    Extremely knowledgeable! I am building my custom suspension for my 2020 Tundra. It is a daily driver, but will overland and light offroad with it, travel, and occasionally haul, so I don't need anything too crazy. I just want to lift my truck, but have the reliability, quality, and capability. After this I am definitely, for my application, am getting the Camburg UCA's. Great video and thanks for helping me understand the differences between the brands UCA's. I was debating between Freedom Offroad, Bilstein, Camburg, and JBA's, and Icon. Wheew...tough competition and tough choice. I don't need anything too crazy because i am not rock climbing or doing heavy off-roading with my Tundra since it's my daily as well. I do plan on buying a Tacoma built for overlanding/off-roading in the future, in a few years after I retire from the service.

    If you guys did this video with some information about what kinds of forces the UCA and UBJ endure, it would be a Toyota owner must-see. If you did, though, it would reveal that most of these options are overkill for anything that isn’t desert racing… even the SPC is overkill for any trail you can get an IFS vehicle up. Any Toyota truck owner looking to mod should watch this video. ⭐️

    Just for knowledge sharing's sake, not at all a criticism. Those Dobinson UCAs are drop forged 6082 aluminum then CNC machined, not actually billet. Most of the billet arms on the market (Icon, Camburg, etc) are made from 6061. Good info!

    Dobinsons Billet >
    have had SPC, balljoints don't last even with regular Moly grease application, almost every set ive installed has come back for balljoints within 2-3 years. Thats ridiculious imho... Have had Dobinsons standard duty, they are good but couldn't get the alignment perfect so jumped on the billet soon as they came out. You don't really see any BJ or bushing failures with the factory style parts. Install and keep them clean, like you said and forget about them. The rest, no so much...

    What no one really talks about is wha the built in high caster does. They all push the tire closer to the cab mount thereby causing tire rub. It would be much smarter to use an adjustable lower control arm. But so far I’ve inklusive found one manufacture that makes one that pushes the tire 1” forward away from the cab mount and thereby increasing positive caster.

If you’re new to this stuff, what are some questions to ask or things to look out for when choosing a shop?

    • @Runnin4Tacos

      Hey! I would talk to the shop and get a feel for it. Here at R4T, we don't try to sell any particular product to you. We will always ask what you are using the truck for and then advise you which route to take depending on your budget. If a shop tells you to get this and that without any explanation of how it works, then I would be more worried.

  • @llamallama4927
    @llamallama4927 11 месяцев назад

    To say that a billet design is always stronger than a tubular design is not entirely correct. The main reason a company would create a billet design is to have it perform mechanically as intended while also having greater dimensional control because of the machining process. Additionally there is no welding so it removes that procedure out of the manufacturing process. I would almost guarantee the number one reason Total Chaos does not do a billet is because of cost and their internal expertise. They can get the same amount of performance out of tubular design and remove the machining procedure out of their manufacturing process. Tubular is going to be cheaper to manufacture when compared to running and maintaining a $100k CNC machine.
    Also you cannot judge the strength of tube by just the outer diameter; the inner diameter and material are equally important factors.
