Did none of the officers you spoke to suggest that this could be insurance fraud? He could be paid to hold them as the owners claim they were stolen to their insurance company and get a full payout. He holds them at his place for however long necessary and then they get claimed later as found by a third party and get repurchased as a salvage title

That's where my conclusion jumped to as well, and I think that is a much more plausible explanation than regular theft. If they were stolen for parts they would've been torn apart. If they were stolen to commit crimes, they wouldn't have been stashed in a back yard (that would only incriminate the person, completely defeating the point of stealing a car to commit crimes)

For anyone wondering: Ok, but what can he do with the stolen cars, he can't just resell them in US right? That's right. Most of them are shipped overseas. For example in Russia, it's estimated that 50% of all "new" luxury cars are actually stolen car. So a stolen US Aston Martin could and most likely will end up on the Instagram feed of a rich russian millionare. In fact certain US luxury owners even arrange for their car to be stolen, they get a cut of the re-sale money from Russia and collect full car insurance in US!

Tesla's perhaps, but there's nothing to track if there's only a passive signal from an unpowered tracker. If the manufacturer doesn't get someone on the cars tail pretty quick, then the thieves will disable whatever is necessary until it gets to it's new country/owner. It's not a clueless newbie when there are 35 cars with factory trackers fitted sat in his backyard and this is the first anyone knew about it. They've been worked on by someone before being parked there, otherwise 35 cars would all disappear at the same spot, which is equally suspicious.
Either the cars owners are involved in the fraud, or there's an organised crime element to it. But unless someone has fit a SIM enabled tracker in a non factory locale on the car, once the power sources are disconnected, or the area sufficiently shielded, it's game over.

Leaving the keys inside cars is really a thing, it blows my mind. In NJ, thieves leave Newark and travel to the suburbs to try door handles. they don't have to look for long before they find one unlocked with the key fob inside. They return back with high end cars every day. they joy ride them until they crash or until it's recovered by police while it's parked. If they're able to find someone to purchase the car from them and ship it overseas, they'll do that or use it to commit other crimes. They are also known to travel an hour plus to quiet neighborhoods, including into neighboring NY state, to steal cars.

I think that residence was going full steamer for multiple enterprises. Could be like 10 million buried on the property to be dug up later after the investigation is over.

At least some of them you can pick up with a Hack RF One. Either using it as a relay to boost the signal from a key in the house to the car, or recording and replaying the transponder code. Keyless cars aren't a particularly smart purchase. Just like wireless house alarms and other such innovations. A lock requires a key, but it doesn't become obsolete, doesn't require the latest upgrades, and doesn't have bugs and exploits that need patching. While there are ways to exploit physical locks, you can impose a time and effort penalty. On a house that goes double, buy a Medeco for your front door and a bare handful of people on the planet would have a chance. Any electronic lock can be suborned with time and effort, particularly if it utilises any sort of network. Keyless entry using radio frequencies, even if it's done in a complicated manner makes it a 2 second job. That's not really what I'd call progress on the security front. I'd rather be inconvenienced a little, and have better security.
Once you get into physical and cyber security, you soon learn to distrust anything new to the market. Half the fun is everyone trying to be the first to exploit a new system or piece of hardware, and it's big business now. Companies often keep found exploits on the down low so they can sell software or hardware exploiting them to nation states and private companies. Often in contravention of embargoes. As Italy did selling IMSI catchers to the Egyptian security services to track protesters during the Arab Spring. Unethical, yes, illegal, also yes. Profitable? That's why they do it.
Give me a key and a good quality lock any day of the week, and a well concealed kill switch is a good idea, redundancy or defense in depth? You decide lol.

Same. Mine literally is busting apart at the stitching lol. Try NOT having it in your pocket for a few days, you'll prob find something feels missing at 1st, then you realize how much more comfortable it is sitting, driving, etc.. I thought minimalist wallets were dumb, trendy, limiting options... 2 weeks trying carrying wallet in my edc bag, now Im browsing "Minimalist wallets" online for a replacement lol. Some cool handmade leather styles out there too if ur not into the whole hardcover "Ridge" style.

Now I’m curious how many he truly stole. Along with how many he’s sold. No way he does this by himself. Far too risky unless he goes the fraud route. Still far too many unless he’s very good at disguises and so forth

For something this big and n these expensive nice car I'll go with insurance fraud. The owner couldn't pay off the car or needed the cash so he found somebody who knew how it worked have them come take their car then the owner filed for the insurance and then the car thieves get the sell the car to somebody else a couple months later cuz old cars are too nice not to be noticeable in somebody backyard

Let me guess: because he stole them?
Also, for when you ask what that car is, my best guess is an M6. There’s also a Q5 diagonal to the Mercedes SUV. There’s also what looks to be a Sienna from the aerial view.
