I bought a 2007 fj back in 2018. I was going to upgrade the roof rack and put a roof top tent. Unfortunately it got totaled by a drunk driver. She hit me at 70 mph on an over pass bridge. She almost hit me directly head on but I was able to turn in slightly so she hit my side in glancing blow; my wife and daughter were on the non-collision side. We walked away from it and so did the drunk driver. That fj was a tank. Bought another 2007 fj. Finally have the rooftop tent, off road fridge freezer extra battery portable 140 watt zamp solar. Life is good.
It's a great testament to the security a 2007 can provide, given they hadn't engineered all the safety features yet. I am happy to hear you and your family fared well through such a traumatic event. And I am ecstatic you have another 2007 again! Happy trails! Cheers!
Except you forgot to mention that 2009 was the last of timing chain instead of belt, hydraulic brakes and steering instead of electric and a few more things that require more maintenance and $ and things to break. Computers are always big bucks. In my opinion a 2009 would be the one to look for, for Bullet proof and low maintenace.
'13 manual trans, 50k miles and NEVER selling it. great channel (dont tell my wife, she already complains that i talk about my fj too much) new sub here
I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser; I purchased it in early 2008. I have driven the heck out of the beast. I’ve replaced the brakes and alternator. The vehicle is running marvelous. I use it off road and as a computer. I keep the oil changed; I treat as I should, and I use it to haul. 17ft travel trailer. My FJ pulls that trailer around like it is nothing. My FJ has 280k miles on the odometer. I would not trade it for any other off road vehicle that claims to be superior. I believe the 07 FJ was the best made. I have living proof.
I have a 2012. Had it since 2014 (bought with like 27k miles on it). Haven't had a single issue. I did replace the brake rotors and pads after 85k (currently at like 88k). The stock ones are good / rated for 100k. My mechanic told me the originals still had a lot of life on them, after 85k miles! I also of course have had new tires, and I do a Mobile 1 Synthetic oil change once a year or 7.5k miles (so, once a year for me). This vehicle is amazing! My mechanic has said, "they are over engineered". Will never get rid of mine, even though it is worth the same or more than I bought it for 7 years ago!
I bought mine December 2006 and it’s taken me all over America and I recently took it with me to Belgium. I keep meaning to upgrade her but the most I’ve done is upgrade the radio, runs fine as is. 164,000 miles on her
I bought a 2012 black on black one in the summer of 2022. 94k miles for 22k. In perfect condition. Very strong engine. Freezing cold AC nice sound system. Automatic. I upgraded the all the lights to L.E.D and added new bumper tips with built in L.E.D. LIGHTS. Love it! It is my vacation car when I go to PR 3-4 times a year. I got tired of being ripped off on rentals for jalopies.
Got mine new in August 2006. Just blew a head gasket 2 weeks ago after 425,236 miles of perfect performance, reliability and no problems or repairs except new cats at 300,000. Local Toy Shop is gonna do a full engine rebuild (least expensive option and EVERY part gets checked). Then off for the next few hundred thousand. FJs are AMAZING vehicles!
I have an 07 base with the off-road package and hidden A-Trac port behind a dummy switch. It grew up in Arizona so no rust 200k miles and she’s still going strong I feel real blessed with her!
Adam Saenz I have an 08 and live in Pennsylvania and also took it to the beach way to many times lol. My underside is a rust bucket and just recently my rear fuel tank strap broke from rust.
I just bought a 2007 voodoo blue in August, 251,000 miles. I had the transmission lines replaced. I smile every time I see him!! My St. Bernard & I have enjoyed putting the next 3,000 miles on. I cannot imagine owning anything else ever again. I don't know what I shall do if I ever have to retire him.
