I drive neither Toyota or IFS but if I did this would be a really valuable insight. Basically the quality we all want to make ourselves but never have the patience to do. 😅
Excellent comparison!!! I really appreciated your nuanced summary of why you decided to switch out. It was great to hear how your style of driving impacted your decision. I like the idea of prepping a car to go fast but there is a limit to how many dollars I am willing to throw at things. Great job!!!
You do a great job of explaining the technical information so that most could digest and use it to make decisions. Quality suspension manufacturers should invite your opinion and those that make nothing more than a " lift Kit" for mall crawling big tires may fear it.. The manufacturer should just be honest about their intentions but the price of a kit pretty much tells that story. Anyone should see that the time it takes you to compile your data is major. I doubt many lift companies invest this much but installing and reinstalling parts, raising vehicles and all involved is a lot of work and will reflect in the price of a system. The Yota guys especially should really appreciate your work..
Great job my man! Something to think about when Dirt King pushes the wheel forward they limit the cv angles since it’s no longer centered, which is why their axel shaft is longer to help accommodate that change addressing the plunge as well.
Thank you so much for such a detailed and well thought out comparison. I can't imagine how much time went into this effort, but wow! This has to be the best explanation and critique out there. Bravo Sir! I've subscribed!
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen on this subject thank you very much for taking the time in doing it. You help me make my decision on which one I will be going with when I upgrade my suspension an upper and lower control arms. Thank you very much.
Have watched your videos to date and subscribed. Thinking out loud here, it's one thing that you understand all this, it's quite another that you have the ability to relate it to all of us. Thanks, and well done.
in regards to the cv axle topic. When you have a cv axle that is shorter and slides inside the inner tripod housing aka the housing on the differential not the hub. when it is extended out while in a full doop situation if you are heavy on the gas pedal or get into a bouncing situation it can shatter that entire inside housing . Yes I have def done that before. Not on my FJ but I have done it several times on a lifted 2 door tahoe bc the lift it had caused the cv's to be at a bad angle just sitting normal but when it got to offroading in any situation such as I described. BOOM... I have installed the Total Chaos +2 inch long travel on my 2010 fj and I love it.
Such great data. Thanks for all this. I have Dirt King lower arms in stock length and you have me curious about wearing them out quicker due to positive caster. After 20,000 miles, I took it all apart and noticed that the bushings had take some shape of LCA bolt hole. Not necessarily deformed, but more than likely normal wear for 4+ degrees of caster. Maybe I'll just replace them next teardown.
Thanks! I’d say if the bushings aren’t torn. Don’t bother replacing them. Delrin is thermoplastic and will stress relax/creep. So it taking the new shape might actually bear the load better (just my speculation lol). I used to have total chaos +2 LT with poly bushings. They would start tearing at the end surface where it contacts the frame brackets.
Thanks so much. You really cut through the fluff and break everything down with facts. I'll be installing a long travel suspension this summer as soon as I take delivery of my new TRD Offroad this summer. Great job presenting this information!
Awesome video. This is the first video I have seen with proper comparison and testing on off road products. You got something good here man! Hope you keep it up!
You just made me feel much better about my purchase of my dirt king set up. Reading and researching the differences I chose dirt king because of the reputation and price along with their design. But I didn’t know anything like this about them. Thank buddy
Having paid almost 6K for a full mid-travel kit I wish I would have done a +2 long travel kit, the amount of actual articulation from a mid travel kit is barely more than stock. I’m checking out all the options leaning towards a JD fab kit. Camburg also has a +2 kit called Trail Series that uses OEM mid travel coil overs. Thanks for the super helpful comparison here🤙🏽
Bravo on a great comparison! My 93 Hilux runs Total Chaos 3.5 with triple bypass so I am not in the market for either of these kits but I sincerely enjoyed your video. Excellent job going over the technical issues on each of these and all the 'little' details to consider.. Liked, Subd' and looking forward to your next video.
Keep em coming buddy! Your videos are awesome sauce! Have a 3rd gen 4runner, and your videos really help me with making decision on what i need fpr my build! Keep up the GREAT work!
Yes i would love to see a future video on the major differences of LT IFS vs. stock style lifts, and this video was well composed and you were very informative on all the hot topics of the comparison
Without rubbing a LT kit, im just putting in a UCA, should i do the dirt king Heim or bushings version? Potentially in the future adding the gear for a LT kit
Would you recommend the Heim join UCA for Dirt king or Bushing UCA? Im not looking to running long travel, for now, maybe in the future. What are your thoughts?
This video needs more exposer. I myself have Camburg UCA's on my Tacoma. Eventually would like to LT it. These are the real world, down and dirty numbers. Thanks for video my friend.
Excellent information, My rig is a 2011 LexusGX460 with Toyo opencountryMT35x12.5R18 SPC UCA, BODY MOUNT CHOP, 1.25 SPACER original rims, 3 inch Dobinson suspensión, I want to know a comparison about reliability between factory and extended travel, also how it's compare in real world Offroading, thanks and hi from Puerto Rico
Man your channel came to clear a lot of doubts many of us off roaders have, really appreciated. I was wondering if you can talk about why and how to correct the camber when lifting the car. I've found the more you lift your car the higher the positive camber gets. I've heard that some brands sells extended lower control arm to correct the problem with adjustable uca too, but I wish to know your approach
