- Chicago police are searching for two people responsible for the theft of luxury watches from a high-end dealership in the Gold Coast Saturday.
Lightfoot: "We're going to find you. We're going to prosecute you, and we're going to hold you in jail."

I remember when Chicago used to be my favorite city. Now I literally have no urge to go anywhere near it.
No shatter resistant glass cases for millions of dollars in watches. 800 dollars of bullet proof glass would have stopped it. Is it negligence, or an inside job? Did they hire the hoods to do this so they could get the insurance and split the sales of these? Or are these people so incompetent that this all happened because of this? Should insurance refuse to pay out, based on these grounds. How much slower could they have moved and could they have gotten an older, fatter, slower man, without a gun, to lead the charge in finding out what was going on? When they had the shot, they did not take it. So everyone now knows they are pushovers. Im sure this will lead to copycat robberies because these useless nitwits have showed they serve no purpose. They should all be fired as they have proven useless. Anyone off the street would do their job for a tenth of what they are paid. Get rid of them.

And most companies have a "no chase" type policy anyway since the business can be held liable if a violent situation occurs. Definitely better to just file a police report and claim insurance.
As for why the glass wasn't reinforced? I agree that seems odd for the kind of merchandise being held but that's a different story

From what I've read the watches were, specifically, Richard Mille timepieces, each of which is worth a fortune. Also, there are many different glass strength grades available for people looking for secure displays. From laminated up to UL grade 8 bullet proof. This looked to be just regular glass... imagine that.