Great review, I had bought a 2007 with hail damage for 9000 thousand dollars with 60,000 miles. It was an amazing car but someone ran a red light hit me, from what I was told the FJ rolled over two or three times. Nothing happened to me, I got up and walked out the backside Window. My wife asked what kind of car are you getting next? I told her, the same thing an FJ. I then got an 2008 with 120,000 miles. I’m in Utah and this thing cuts through the snow like nothing. When the city is snowed in first thing in the mornings, I go for a ride. and this is all less than four years ago and the car runs amazing with 162,000 miles. I Just replaced the front headlight and got a new windshield. The car runs and looks amazing. I’m 63 and I plan on this being my last car till I’m 110 years old.
my fj is 2014 manual with 3k thousand miles on it, brought in for recall and non of the tech believe this is original milage, its pretty much like a shelf queen spending its glory days in garage
For me I am very blessed to have a 2007 post TRD build (I can use diff lock and A-track together ) titanium metallic and completely rust free with factory TRD exhaust, rock sliders, roof rack, 6 speakers 🔊 , 400 Watt power outlet And back up assist. Such a unique vehicle and fun to drive. P.S. it is up for July‘s ride of the month on the FJ cruiser forum 🙂. Really enjoyed the video. Thank you for continuing to produce these. 👍🏻
Thanks to your informative videos, I decided to pay a fee to ship a 2012 FJ Cruiser from Carmax to test-drive the vehicle. The blue FJ has only 64K miles on it. It will arrive within a week, and if I'm feeling even more adventurous than I already am today, I might go ahead with the purchase. I thoroughly enjoyed all your videos!
I'm probably getting an FJ Cruiser 2009 from a friend that moved out of the country and realized it's cheaper to buy a vehicle there than to have it shipped. Only thing I have to check is if it's automatic or manual. I'm glad you mentioned that you would buy this year. I'm hoping his is the later version with the potential changes that came with the 2010.
Bought a 2008, new in 2008. Rock rails, 33's and a 3 inch lift. 54K miles. The paint and interior are immaculate. No scratches, dents, dings or rust (It's an AZ truck). Garage kept. Use it about once a month, except in the Summer when it sits for 3 months straight. It's great off road - I'm never selling it.
Great video! I've added so many mods to my 2007 FJ on my channel, it pretty much has what I want at this time. Thank god no fender bulges and since I don't try to climb rocks, no problems with the rear differential. At least my FJ has electronic controls where I can manipulate the rear door windows, locks, and a door popper where I can open the rear door from inside. a great addition for those who like to camp in the back! I'll never give my FJ, they are pretty much the best 4 x 4 vehicles out there!
Gee, I would really like to know what I'm doing wrong??? I didn't know I could open the back door window, or the door itself from inside. Please Advise. THX.
@@vincenzodemarco7983 I have a couple videos that show how to install a parallel switch to the rear door key that will allow you to lock / unlock the doors and pop open the back window. That's the easy one. Another video shows how to install an electric door popper so you can open the rear door electrically. Some people use a rope or coat hanger for this but I like the "factory look" of a push button switch.
@@tanktankerson1042 Well Yes for sure I would be grateful to know how to open the back door from the inside. I'm perplexed that we can't do this Already, or that Toyota didn't build that feature from the start. My key fob will unlock all doors and inserting the key in the back door will Pop-Open the window. That is all I can do with my 2014 year Model. Thank You. Advise me where to go/look.👍
Bought a 2010 and love it till this day. Installed a full set of trod grey wheels with BFG AT KO2 and the Tom light came on. Dealer service started quoting me all sorts of horrific causes and horrendous prices. I went to my local Discount tire and they had a gizmo they attached to the OBD port and rebooted the system to my new sensors for free. I gave the technician a twenty dollar tip.
Glad to hear it! Yeah there is a reason the dealerships are sometimes called STEAL-erships. They want to make the most $$$ possible even for the simplest things.
I bought my 2013 FJ TRD cement gray with 53 thousand miles in 2016. I now have 153 thousand on it and have not had any problems at all. Best vehicle I will ever own.
I bought my 2010, Sandstorm, FJ Trail Teams, Special Edition in 2011 with 38,000 miles on it. I still have it today (2022) with nearly 197,000 miles on it. It looks better than ever with a 3 inch lift and leather interior. They're going to have to bury me in it like a Viking funeral....
2009 FJ owner with 520,000 kms. Just replaced the steering wheel...other than that no real issues ,had oil leak where timing chain cover mates to oil pan.