This was a fantastic video and had exactly the information I need for the mods I am considering. Thank you very much for such a comprehensive and detailed video.
Hi Kai, I really enjoy all your videos. I always find them informative and insightful. I have a 2008 GX470. It sits on 34’s (285/75/17 BFG ko2’s) and a 2-1/2 lift. I use it as my daily driver. It has impeccable on road manners given its configuration. So, I'm hesitant to go overboard with modifications. Like most wheelers, I enjoy the occasional rock crawling trip, but the majority of my wheeling just relates to overlanding, with trips across Colorado, Idaho, the Pacific NW and Alaska. I am considering a trip through Mexico to Central America soon too. Given the distances and varied terrain I cover, I’m primarily focused on reliability and durability on trails that could be much more isolated than some of the more popular trails. I’m also looking for increased wheel travel for the more challenging sections of trails though, so I considered long-travel kits. I recently rewatched your video on Toyota ifs long travel kits. in your opinion should I even consider a long travel suspension given my type of driving? How does long travel compare to the factory set up?
Great vid man! Appreciate the hard work put into it! And sweet FJ btw! You got a new subscriber here! Hope one day I’ll get good at making informational and entertaining vids like you! I have 4th Gen 4Runner that I’ve been tinkering with the idea of doing a long travel setup in the future, this video sure helped on knowing a bit more about these two companies, thanks!
I like the dirt king every thing I seen you show for what they do and offer it’s the winning builder! I can see what your are saying about the cv joints puncture resistant. I made plates and currently use the bottom strut bolt and nut to hold it in place . It’s just kinda like a flat guard cut to fit the contour of the bottom control arm so with one nut holding it on it relays on the figment to be snug against the top edge of the bottom control arm. They work well and look good just for a educated guess and some playing with and adding and subtracting. I’d say you did one heck of a job putting both of these to the test it was a great show . I’ve thought about the long travel . My set up now is about 4-5 inch lift with 33-12.50-17 . I had to add front wheel spacers to get my front to rear wheel width from side to side right. Being that said the long travel would in turn eliminates the need for the spacer . Plus it gives me more usable travel. Good deal I’m sold on dirt king right now as my ultimate option for front suspension upgrade thanks again for this great learning experience.
Can we all take a second to appreciate how much time and effort went into this video! Thanks for all the information. 🍻
Agreed!
For reals!
I drive neither Toyota or IFS but if I did this would be a really valuable insight.
Basically the quality we all want to make ourselves but never have the patience to do. 😅
Love this guys passion to spread Yota knowledge. Thanks bro!
Amen!!
This is one of the best comparison videos on RUclips
Finally not a reviewer who just says "its great" but a breakdown of design and parts used with positives and negatives.
I would be surprised if this guy doesn’t blow up. Underrated for sure.
Excellent comparison!!! I really appreciated your nuanced summary of why you decided to switch out. It was great to hear how your style of driving impacted your decision. I like the idea of prepping a car to go fast but there is a limit to how many dollars I am willing to throw at things. Great job!!!
This is a master class on control arms. Great analysis and summary
I been eyeing the Camburg Setup for my 2007 v8 4runner
As a novice, you helped more than many shops, earned not just a like but easy subscribe. I hope you are getting commissioned. Lol
You do a great job of explaining the technical information so that most could digest and use it to make decisions. Incredibly comprehensive. Anyone could benefit from this, not just Toyota people. What a great series.
Great job my man! Something to think about when Dirt King pushes the wheel forward they limit the cv angles since it’s no longer centered, which is why their axel shaft is longer to help accommodate that change addressing the plunge as well.
That is good to know, thanks!
Pushing the wheel forward helps fit larger tires and increases the approach angle.
Really informative video!
I would like a comparison of long travel vs Oem Setup
Thank you so much for such a detailed and well thought out comparison. I can't imagine how much time went into this effort, but wow! This has to be the best explanation and critique out there. Bravo Sir! I've subscribed!
Appreciate the kind words man. Yeah took me a long long time. But luckily working on my FJ and my camera are both my hobbies so I enjoyed the process!
Would love to see another video with the Camburg Flat tune design upper control arms with the heim and uniball design
I might have to look more at Dirt king for myself I like the lower long travel control arm design better
Finally someone who knows what they are talking about!
New subscriber!!!
Real world comparison! The best bro!
I am running Camburg long travel ,It"s super solid.Just like you said, down side is the clearence of lower control arm is not very good.
This guy is absolutely amazing! The amount of detail that he gets into and the amount of content he provided was outstanding! great work
Beautiful video with great information. This takes countless hours of planning, filming, and editing!
Thank you sir. And yeah it was a lot of work😂
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen on this subject thank you very much for taking the time in doing it. You help me make my decision on which one I will be going with when I upgrade my suspension an upper and lower control arms. Thank you very much.
You are, without a doubt, one of the best guys on RUclips to fully explain everything toyota. No bs no byious. Just the facts. Thank you
Your videos are incredibly informative, thank you! I'd love to see a comparison between BTF, Marlin Crawler's RCLT, and JD Fab's LT kit!
Thanks. Those 3 are all the newer and more “clever” design kits. Would love to get my hands on one some day.
Have watched your videos to date and subscribed. Thinking out loud here, it's one thing that you understand all this, it's quite another that you have the ability to relate it to all of us. Thanks, and well done.
The most in depth comparison that I've seen. Simple, concise, excellent. Subbed.

