  • Fix It Right! - Front Hub Bearing Replacement (S1E3)
Demonstrated on a 2004 Kia Sedona FWD.
In this video, we demonstrate how to perform a hub bearing replacement on a front-wheel-drive minivan, in this case a 2004 Kia Sedona.
    ** SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED **
This repair task requires special tools and/or equipment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please read the disclaimer text at the start of the video before attempting anything shown therein. Take your time, take care, and be safe!
About the "Fix It Right!" video series:
"Fix It Right!" is a series of how-to videos intended to give do-it-yourselfers basic instructions on proper vehicle repair and maintenance. All of our videos show real repairs being performed on real vehicles by real technicians in a real auto shop. (Repairs are filmed and shown with the permission of the vehicles' owners.) Although there may be more than one way to perform any particular repair (and in many cases there are lots of ways!) we try to focus on the methods that will be safest and most expedient for DIYers with limited access to tooling and equipment.
We will also occasionally be showing repair processes that are too complex or dangerous for DIY, or require specialized tooling, expertise, equipment, and/or certifications. Those episodes will highlight the importance of hiring a professional auto technician for tasks that are not DIY-friendly, and demonstrate why such tasks are best left to professionals.

Perfect timing - just what I needed to see. I need to replace the same bearing on my 04 Sedona and this proved it's no job for a backyard mechanic! Better take it to the shop.

first video I found that actually showed someting of value all the rest show how to install an new spindle with bearing attached, "okay take out the bolts what help is that and pop in the new spindle bearing assembly". This video was very useful unlike many others.

This is one of the purposes of these videos, to show how to do it right if you have the ability to do so, and if not, show you that its time to take it to a shop.

great video, wish we could have had a few close ups of the work the gentleman was doing but oh well if you know what your doing you can imagine the rest, i really like these manual presses, we have a humongous press at my work that's hydraulic that could punch a hole thru the earths core, lol, i think with a manual you have less chance of messing something up. i gotta do this job Sunday and i learned a few tips from the video i had forgotten about, its been about 10 years since Ive done this..

and on most front wheel drive cars bearing has an snap ring to make sure the bearing dont slide out the hub. needs to remove it first before pressing the old hub and bearing assembly out.

Should have illustrated torque values when re-assembled! Maybe a few lighted close-ups. Other than that, great video!

Hey there! Nice video, You mention removing the snap ring retaining the bearing, The one i'm doing right now has a "blind" ring with no ears for a typical snap ring tool. have you ever run into one of those?

+Rob Vas What you could have done is take it out yourself and have a mechanic press the bearing. It's about 50$ that way lol

There must be a seal between the hub and the steering knuckle, right?

very helpful video. if you have to see directly what he is doing and cant understand by reading captions, then you dont have enough parts knowledge to do the job, so you may want to consider finding a mechanic that does have that part knowledge. and if you cant read, please please please stop working on vehicles, you are going to kill people.

I know the hydraulic press is easier but wouldn't it make sense to use manual press tools seeing how I doubt most DIY'ers can't afford one?