Yeah as these vehicles get older and experience traditional wear and tear there are bound to be leaks from time to time. Had to fix a power steering leak yesterday on my own FJ!
This is my second time watching this now. First time was when I was doing research for buying my first FJ (got ahold of a 2008) and now I'm watching again since my dad wants to buy one since he's seen mine and asked what years are best. Great info in this video, thanks.
I have a 2013 Trail Teams with 37K miles on the odometer, and I love it. I've been offered $40K for it, but will probably never sell. Never a serious issue with The Beast, it's my day-to-day, with Michelin all weather/all seasons tires, and a second set of offroad tires. No dings, no rust, interior in perfect shape.
Watching this video in my 07 4x4. New viewer... new subscriber... old FJ fan, owner, taking a break from doing maintenance on my FJ (and maybe one too many coffees) viewer. Nice breakdown, excited to see more.
07-09s are based off of the Prado 120 platform (4th gen 4Runner) while the 10-14+ FJs based on the 150 Prado (5th gen 4Runner) Some part like suspension are not interchangeable like front shocks
It is certainly a great choice! Though the rear seat may leave some to be desired, but if you only have 1 or 2 people riding in the front seats than you have all the room in the back for equipment and you can off-road everywhere!
Bought my voodoo blue in may of 06, I have replaced all wheel bearings , calipers and rotors , belt and pulleys , 2 sets of plugs . IT STILL HAS THE FACTORY PANISONIC BATTERY , UN PHUCING BELIEVABLE ! I keep the undercarriage painted and try to prevent rust . 134k and love it .
Way to take care of your FJ! Amazing about the battery too. Ive done brake pad changes and had to replace the alternator among other misc. parts due to wear from off-roading but she is still going strong at 153K miles!
@@About2Rain , Sanded down any rust bubbles , wiped the area down with laquer thinner and primed it with Rust-Oleum and covered it with Rust-Oleum black , I used glossy black . Went around with a piece of card board with the Right size hole and placed over the bolts and shot them with silver . They swore to me the body would never rust and it hasn't but the chassis needs baby setting . I usually keep it power washed through out the winter since I live in the rust belt . Thanks for asking .
bought mine same month and year. (manual 6 speed) battery still works as well! have never had a tune up, only oil changes. only replaced the brakes at 160k. unreal!
Hi. I have a white 2008 fj. I bought it brand new , 0 miles, for cash. I think it’s the best car there is. I kept it stock. The only thing I did recently was change the radio with a kenwood screen that does CarPlay wirelessly. Now I really want to invest in it by modifying it more in terms of performance and looks. I subd man. Nice channel. Keep it up.
Purchased my '07 TRD FJ off the lot with only 11 miles. It's 12/22, and it's getting close to hit the 200k. I totally love it. I've been in 3 accidents all 3, not at fault, and the last one was a head-on collision. My wife and I walked away from all 3 accidents unscathed....not so much for the Ford Mustang, Chrysler PT Cruiser, and Ford Fusion. The only reason why we kept our FJ. OUR SAFETY. Visibility really sucks! But with lil' blind mirrors attached to the side mirrors helped a lot. Bring the FJ BACK!!
The critical things about the late 2013/14 model is that it contained the Crawl Control and a 160L long range fuel tank. It is therefore the best one. 👍
Here in the US we never got the long range fuel tanks, but I actually did do a video about cool FJ features other countries outside the US got and that was one of them!
I have recently moved to the US and it's crazy how affordable a FJ Cruiser is over here, I really want one - I have always wanted to have one, I have bought a Lexus ct200h as my daily - sharing it with my wife - but I am already looking at FJs, this video helps a lot, thank you so much.
Thank you for this. Ive had many offroad vehicles since I started off roading 32 years ago. My first 4x4 was actually an AMC Eagle, what can i say, i had 4 little children, and it worked. Then a 4runner (86), 2 Jeeps, 2 Troopers, and a Dodge Raider (88). My faves, the 4Runner and Raider. The Raider unfortunately, was not a reliable vehicle, and now sits while i unsuccessfully search for a used, low miles motor...no luck. So i started looking again and have narrowed it down to either an H3 Alpha (Hummer), or an FJ. Obviously, the FJ is the better truck, but man, finding one that is under 250k and $15k (my budget for a cash purchase) is near impossible, while H3's can be had for around $10k-14k w low miles. Both are great trucks from what i see, but the FJ will last twice as long. Hopefully i find one. Great video.