Subscribed. Please do not stop making videos on the FJ. I enjoyed every bit of your two videos. Very appreciated.

Best FJ setup!!
Im glad i found this before I bought dirt king LCAs I also got element hard UCAs
I am absolutely speechless.... Thanks for all the information!
This was so clear, concise, and thorough! I really enjoyed watching - thanks for making it!
seriously one of the best technical comparisons. very thorough, as if you’re an engineer
Thank you. I am actually mechanical engineer by trades 😄
This is by far the instruction I’ve ever seen.
Very impressive. Hard to find such a detailed comparison elsewhere!
Thanks so much. You really cut through the fluff and break everything down with facts. I'll be installing a long travel suspension this summer as soon as I take delivery of my new TRD Offroad this summer. Great job presenting this information!
very well done SUBBED

Really enjoyed the video very well-thought-out lot of research. I would like to see a comparison between the dirt King in the total chaos. Thanks
Turned it into a physics lesson! I'm following this guy!
Yes we want long travel comparison to factory setup!!
Fantastic video! Great job. Finally, someone shows real world differences instead of quoting specs from the manufacturer’s. Subscribed!
If you're blasting over whoops, go camburg, allot of camburg's kits are really customizable and very high strength and are built for desert racing.
The amount of time, setup and filming this took. Plus CRISP editing. I’m in.
Outstanding effort and the results show....Thank you so much for your efforts....Please keep these type vids coming!

Great analysis and review. High quality video production as well.
Awesome vid. Always admired your FJ
Great info! These are out of my budget, but it's fun to learn the technical points anyway.
Such a rad comparison. Your doin excellent work!
wow, finally a simple understanding of things. This video is amazing 10/10. Please make more.
Bravo on a great comparison! My 93 Hilux runs Total Chaos 3.5 with triple bypass so I am not in the market for either of these kits but I sincerely enjoyed your video. Thanks for the feedback! Yes that is a video in the plan. Stay tuned!
Rad video man! Thanks for the explanation and in depth comparison.
This is the greatest comparison I’ve seen. And has me thinking.
I would love to see a similar comparison with BTF and JD fab…
Thanks! I like JD fab’s design. Solves a lot of problems in elegant way.
I love your english! Very relaxing to listen too
Thanks!
Thank you for the support!
thanks for all the effort to make this video. excellent!
You are my favorite professor ever! 😀
Need more scientific approaches like this in mechanics
Bravo, well done my friend!
What an excellent comparison! Very well done... Thank you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you sir!
I know you ran the Camburg, but i like the DirtKing. To each their own. Both imho, are the go to kits.
I appreciate the effort put into this. I subscribed. Killer work!
Thank you for doing this video and all the work that went into it. Please keep making more videos, stock vs Lt would be great to see also. Cheers 🍺
Thanks. I appreciate that! And yes few more videos are in the making!

This was a fantastic video and had exactly the information I need for the mods I am considering. Thank you very much for such a comprehensive and detailed video.
Great Video. Hopefully you can get your hands on a new Marlin kit and review it.
love your videos, might be some dirt king in my 4runners future
I have a 3rd gen T4R and am highly considering LT. A comparison video between LT and stock would be great. Thanks for all of your time and info!
I subbed! You deserve it and more. Very detailed and precise information....
Awesome stuff. Thank you for sharing!
I like your fj front bumper!!
Really good job. Gave me a lot of info for building my kit.
Killer video and comparison. Nice work.
Thanks for the great comparison
I am so impressed with this video. Well done sir.
Thank you!! Your videos are great! Can we please get one comparing long travel to oem.
Awesome job!!! I really appreciate the effort you put into this video!!!

thank you for your service

Can you please talk about/review the difference between the RCLT and a long travel kit?
Very interesting video. I'd like to see one with Total Chaos, All Pro, Baja Kits, BTF, etc.
Thanks for the effort! Please have Land cruiser videos in the future!
Great video with explanations.
Yes long travel vid
Awesome vid my dude.
Another one that is getting popular is the jd fab LT
