You have the uncanny ability to make literally ALL your content equally compelling!
I think it's your infectious positivity that makes watching an oil change or a surprise spider seem as compelling as a foodie tour or festival visit.
More power to the four of you!
You're the best, this is such a big compliment thank you so much!! 🥰 it really does mean a lot!
Even seeing an empty canal has a fascination about it, all the history and what its seen yet now destined to make more memorable time for years to come .xx
I was counting how many times Amy said nice at the start of the video but I lost count. You are a great history teacher Amy :)
So was I 🤣👍
Hi guys great vlog, a stop lock is usually where two canals join they jealously guarded their water, and a gauging lock is where they would have checked the boat for draughty for the purpose of extracting tolls, happy spring cruising x
I went to School in Wendover (John Colet) and used to walk home along the canal to my little village in Weston Turville, so pleased to see it’s finally being restored to its former glory!
Did it still have water back then? What year?
@@philtucker1224yeah it’s always had water since I’ve grew up there from 1991 to 2010 😊
The Canal is an old feeder, the original plan was to make it just a feeder, no boats, it's an old chalk stream. They realised at the time that the cost difference to dig it right out and make it navigable wasn't much different.
The bridge in Tring is actually a new build, its concrete with a brick covering. It's a very nice bridge for a new one.
Just up from the basin you moored is an old rubbish tip, this is the biggest thing stopping the restoration and they've been working at digging it out. There isn't really anything stopping it from being restored all the way.
The old mooring bay is new work, there was a stoppage on works which is maybe still in place, the canal leaked so bad it ended up taking water away through leakages, the whole thing is being lined, if you look at some of the bits between where you are moored and the first bridge you can see the tar in the banks where they tried to seal it back in the day. It's having a bentomat lining now.
I cover canal restoration's on my channel and I've been there a few times
Also just up from you is the Buckingham arm, that's another that's being restored, they opened bridge one last year for dredging and it's nearly ready to be opened to boaters. It may be worth contacting the society as they may wish to meet you and give you a tour
‘a shilling per ounce’ classic! You two are brilliant!
The idea of restoring the last four miles of that canal section really floats my boat!
I believe they are always looking for volunteers! ☺️
Hey Wes,
One reason why GeGe's engine does sound better is due to that air filter, the engine was literally being starved of clean air and then struggling to get the right mix of fuel and air. To put your mind at ease, after running the engine for a while just check your work.
You are truly moving through some enjoyable territory.
So kind to give the runner a lift over the mud.
Take care,
Mark
Alberta, Canada
The engine sounds so much more quiet..great job! When Wes had the green hood up and the orange jacket...first thing I thought was, "he's getting ready for Easter." 🥕🥕 LOL Another great vlog..safe travels till the next one. 🥰
Haha 😂 all he needed was a green hat!
Thank you so much 🥰
Amy your hair is gorgeous. Love all your sheep neighbors
I enjoyed seeing what an empty canal looks like! Thanks for sharing
You guys truly are just Nerds. And THANK YOU! Love all the info, and I never would have been able to see the “inside” of a canal. Again, thanks.
Greetings from the mountains of North Carolina. Enjoying your video and following along with my Collins waterway guide #1. It is wonderful to see the young folks , their travels on the canals . Have fun and many thanks.
I love your vloggs👌 and your background music is amazing!!!❤
History time with Amy is always a treat! Really hope you guys get to see more of that arm when it's opened up. Far future episode? :o
haha, all that knowledge! What a treat 😂 Ooooh yeah we would love to! Will keep an eye out 👀
This said with much love... Wes, I think it was because the vlog began with some yummy food for Mr Dupes, but your outfit made me think of a giant carrot!!!! 😂😂😂❤
Happy for hire boat season? Having just been 14d on the water I already despise novice hire boaters, especially the drunk ones - and that after having hired the boat ourselves. But it was funny waving twice to you - at both sides of Braunston! Now I'm sad our holiday is over and we had to leave Audouin's Gull behind!
Ah the memories! Its so lovely to be seeing places we were, but Boat Timey ❤
The grassy knoll. Reminds me of Windows XP. 😁
Winter wasnt bad this year. Lighter nights and springtime emerging is the best time to experience. Makes us feel So much better doesnt it.😊😊😊
It's amazing how Amy can conjure up historical knowledge just by looking down and slightly to the side. What a fascinating technique.
Very interesting vlog from you both and yes welcome spring we sure do need it tc now the oldies👍👍🤗🤗
What a nice spring vlog! It is certainly a relief that the weather is getting brighter, and an end is coming to living inside, staring on a grey sky and mud everywhere. We can return to nature and gardening 🤩
Gorgeous!
I'm glad to hear that they are going on with the restoration. Nice mellow little tangent! Cheers!
Brilliant upbeat vlog. you two are amazing. I love your mugs too.
Love it!! What a lovely cruise! Thanks for taking us with you! Glad the engine is happy 😁❤
So enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing your growing love of canal life. It’s truly an adventurous journey to your eyes and hearts. Great job on the video editing. Music. Scenes and dialogue. Thanks again. From
Michigan. ❤
Great vlog as usual and so nice to hear from the worlds greatest expert on the Wendover Arm.😊
Lovely guys, needed some nice vibes today! X
Fun video. I enjoy seeing new things like the empty canal. I also thought of a carrot with Wes's orange and green. Looked great.
While your flowers were lovely spring colors, not spring flowers, they were fall/winter chrysanthemums. Looked very nice on the roof like that.