Absolutely fantastic review!!! My daughter wants an FJ (great taste) so I needed a crash course and your video helped immensely. Thank you for your efforts.
I've been looking off and on for the last 4 years. Something always comes up, wether it's need for a new roof on the house or being priced out of the market for an FJ. Still really want one so I keep looking, but for now I'm only looking.
Subbed! I’m buying a ‘14 tomorrow! Unfortunately, the dealer was way too proud of his FJ. I’m still in the market. Deal fell through. 😮 Made an offer on a ‘12. They accepted. Pick it up Saturday in Raleigh.
I used some of your info(tips on the 5 things I didnt know on buying my 315000 miles 2007 FJ Cruiser 6 speed )In my video and put a link in my description of this video!
I have an '08 and had to install those reinforcements for the engine bay...admittedly I drove it into the backside of a washed out road. and by drove, I mean jumped...
Cool. REALLY COOL. Thank God Almighty I found this Channel. (Your Channel) Ya, I'm So Happy for All the info you have brought forth. I had one of the First 07's in So. Ut. It was Ordered & I had to wait. I was Beyond Blown Away just Seeing it at the showroom. I am an Off-Road 'Goonter' and go places Most people Don't. (think No. Rim Grand Canyon) Then after a few years, a lovely thing called Divorce rolled into town. Bad Day at Black Rock. Fast Forward, I was Fortunate to Acquire a New, Ordered, 2014 with Everything minus the TRD Stamp. (Perhaps you can educate me as to just What, is the Big Difference) I don't have the overhead goodies, and that's fine with me, and it doesn't have the Cool looking exhaust Tip on the side. (does that matter much???) In any case, I'm Always Getting Flack from cheep owners, oops, Jeep Owners. They Want to start a fight about How Ugly it is, or More Importantly, how it Can't Do as Much as a Rubicon. Well Screw That. My first FJ came with a complete book with Full Pics on how the Off-Road Pros did the Rubicon Trail, And Nailed It. Even with Just 'Rear Lockers'. (I've been in Jeeps, and Hate the Horrible Ride. Then, with that 3 inch lip under the door, I could hardly get my Legs out without almost Falling in the dirt)(that list goes On & On) That's ok, they can Keep their jeeps. I'm So Overwhelmed with the performance and capabilities that if I can afford it, I will buy 2-3-4 more. I Actually don't care if some think the FJ is Funny Looking, that's just fine with me. For every 10 who don't, there are 30 who Do. (three months ago, I had a nice guy approach me and offer 10K more than what I paid for mine back in Oct.13) No Thanks, This One I Keep. More Blabbing Away, if you want to hear it. I'm A Believer, I'm Hooked. Thanks Again Whomever You Are, you made my day.👍😎✌🥇👌🌝
First off I love the recap of the factory specs of the FJs for newbies. Although I am an original owner of an 08 Titanium Silver with 62k on the clock currently. BUT... you now have two videos which leave out the Blu Logic Bluetooth 2008-2010 PT923-00098 which was a dealer install option with Switch Panel switch. Although I waited until dealers started to clear this option out of inventories and got it cheap new in box and installed it myself. Also my research has documented the fender bulge issue to Feb '07 and before; not later. Keep up the history lessons for future owners of these beloved rigs.
Oops! My bad! I feel bad that that was left out of my FJ Cruiser buttons and switches video, I didnt realize it was an OEM Toyota thing, i just always thought it was some aftermarket company that some folks had. Thanks for mentioning that!
@@FJX2000_Productions No biggie. I am not on the boards, but have been lurking since 2005 when I found the FJ Interest Survey at Toyota.com . Although I placed the switch above the stock location for the planned spot in the instruction as i plan to eventually add heated leather in the left & right bottom row. Regardless.

