If I recall correctly, Goku actually broke Nappa's spine and crippled him. To a warrior race like the Saiyan's, this is probably one of the worst fates imaginable. I'm sure that Vegeta killing Nappa was less because of, "I'm evil, haha" and more because of, "I won't stand to see a once proud warrior live as a cripple for the rest of his life. Not while I'm his Prince."

That’s why he turned super saiyan when everyone kept saying he murdered Nappa because in his eyes he gave him a warriors death. If Vegeta felt the same as he did in the original timeline he wouldn’t have turned super saiyan over Napa’s death and he wouldn’t have been upset about it and claimed Goku forced his hand to assure Nappa a dignified death.

Goku and Yajirobe do have a point to call out Vegeta for kill Nappa and falsely blames Goku for it. Especially when Vegeta attempts to recuit Yajirobe. Other than that, this "What If" story is awesome.

Remember this is a what if alternate timeline. In this version of events Vegeta’s dialogue implies that he cared about Nappa and killed him out of a twisted sense of honor, sort of like the samurai code of Bushido. (don’t know if I spelt that right)

Then new storylines will open up for Piccolo and Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga, then for Vegeta and Frieza in the Frieza Saga, and for Vegeta and Cell in the Cell Saga. Three of these storylines are what if scenarios and the other three are part of the canon storylines.
And just like that dragon ball z was over vegeta killed goku and the rest of the z fighters and ruled earth he would eventually go on to take out frieza and become the new empire

I loved the what if or alternative stories in Budokai.
Definitely an idea they could incorporate again and I wouldn’t be mad
