypress mulch with that thing. It wasn’t severally overloaded, great!
That engine never failed to start and haul whatever we threw at it. Great vehicle. Thanks for another awesome video
My parents had an old 67 F250 with a 390 for just about as far back as i remember. My grandpa got it for them when i was little. My dad used it as a back up work truck. My mom used it as her back up daily. We would put an air mattress in the back and take it to the drive in movies. I loved it. Unfortunately they didnt really care for it and got rid of it right about when i started driving. I was sad to see it go. Id kill to get one like it some day just for nostalgia. This video brings back great memories
I swear to God, you're kids are going to look back one day years from now and realize they had the best dad ever.

One of your best videos yet, I'm 26 and jealous I wish I had that kind of relationship with my dad. Learned most of what I know from teaching myself RIGHT ON!
Sometimes teachin yourself ain't so bad. Glad you enjoyed buddy
Best dad on youtube, gives me hope for tomorrow’s generation. Keep it up man 👍🏻
"Bradley knows the drill ... we get up in there - goes ahead and hits me and stop." LOL
I'm not a mechanic I'm a 25+ exp carpenter I've always driven old beater work trucks and do about 90% of maintenance/fixes on them.
Anyone I've talked about it think it's crazy but I take it as a challenge if my truck breaks down and scabbing it together to get it home. I see now other people get it. I always haul way too many tools, fasteners, random wire, scrap metal years of accumulated junk.
These videos are like golden gifts of great essential wisdom and knowledge essential to my continued life success.
Thank You for such kind generosity of your transcendent knowledge and wisdom.