Enjoying my 2010 FJ Cruiser RWD convenience package. Definitely a base but I’m loving it. Got it back on the Dec 1st. Beautiful shape for a high mileage FJ. Talking 220k miles. Trust me, I did my research. Thank you for your videos 👍🏾
@@maximorodriguez6849 So sorry for the late response. I remember seeing your comment but never got back to the notification and of course time just went by. Anyway, I got it for 12k and still loving it. It's been a year now and still drives the same. Thus far, only had to change my oil twice and maybe a bulb or two. Nothing major outside of wear and tear. Brakes are next tho to be changed. Current miles = 232,800k. Get one if you can 👍
I have an early 07 I bought from the original owner. No fender issues. 177k still going strong. I also have a gx470 and watched a video about disabling the tpms to shut the light off, Should be possible on the FJ Cruiser as well. They are similar platforms. PRADO 120
A big change to the 2013 FJ here in Australia was an increase in fuel tank size to 159L. Don't know if this was only in Australia or world-wide. Nice video!!
I have an 08 FJ with 41k miles (purchased from AZ with 38k miles 1.5 years ago) and just had an oil change done at the dealer and they noticed an oil leak. According to them about a 1/2 quart. Concerning because I’ve only been driving about 1,000 miles on every 6 months since I purchased it and this was just discovered. Need to start investigating what’s leaking (no oil actually leaking on the ground but per the forum, the timing chain cover is a common problem).
Love mt 07 Titanium Tank! We have not run into any of the early model FJ problems on our, at 133K now. Had the rear diff replaced last year, but it was not for broken pinion gears, something else failed in it, I think it was bearing. When, not if (wife wants her own) we get another FJ, I would like an 09. Oil change! Enough said!!!
Hello friend , i have a 207 fj and only with 86.000mile i bought brand new. The rear end start to make noise when it was in 70.000 mile do you know if theirs a recall for those rear end .thank you
@@karmevincent have you checked the oil level in the diff? There was a technical bulletin on the propeller shaft that I learned about when lessons having a thud coming from the rear end.
6:20 TPMS is a great feature, but it has a couple quirks. Moral of my long story below: Consider the spare tire as part of the tire inflation monitoring system. Here is how I found out: If your tire pressure light comes on don’t forget to check the spare tire pressure. When I bought Bruiser the Cruiser the tire pressure light was illuminated and the dealership had no access to an air compressor as it was after 10 pm. All the tires looked good and showed 32+ lbs pressure by the gauge I had in the go bag I was transferring to the FJ. Next day my first stop was the nearby Costco for air. Their “automatic” tire inflator station indicated everything was good. I thought it might just take a few miles driving after the pressure check for the tire light to de-luminate. Not so. Next day, I went back to Costco and asked the Tire Guys about the light, and what they thought. Immediately they asked if I had checked the spare tire pressure. I had not, so I did. Problem solved. Prior to my near 5000 mile round-trip road trip to Homer Glen, IL for a health and safety inspection by RUclips’s own, Achmed, The Car Care Nut (youtube.com/@thecarcarenut?si=nUbN9Fy6TSEzcEOF), I had Bruiser’s four tires replaced. The tires on the vehicle were fine as far as their tread went, but they were 12 years-old and in-between the tread you could see splits in the rubber. Not wanting to test fate, I scheduled a tire change at Billings, MT Costco to do the tire swap en route. The spare had never, apparently, been used as all the little nubbins you see in new tires were still there. On Achmed’s suggestion I decided to have that tire replaced on the way home. I left the tire at the same Billings, MT Costco when my wife and I pulled in there intending to pick the tire up the next day. That morning, leaving the hotel, the tire light came on. Hoping it was the lack of a spare and the tire pressure system was “looking” for a fifth sensor, I drove to Costco and put the spare on the rear door. Tire light de-luminated. Second moral learned: In addition to tires wearing out by being driven on the road (tread wear), tires have a life span of about 6 years before the rubber dries out enough to cause the splits I found in Bruiser’s tires, even the spare that had never been used. So there is no reason to “save the spare.” Rotate all five tires. They will wear evenly, and you won’t have to toss a perfectly good tire because the rubber is rotting on the rim.