Rufus was ecstatic running around in the field. So cool. Stay safe and well.
Enjoyable vlog.💚
Hi Amy and Wes, doggy too. We just subscribed to your Chanel. Love going along the canals with you. Lots of fresh air is good for you. I'm held up at mo as broken a bone in my foot and waiting for new hip. Oh the Joy's. Look forward to watching all your vids.😊😊😊
Your happy mood is infectious.
Thank you so much! 🥰
Hi Amy and Wes. The Wendover Arm looks like a nice quiet place (other than the argument that you heard!). Glad the engine was fine after the service. Take care. Nick
I like the history lessons! Keep em up!👏
We only just found your channel, we bought our boat on the Slough arm and are loving watching you do the same journey we did. Great vlogs, wonderfully entertaining 😊
Great vlog as always guys ❤
Continue the joy of living and life.
Good job Amy ❤
10 out of 10🎉
thank you! 🤩
Hi Amy and Wes just finished binge watching your vlogs and enjoyed every minute. You have made me laugh so much and really cheered me up on a bad day. Looking forward to watching your next journey be safe and good luck and big hugs to Rufus and Doops x
Thanks so much for going back and watching them all wow! ! 😊so glad you like them 🥰
oh dear, I'll be out hiring in May, I apologise in advance! Actually, I'm not tooooo bad, just learning as I go. I cannot wait to get out there again! 😊
A bit of that flour factory made me think of a Victorian prison... I don't know what that says about me! 🤣
I'm fascinated by empty canals but the first thought that goes through my head is 'ah, there's no way I'd pull myself out if I fell in the water there!' It'll be amazing when it's done!
As for Fyre Festival, they should've called it Bin Fyre Festival! the accommodation sitch was shocking!!
Another great vlog & particularly loving the chill jazz vibe... niiiiiice! 😉 Take care for now! Claire xxx
What a lovely couple you are! 👍🙏
Thank you! 😃
Your boat runs much better after an oil change and filter change.
Safe Travels and Enjoy!! 🫂🫂🫂🫂
It’s actually Cows Resting in the fields
Engine does sound lovely now xx
We think so too! You really can tell a difference haha!
@@BoatTime Wes the boat whisperer
You two are so cute. ❤❤
Thank you Dominic! Hope you are well 🥰
The reason for the " Twisty " brick bridges is for strength , much stronger than straight brick .
Nicest couple on the canals for sure ❤
Wes is still the funniest (sorry Ames)!
why was I expecting to hear the "admire this year's rooftop greenhouse crop!" from the salad dish scene. Because I'm partly programmed by the pat system. Luckily I'm watching this channel now ✌️🌿🌸😆
We’re in MK so looking forward to seeing you come up through the area. We went down to Slapton last summer. Just north or the Marsworth reservoirs and we were moored perpendicular with where the great train robbery took place. Middle of nowhere for two glorious 30c days! Between slapton lock and church lock was absolutely lovely to cruise through.
Oh no way thats so cool! We did an escape room themed around that. Must've already gone past that bit, lovely! 😊
I used to live in Stantonbury in Milton Keynes. Loved my time in the U.K. I was a Social Worker , my office was in Bletchley
As always Xx
You were a flower boat Amy 😂
CHG or cruising the cut said there was a boat builder on the end of the mill site at one time.
Hope you found the canal towpath walk to Wendover while you were there !
Surely you've already seen disused canals (under restoration) if you've cruised the K & A? Somerset coal canal near Bath and the Wilts and Berks canal near Devizes! Also you could have cruised to Bristol along the Avon and hired a pilot to take you to the Gloucester & Sharpness canal without going back down the K & A.
have seen closed off canals but haven’t see one being actively restored! 😊
Amy, I genuinely thought I’d heard you say the spider was after your knickers not bickers 😂🕷
I wouldnt put it past that sneaky guy 😂🕷
@@BoatTime 😂😂😂
💜💙💚
One query for Wes: is the lead attached to your coat at 21:15 in the video attached to Rufus's collar or to Amy, so she can make sure you don't wander off?
😂😂 its my way of keeping Wes from running off
That is haygates flower mill
If you haven't passed Cosgrove yet restoration of the Buckingham Arm may be worth a look
I do hope you are one of the dog owners who picks up after your dog. So many walkers along the canal just don't bother.
You can clearly see Amy getting green poo bags out and picking up and carrying Rufus's poop.
Not only do they pick up after Rufus with biodegradable bags but they pick up other dogs 💩 from the towpath too!!!! Good work BoatTime
One shilling per ounce fine so if they were a ton over (eg a builders bag of sand) they would be fined £1792 seems a bit high
Please share the name of the app you showed when on the Wendover Arm. Stay warm and safe. M
I agree the canals were a smart move, but British parochialism resulted in too few broad canals which can take 4 times or more load like the much older French canal system. Pity the 299' contour plan was not realised across much of Britain - it'd have been such a boon to modern sustainability. Oh well. (luv from NZ)
Wes looks like a pumpkin in this episode 😂
Oh nooo where are The Bears? Lol
I have celiac disease xxx
Please no more emptying toilet’s 🤢☮️
oh we wish too 😂
You gotta do what you gotta do. I like all the little jobs that need to be done because it is part of your life. The shopping, laundry, cleaning, errands, and tours of all the towns you visit. Life with Wes and Amy.
I lost how many times she said the word Like Like Like…
