    I'd caution against using one aluminum and one rubber bushing for the steering rack. Most of the force is going to be reacted through the side with the aluminum bushing, since the rubber will flex. If they were both solid or both rubber the force would distribute more evenly, but with one of each you're creating the potential for problems. /$.02

      You are absolutely correct. My neighbor who installed the RCLT HD about a month ago broke the Rack & Pinion in half since he installed the supplied aluminum offset bushing that came with the rest of the parts. The rubber bushing will absorb the “shock loads” in his case the side load had nowhere to go, but into the main “BODY”of the rack which caused a major crack and loss of hydraulic fluid. He ended up buying another Land Cruiser 200 Rack Pinion and this time I helped him to drill a new location for the factory bushing/barrel mount for the new rack.

    I just looked, this kit is $7k and about to go up to $7500. And then you still have to buy a whole new steering system and other parts to go with it.
    In short, you better have two 4Runners because you'll have to sell one to afford this.
    Honestly, even if these are almost as good as a solid axle swap, I think a solid axle swap might even be less expensive (if you can do the labor yourself) and more capable.
    But if you can afford it and just want to keep the IFS, maybe for pre-runner type driving, then more power to you.

    Looks like you guys need to replace the front core body mounts. They seem to have play in the video.

    Great video! What would you say are the ride differences between the RCLT kit and the one from Total Chaos?

      @sherpamotorsports  2 года назад +2

      The main thing is how much more abuse it can handle. Also, the arms are hitting rock and other things much less being higher clearance which is a major ride improvement. The cycling of the suspension feels similar. We have noticed we don't belly out as often in g outs which is nice.

    since i recently blew ur front diff and this kit comes with bigger front CV’s do u think that the diff will present itself to be the weakest link after upgrading all the surrounding components ?

    • @sherpamotorsports
      @sherpamotorsports  2 года назад

      We run upgraded CVJ axles and have had a couple axle failures as well as a diff failure. Depends on the stress type of whatever is causing the break. If you are at droop/stuff/full steering lock etc. It's not as simple as this will break or that will break. They are all bound to at some point under heavy abuse just depends on when and how.

    Looks heavier than your last LT setup. More unsprung weight which is bad