I enjoy your video's and am a subscriber. I recently bought a 2014 FJ (black with white roof). Only has 50,700 miles on it now. (When I purchased the FJ, it had 50,474 miles). I am the second owner.
@@anacorrea2675 I paid in the upper range of Kelly Blue Book. (Between $39K to $41K) This FJ was kept in a garage and is in an almost new condition. The tires have so much tread left they look new. Maintenance done on the FJ was by the dealer that sold it new. There was a safety recall for the fuel pump so this was replaced along with the front disc pads. This work was done before it was listed for sale. If I had more patience, I might of been able to get the dealer to bring down the price. However, I have no regrets and I am jazzed about my FJ!

When I've been collecting knowledge before buying my own FJ I found information that the front fender structure cracking was fixed by Toyota in 2008 (not necessarily ready for all '09 MY) by adding additional strengthen element inside. But if you found several 2009 MY FJs with this problem it means I found misleading information. Thanks for the video. Great job.
Well done Sir. Because I am shopping right now for 1 of these specimens, sold a Porsche 997 for this, why, personal dream to own 1. And 2010 with such a substantial size increase to rear differential gears (Thanks for pic), 2010 or newer seems to be a must.

Hey there! Thanks for messaging me! So to answer your question, I actually made up a spread sheet comparing 2013 FJs of all prices and mileages from across the country and this specific FJ seems to be pretty much right on the average for what these 2013 FJs are going for. So not a bad deal necessarily but also not the best deal out there. For that same price there are some FJs with only 31,000 miles. Hope that helps!
Thanks for making this series of videos. I am happy with my TRD 6MT SE .... But I am going to buy a TTUE anytime in the future. I want to have both lol.

Any clutch bearing squeaks? Mine sounds like someone scratching a ceramic plate with a fork and it's constant. Also louder than the engine
Your wife and my wife could be friends then 😂
I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser; I purchased it in early 2008.
God. This is the only vehicle I’ve ever wanted. Never been a car guy but I’d part with my savings account just to get my hands on one.
I had a 2007 with only 13K km, sit in the garage for years, my wife hates it, but I will keep it any way.
@@jw715 keep the car lose the wife 🤣
Love my 12, trail teams 6sp manual. Lots of fun totally stock except the radio. Would like to put a much bigger back up camera monitor in it.
@@mcelroychandler6267 ours is stock as well. 2011 with only 68500
I also have the 2012-TT. Can’t believe at 85k you still had more to go on the brakes. Incredible.
I just got lucky and found a perfect 2013 version with 112K miles :,) I’m gonna be set for a long time
I am 52 yr old female and I have a 2008 FJ & all I do is drive around town (6 mile radius) and I like how safe I feel when I drive it.
My 08 FJ has 325k miles and still running great!
Nice hope you still have it.. Mine 08 with 200,000 it’s a beast. Workmate has two, one with 380,000
@@dallen8997 yep just changed the oil last week. Running great
I bought mine December 2006 and it’s taken me all over America and I recently took it with me to Belgium. I keep meaning to upgrade her but the most I’ve done is upgrade the radio, runs fine as is. 164,000 miles on her
@MysteriousOklahoma oh wow, so I have some catching up to do
@MysteriousOklahoma I wonder who in they right state of mind would buy that lol
Sounds great!
Sounds like your talking about my fj bro

I have an 08 and live in Pennsylvania and also took it to the beach way to many times lol. My underside is a rust bucket and just recently my rear fuel tank strap broke from rust.
Did yours come with a rear locker switch and a traction control switch or did you have to put them in after after buying the car?

My 2008 has 267,000 KM on it and still running great.. an awesome vehicle.
Love Love my 2007 FJ! Bought it in 2009 it came from Florida. I live in southern Me. I have been blessed with a great vehicle.
So glad to hear it!
Just got a 2010 base 4x4 Army Green with 118k NM owned all its life rust free, so awesome!
This video is a million times more informative than I thought it would be. I hope to be a future FJ owner.
