Harrison Smith is a Top 10 safety to ever play the game, yet gets forgotten about time and time again. Compare his stats to Troy Polamalu. This is coming from a Steelers fan, BTW.

I agree to a certain extent, but stats don't explain everything. Troy made plays nobody could make, and stats don't reflect that.

This dude has probably been the best safety in the league, or at least the most consistently great safety for the past decade. I'm glad you guys got him on and brought him some attention. He absolutely is a HOFer!

Honestly, as a Packers fan, this guy is an absolute beast. Always in the right spot at the right time a great leader on defense. Nothing but respect for what he has done in his career.

Harry is the ultimate lunch pale guy. The hitman is the perfect nickname. Not only is he known to lay the boom but he’s very quite and subtle in the way he moves in life but every team knows when the Purple 22 is back there they’d better be careful throwing his way. He don’t miss tackles fan he’ll take your QBs lunch money.

The most underrated safety in the game the last ten years. Dudes been consistently a top ten safety in the league ever since he's stepped into the league. It's harder to be great for ten years than to be great for just one year. Give this man his roses.
Smith’s stats are better than John Lynch….he’s on par with other HOF safeties. He’s only missed ONE game in his entire career. Dude better not get that snub…

@@sharky1167 not just that, there’s also his college career too…the only player in Notre Dame football history to register more than 200 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 15 pass breakups in a career … leads or tied for lead among active Irish players in just about every defensive category, including games (38, tied), games started (34), total tackles (214), solo tackles (134), pass breakups (18), passes defended (25) and interceptions (seven). I’m pretty certain he didn’t play in every game because they wouldn’t let him, not because he wasn’t capable.
I’m a Steelers fan but Harrison has definitely became my favorite safety man he’s so good and don’t get the recognition he does deserve
Harry Smith is the most unassuming team player in the league. Minnesota has been lucky to get him, thanks to former GM Rick Spielman, who maneuvered to get back in the first round to snag him. One of Spielman’s best picks.

The Vikings also have another safety that's retired that absolutely belongs in the HOF... Joey Browner. If we were a team on one of the coasts you'd never stop hearing about either guy.
What coast was Rodgers on for his entire careers? The reason why nobody cares about the Vikings is because they always lose the big game.

How is a man this handsome AND good at football not get more media attention?
He’s a safety. Other than Polamalu and Ed Reed who both were on historically good defensive teams, safeties don’t get a lot of attention as they are considered less talented and doing an easier job than the corners.

This is exactly why i love harrison smith. He's not only very humble but you can just clearly see that this dude genuinely loves the game of football and wants to play it at a high level as long as he can. So sad he won't be in the HOF even though he very much and should be. Stats don't reflect the amount of work this man does for the vikings defense for 12 yrs.
Obviously a biased take here, but I would love to see him be somewhat of a regular on the show. He knows how to play the role he's been given, and he knows how to keep things unspoken. Great convo!

Listen folks...the Vikings have several players who were HOF worthy but either didn't make it or waited until the veterans committee put them in. It's simple, NO SUPER BOWL WIN. Joe Namath is in for ONE super bowl win. Many giant's players are in because of market and superbowl wins. John Lynch wasn't even the best in the NFC when he played, but he has a ring and played on a team with Sapp, Barber, Brooks,etc..If the Vikings, regardless of their market, had won ONE in the 70s, and ONE in the 80s or 90s, their would be several more of their players in the HOF.

It’s crazy. He’s from my hometown. He went to Knoxville catholic, there was another really great player named Dennis Rodman that went to Fulton, they showed their games on tv and I remember being glued to the tv watching them. It’s cool to see him have such a good career.

This past off season I saw an all time stat comparison of all the 6-7 major stats from a saftey against Troy polemalu (the stats didn't have a name tho so I had no clue who the player was) and it was such a tough choice deciding who was better. My 5 roommates and I all split the decision 3/3. then we saw who that stats were and we went insane. Dude is a sure fire hof and is never talked that's wild
Love the Hitman! Most underrated safety. Dude didn't make All-Pro one of the years that a QB would have a higher QB rating by throwing it directly into the dirt vs throwing it at him because everyone thought Earl Thomas was better because of his name recognition.
