Thanks for the guide . For some bizarre reason my Switch was point blank refusing to work on my new 4K tv , so I tried connecting it via my Xbox one X and it works perfectly. I was worried about this introducing lag but there doesn’t seem to be any at all , perhaps it depends on the tv ? 👍

Can you still play a Nintendo game with the Xbox controller ?
I doubt it since all your doing is plugging your switch dock into your Xbox so I think you have to use your pro or controller connector
Thank you this does work. But do you think this causes a slight input delay from the controller? In a game like smash every bit of timing matters.

I tried it today... it works fine except that if I try to stream using the mixer RUclips gaming method it only shows the waiting screen lol but it was worth trying though lol

@@10nirvanakurt use a computer it laptop and use Xbox companion app on it to stream ur Xbox to the laptop or computer and them use obs
This video is very helpful! However, I have come across 2 problems with my Switch.
1. Frequently, my screen starts to either freeze or lag.
2. I can’t hear any volume whatsoever

Maybe it’s a bit late, but if you still have the problem and you are not bored yet, you need to connect speakers (or the Tv if it has an AUDIO IN port to the switch while it’s docked with a jack 3.5mm cable. It worked for me, but it won’t work unless you use speakers or headphones. If you want to record sound directly you may have to put The Xbox and switch near a PC and put the jack from the switch into the line-in audio port. Hope it helps!

@@budgieboy1388 The lag depends on the HDMI cable you are using and on how fast the Xbox can get it. Get a HDMI splitter, one side connected to the Xbox and another to the TV if you want to record but not lag

Even with only 1 HDMI port in the TV this works. Plug in Xbox HDMI port into TV and plug in the Nintendo Switch HDMI into Xbox

Great video thanks! However, I don't think the Xbox One supports surround sound from the Switch...or am I just not doing this correctly? When I select "Stereo" in the Switch settings, everything works fine. When I select "Surround" in the Switch settings, I get no audio. On the Xbox settings, I've tried both "Stereo" and "Surround" input for the OneGuide, neither will allow for surround sound. Help!

How bad was the latency from switch inputs? I did this back in 2013 with my 360 and the latency made it unplayable from the hdmi in on my original Xbox One. Now it's the end of 2018 and I got an Xbox One X so I'm curious if it displays the hdmi image quicker now via either updates or newer tech 🤔

I lost my dock but I could buy a new one and actually play bc the dock wouldn't reach the tv anymore because it was recently mounted on the wall but I can now play it from the Xbox thank you so muck for making this

Tell me again why you would want to do this? Its not like youre using the xbox one specs to optimize your switch gameplay. Its just a video/audio gateway. No, wait. Atleast youre using twice the electricity now dont you? Nah mate, this is a solid tutorial, really helpfull.

Can you stream through xbox when your playing the switch?
Is there any advantages to doing this? Will i notice improved graphics? Like i can play Zelda upscaled to 4K
Advantages are you can switch between consoles if your tv on has one hdmi and you can record switch gameplay with the xbox. Graphics look the same to me.

Do this make the switch graphics better?
The graphics looks the same to me.
It makes the resolution and lag worse than it would normally, but it certainly doesn't make some games like Animal Crossing unplayable. Up to you if that is worth it

This video is out-dated. One Guide no long exists on xbox, and by extension you can no long use this method.

I plugged in my switch hdmi into the back where it says hdmi in (like it tells me to do on one guide) and no success it keeps saying "looking for your TV picture"

Never even knew that that was possible. So I can stream to mixer from the xbox but I can stream Switch games. Unfreaking-believeable! God bless you man!
How do you stream it? I just pauses the stream.

Just doesnt work for me, keeps nagging for my cable provider, and just says its signal lost.
If you are still having issues make sure your Switch is powered on before going into OneGuide and then it should say that it has found a cable signal. Then it might start asking questions again but there should be a skip button so after skipping questions it should take you to your Switch screen.
But yeah if you wake the Switch up from sleep mode and leave it on it’s login screen it’ll go back to sleep quite quickly and that might be why it keeps losing signal.
Sorry if this doesn’t work, it just that it just did for me, and sorry if you’ve already sorted it out on your end as I realise your comment was from about five months before mine.

could you use your xbox controller on the switch?
no u have to use a special usb drive which basically connects the Xbox controller through Bluetooth to the switch by sending code to the switch saying the controller is a switch controller even though it is not

I want my son to be able to use his switch through the Xbox . I have the switch right now plugged into HDMI 3 directly on the tv , it works you can play splatoon but the game has no sound , I’m gonna try one guide over the weekend and I’ll let you know if it works; still had. problem when the Xbox sent commands to the tv ? didn’t seem to work, sometimes I think the more tecky it gets the more complicated it is
Its strange that it had no sound with the hdmi 3, i would switch hdmi cables to see if its the cable thats faulty. Good Luck! i'm happy to help. keep me updated. :D