Great video, thank you. We’ve got a 2011 FJ that we’ll never get rid of.
I just bought an '11 and am really happy. Thanks for helping me to learn more about this really fine vehicle.
Perfect! Hope you enjoy it!
FJs certainly can have that effect on people! I love mine too and can't imagine not having one!
How do yall assign genders to cars 🤣🤣. Always sounds silly to me
Great review, I had bought a 2007 with hail damage for 9000 thousand dollars with 60,000 miles.
Thanks for the most competitive information about FJs. My FJ is 2010 and I love to take it to the deserts. It's awesome in the sand.
my fj is 2014 manual with 3k thousand miles on it, brought in for recall and non of the tech believe this is original milage, its pretty much like a shelf queen spending its glory days in garage
That's amazing! What a gem!
Since my 2011 army green just turned 80K miles, it is the best year!! 😁
I have a 2010, 75k miles! I love it!
We’re close, just about to hit 84k on my 2011. 👊🏽👽👍🏽
2011 with 206,000 miles…..Bought brand new with 13 miles on it….Have not had a single issue with these fine vehicles….
Sounds awesome! Glad the videos have helped inspire!
I enjoy watching this video every 3 or 4 months. I still love my ‘12 FJB Edition FJ. I got rear ended 3 weeks ago and it needs some TLC.
2007 all day long for me. Updating the head unit for BT is easy peezy.
4.0L V6 is king. Torque is what I want when I'm exploring off-road. :)

07-09s are based off of the Prado 120 platform (4th gen 4Runner) while the 10-14+ FJs based on the 150 Prado (5th gen 4Runner)
Some part like suspension are not interchangeable like front shocks
I looking for a perfect suv and I thinking FJ is a good choice, perfect for off-road thank you for the video .
What did you paint the under carriage with?

Glad to hear it! Awesome story!
2011 model year gets my Vote! Wish that the prices wouldn’t keep appreciating though 😢. Great review.
Hope you find the perfect FJ for you!
Thanks for sharing! Yeah I hope you get an FJ of course, but you also gotta choose the logical choice as well for the budget 👍

Fast Forward, I was Fortunate to Acquire a New, Ordered, 2014 with Everything minus the TRD Stamp.

Front timing cover. this year is known for it.
I love my 2007 FJ It is a tank, built very solid . I enjoy driving and feeling safe.

6:20 TPMS is a great feature, but it has a couple quirks. Moral of my long story below:
Consider the spare tire as part of the tire inflation monitoring system.
Here is how I found out:
If your tire pressure light comes on don’t forget to check the spare tire pressure.
Second moral learned:
In addition to tires wearing out by being driven on the road (tread wear), tires have a life span of about 6 years before the rubber dries out enough to cause the splits I found in Bruiser’s tires, even the spare that had never been used.
Congrats! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
How much did you paid for the FJ?
@@anacorrea2675 I paid in the upper range of Kelly Blue Book. (Between $39K to $41K) This FJ was kept in a garage and is in an almost new condition. The tires have so much tread left they look new. Maintenance done on the FJ was by the dealer that sold it new. There was a safety recall for the fuel pump so this was replaced along with the front disc pads. This work was done before it was listed for sale. If I had more patience, I might of been able to get the dealer to bring down the price. However, I have no regrets and I am jazzed about my FJ!
MY 2009 Tacoma is a truck version with a Bilstien lift & Leaf spring helpers
people talk about the doors but they have no idea how comfy it is once you get in and sit... I normally commute my FJ 13 in the busy city and believe me the expecience is rear differential...... sometime feels like its not intended and a default product and later awarded for geniousnesss........thanks for your vided much appreciated.....
The rear is terrible for babies and car seats but is totally comfortable. And trying to get a larger person in the back when someone parks right next to you is terrible.
Have a 2012, bought it new in 2012 unfortunately with my job im outa town a lot so it sits in my garage more than anything so i haven't really been able to enjoy it , but when i retire look out lol. It's only got like 9000 miles on it :)
I bought my 2007 FJ and I love it! I will never buy another truck. People have asked me if I want to sell it...and I tell them no way! It's paid off and still looks new!
