I stumbled upon this film by accident on a Sunday morning....there were times when I laughed so loud that my kids came from their room wanting me to find it on their TV....funny and relaxing film.Not gonna win any Oscars but I cannot remember the last time I actually laughed
This movie was a sheer masterpiece. Other than the comedy, it has very strong philosophical undertones that I am now only starting to appreciate on a much deeper level. Now that I just saw it again on DVD and actually know what is going on.
He starts out as an outsider who gets his big break and sells out his principles, becoming a tool. He gets ahead by being a tool. Then it finally gets to the straw that breaks the camel's back, and he realizes it is not what he wants after all.

to be honest I will watch anything with Simon pegg in it, even if the movies complete shit he's just such a good and funny actor

Legit. The title was the whole reason I wanted to watch the trailer. So misleading.
Was it? It’s based on a memoir by a real journalist. Only thing that seemed to be added was the romance.

I thought this was boring at first. One of those does humdrum dumb movies. But I just couldn't give up and kept watching it and it started having really funny parts in it. Then it was kind of a romance story. It turned out really good it's something to watch if you're a female I think you'd really like it

I want to watch this, but the whole deep-voice-over-narrating-what-happens-in-the-film isn't doing it for me..
Yeah, it's a pretty cliche'd movie, but it's worth watching just for Simon's funny performance.

This film did poorly in the US and after World's End also flopped, distributors stopped releasing Simon Pegg movies here which weren't Star Trek or Mission Impossible. Pegg has made a number of films in the last few years but in the US they all went direct to dvd and to streaming services, even the one which featured the voices of the Monty Python cast as aliens. The trailer for A Fantastic Fear of Everything looked funny, but not be to seen in theaters here. And the film where he played a hit man got a low score on Rotten Tomatoes, and again direct to video.
Shame about World's End. That one is actually good.

Toby Young, the guy Simon Pegg is playing, is actual aristocracy, and the idea that he grew up dreaming of how to infiltrate "high society" is laughable.
He isn't aristocracy, they have inherited titles. His father only had a life peerage and it was recommended by the Labour Party.
