With Spring finally coming out, we enjoy a rare weekend of nothingness; taking our surroundings in by baking, flying kites, and we even catch the magnificent sight of a starling murmuration... 🐤💐

OMG a skyfull episode - it's been so long since I've flown a kite - I'd forgotten the joy!! I'm so impressed that you put a drone up too!!! Mr Maps made me laugh, the cinnamon yummys made me drool!! Starling murmatations are absolutely fasacinating, Nature is amazing.
Enjoyed watching the kites soar high in the sky, simple pleasures in life are the best (I’m 55yrs old and have never successfully flown a kite 😳🪁….I am now going to put it on my tick list)

Starling Murmuration, they collect in huge numbers , before roosting for the night. Its done to confuse any birds of prey. Ballet in the sky. Beautiful.

@@janroberts1815 Each bird turns just after the bird in front, like formation flying. Its a miracle of nature for sure. I can stand and watch them and never ger bored.

Loved this vlog, from the banging cinnamon rolls to the kite flying 😊. Tring is better when it's open 🤔. And your sign language skills are definitely improving - I could follow along (although the subtitles and lip-reading might have helped 😆)

Birds (in this instance probably Starlings) all flying together at sunset IS called a “murmuration” 🙂
Some people say that they fly together like this for safety in numbers, but my favourite reason is that they are exchanging information about the good places to find food.
I like that idea, it’s like a BIG gossip session (about food) in the sky.

Ha! The juicy marbles. Our little hooligan of a Patterdale terrier Monty nicked a whole one out of the still
hot but turned off oven where it was keeping warm on the plate!!! I got our plates out and one just had the chips and peas and no steak! Very naughty. Every time I cook now he just sits by the oven hopefully 😂
Btw they are amazing braised with onions and mushrooms in gravy 😋

One of the debutant errors with kiting is that the string is far too short, please use at least 20 meters or 60 ft of string when you let the kite up or start running with it… that allows the kite to go up without restraint

We have heard mixed results of it, it’s expensive and the main issue is the clear line of sight thing, which you often can’t get on the canals with lots of tree cover etc.

Nothing like getting a kite out to make the wind disappear.
Apparently a murmuration can have up to 750,000 birds.
I did the exact same thing with pastries how ever after cooking mine looked awful
The swifts have returned and as our apartment is on the 17 floor we at the same level they are catching insects

I've never understood the point "why would you make it look like meat?" like meat comes in mince/sausage/patty forms by default... people confuse me :/
I"m sorry - I wouldn't touch that stuff - it's as bad as macdonalds full of nasty things.
I was told that if you use some strong cotton to cut cinnamon rolls it doesn’t squish them like cutting with a knife does( wrap it round then pull it tight to cut a slice)

Love your channel and watched since the start, much prefer the older format though I must say. I prefer the clunky, rustic rather than what to me, feels forced in the latter episodes you guys are doing 😢.