That’s so great! Thanks for sharing!
Love my 2007 TRD 6 speed 😎
I own a 2008, bought it new, still own it. Love it
Awesome! I have the same year!
Own a 2015 model 120000km done and have absolutely no issues. Awesome road presence and 8km to a litreif driven sanely.
No such thing. I have the last year model 2014.
I've been wanting a Toyota FJ Cruiser for years now and just seen your Channel about FJ's good job I like & subscribed and now I'm going through to look at more of your videos thanks for all the great information on the FJ's!
Just look up the tpms bypass. I did it on my 4th gen 4runner after modifications
I have a 2012 Black W/White top! It's drop dead gorgeous, and so clean I have taken all the outer trim off so I can thoroughly clean and paint the underside. (I'm a paint and body shop owner) to offset the tendency to rust badly, that I've seen out of these beautiful machines. I've wanted one since I first saw them on the road, and will keep this fantastic machine for the "duration", however long that may be? Thanks for such a detailed and professional overview of what I consider the coolest, and most beautiful vehicle on the road! So! I subscribed!
I just bought a 2010 Black w/white top. But this video says that year didn't come in that color. Can someone advise?
When I've been collecting knowledge before buying my own FJ I found information that the front fender structure cracking was fixed by Toyota in 2008 (not necessarily ready for all '09 MY) by adding additional strengthen element inside. But if you found several 2009 MY FJs with this problem it means I found misleading information. Thanks for the video. Great job.
I just wish to have one, it my dream car
I've got an 07' with 173,000 miles, love this car
I want to get a FJ cruiser and I am glad I found this
2013 version makes sense
You anticipated my question with this video 😊
Awesome to hear!
Well done Sir. Because I am shopping right now for 1 of these specimens, sold a Porsche 997 for this, why, personal dream to own 1. And 2010 with such a substantial size increase to rear differential gears (Thanks for pic), 2010 or newer seems to be a must.
Glad to hear I helped!
u sold a 997 so u can get an FJ? Dude I bought my FJ almost a decade ago mainly as a work vehicle so I can work my way to a Porsche... crazy how the world spins sometimes.
I have the 2007 FJ Cruiser 2-wheel drive in Titanium with upgrade package 2. I'm going to purchase another FJ Cruiser in a 4-wheel drive soon.
This video is SO informative! Well researched and very professionally done! Can't believe Toyota hasn't reached out to you! Keep 'em coming!
My 2007 had a trans issue and had a replacement under warranty. After that it was a great truck. We regret trading it in.
2 2007 FJ's. 140,000 (black cherry metallic, favorite color even though I never wash it) & 165,000 (silver). Both manual AWD/4x4 and 3" lifted. One runs ome and the other icons. Only do maintenance. I beat mine every chance I get on or offroad. Wife's higher miles and we do take it offroad too.
That sounds like the dream! 2 FJs are better than 1! Way to be! Thanks for watching and commenting!
ONE OF THE BEST NO B/S TO THE POINT INFORMATION VIDEOS THAT TOLD ME EVERY THING I WANTED TO KNOW / UNBELIEVABLE I LOVED IT / THANK YOU VERY MUCH / I SINCERELY MEAN THAT / THANKS AGAIN / YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A GREAT DENTIST WHEN YOU GRADUATE / MAY GOD BLESS YOU IN FILES JOURNEY
just bought a 2013 FJ, love it so much !!!!! 😊
Thank you for bring together all this info in one video!! Bet you did a lot of work! Already subscribed and liked the video! Very informative video.
Thanks for watching! It indeed was a lot of work!
I'm a huge FJ fan, thank you for this channel...just seen a 2013 FJ, with 70,000 miles in excellent condition for $ 38,000 is this a fair price ?
Definitely overcharged
It sounds about right!
Thanks for making this series of videos. I am happy with my TRD 6MT SE .... But I am going to buy a TTUE anytime in the future. I want to have both lol.
Favorite color is the black vherry pearl to bad it wasn't offered on anything other then the first year I believe
