Been leaning on getting the 6sp M/T, but only 10% of them were produced. So much easier to find a nicer auto FJ, but all my cars currently are auto and boring to drive. You might be right about using the clutch in traffic (grass is always greener on the other side). It's been 10 years since my last manual transmission so my memory might be a little faded ;)

Best vehicle I’ve ever had, but you must stay on top of the rusting. My undercarriage rusted to no ends! Other than that, runs great and no problems. Excellent in the snow, fun to drive!
@@MiketheBaldadonis, 98,000 mile. I no longer have it. It was a 2007, bought it brand new. The rusting was so bad, I had to get rid of it. It was unsafe to drive. One mechanic told me your going to be driving down to highway and fall out. That’s how bad the rusting was. No problems with the engine or anything else, just rusting. Every other vehicle I ever had, I got rid of because engine problems. This is the first time I got rid of a vehicle because of rusting. Yes it was that bad!
PS: I also have considered buying an FJ before buying my Infiniti, but the gas guzzling scared me off (not that my 2011 FX is frugal, but still manageable). Best wishes from Montreal, Canada & please keep up the great work!
I am considering an FJ Cruiser vs FX/QX vs H3 as a 4x4 within Europe. Is the FJ worth the extra space and driving feel? Plus they are highly customisable for retrofit. Well so is FX by a small lagging margin. As long as a car is reliable, I don't worry about fuel. And I'm from ripoff fuel London but plan to drive in CEE Europe
I made the original clutch in my Mazda 3 last until 285,000 miles. It would have lasted longer but I let my brother borrow the car for a few months and he was very hard on it. The car currently has 385,000 miles. The car is a champion and running strong.

Appreciate this video because i just went and looked at a 07 fj cruiser yesterday with 122,800 miles at a big dealership. They want 16,988$ plus tax and tags 18,988$ out the door. Think that's to much to pay? The dealership was not willing to negotiate 😂or knock anything off price so i walked out. I will say that fj was in great shape and drove great. Yeah prices are everywhere! Find the best 1 that someone is willing to let go at a decent price! Let me know what you end up getting! Im from Everett by the way!
Hey I just picked up an 08 6 speed voodoo blue with 207K on it for 9K. No rust, frame and paint are great! Had a transfer case done by Toyota last year. One owner with window sticker still. It’s got a rattle until I press on clutch. I’m assuming the throw out bearing is gone which sucks because the clutch itself feels great. So I’m looking into my options before I tear the transmission down.
I know I’m late to the party but I’m currently deciding between an 06 4R, 140k for 12k or 18k for an FJ, perfect condition with off road package upgrades for 18k. Any advice in choosing? 😂
Also, just has to change the driver side seat belt. The part is a pain to find, but if you are a DIY type very able to do. A gent in AZ has a good video on this.

I don’t think Toyotas have more of a rust problem. People pay less attention to the other old rusty brands because they’re in the junkyard and inoperable. I believe so many old Toyotas are still driveable, on the road and makes it more noticeable.
Rust happens on most cars in the North US w salt being used for snow..but the Toyota trucks had recalls on their truck frames because they rusted so badly..Here in New England if you read car ads..you will ee some saying ,their truck had frame recalled and got a new frame..
knock sensors is not 2 hours job actually can be very complicated , depending unless you cut some things and do it the wrong way ... but anyways in those engines never goes bad the knock sensors even the scaner is pointing that probably you had another problem in the wiring etc as always

Its fun if its not a daily in traffic ..but back when I was younger I didnt mind ..But still fun truck..but for me..I would grab a auto on the next 1 (unless I get a great deal w a 6 speed lol)
Best vehicle I’ve ever had, but you must stay on top of the rusting. My undercarriage rusted to no ends! Other than that, runs great and no problems. Excellent in the snow, fun to drive!
Miles? You still have it?
@@MiketheBaldadonis, 98,000 mile. I no longer have it. It was a 2007, bought it brand new. The rusting was so bad, I had to get rid of it. It was unsafe to drive. I am considering an FJ Cruiser vs FX/QX vs H3 as a 4x4 within Europe. Is the FJ worth the extra space and driving feel? Plus they are highly customisable for retrofit. Well so is FX by a small lagging margin.

Appreciate this video because i just went and looked at a 07 fj cruiser yesterday with 122,800 miles at a big dealership. They want 16,988$ plus tax and tags 18,988$ out the door. Hey I just picked up an 08 6 speed voodoo blue with 207K on it for 9K. No rust, frame and paint are great! Had a transfer case done by Toyota last year. One owner with window sticker still. I believe so many old Toyotas are still driveable, on the road and makes it more noticeable.

Does it make the mileage last longer?
@@debronsmedley931 I live in the east coast at sea lvl. I know the car says to use premium, I feed mine with regular gas without knocking issues or performance sacrifice (talking about mundane work commute). Now, when I plan a trip to a mud pit or to any off road adventure I change the fuel to premium. I do this because I know I will be putting a lot of load on the engine components. Now in regards fuel economy: I could not say, because I never put premium on work days and will definitely never use regular gas for adventure. I barely do 220 miles from full to empty, so if you have yours you can make a comparison. One note on that, my FJ consumed way more gas if I cruise above 65 mph. It loved 55-65.
