STORMS ARE COMING - VANLIFE NEW FOREST
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 окт 2024
- Join us, Carol & Ken, as we take a trip to the New Forest in our Consort Nova Motorhome called Snoopy.
In this video, we feel trapped in the van with a severe weather warning for strong winds. Should we risk a wet, blowy walk along the beach?
Later, we check out Crow Farm shop, as suggested by @TristandKez, and buy some goodies.
As the weather improves we park up in the forest for a spot of lunch then take a walk around Stoney Cross where we discover Ocknell Campsite.
Time to cook up a curry and get cosy in the van as we contemplate Storm Nelson on its way tomorrow.

Carols face when you said you’d have that pork pie in a bit, had me creasing…her face said it all 😂
Yes she cant play poker very well 😁👍
Yes try a van festival. Both of you look so much more relaxed, the new van has been a good choice, and we are getting a bit more laughter and fun with your interactions with each other, nice to see.
Thanks Diane 🙂
I love you both, enjoyed the video thank you for sharing 💖🤗💖xxxxxxxx
Your retirement is my life goal. Still working hard in the classroom, paying into my pension religiously with an eye on a camper van & travelling in the future. Thanks for the inspiration. Lovely calm video as always, I love how you compliment each other so perfectly. 👏👏
Keep paying into that pension. It is well worth it in the end 🙂
That was the fastest 30 minutes ever! I wish we had farm shops like the one you filmed. Stocked with the very best foods. I like the idea of buying local.
In the UK we have all shot ourselves in the foot by using supermarkets. The quality is poor, everything is in large bags and its expensive. We all failed to use our local butchers, bakers and green grocers and now most of them are gone. The French never fell for the convenience con. Over there most towns have multiple butchers etc. I wish we could go back to the high street but we have no chance. The convenience of Amazon is now killing everything else. ☹️👍 That Farm shop is an oasis of how things were.
@@LifeistooshortCK Exactly what has happened in the US. Walmart killed all the small businesses with cheap inferiority.
I just found your videos yesterday and I really
like what I saw. I live in Maquoketa, Iowa USA so i am enjoying your travels. I have subscribed. 😊
@@gaylegoeschel9850 welcome 😀 Thanks for subscribing 👍
Spice Tailor is the best curry I’ve found. Comes in a little kit with spices. Yum!
Totally agree 🎉
Thanks for the tip 👍
Nice one guys! Cheered me up. John Collier advert for menswear! I remember it well. The mushrooms and egg on toast looked delicious. It’s been a hard time recently for my sister and I have recently been down south to help her so that she can look after her terminally ill husband. Life is Too Short right enough Ken and Carol. Take care everyone and enjoy life as much as you can.
So sorry to hear about your troubles. We never know what will happen next ❤️❤️❤️
Glad you got yourselves a tv
Really is home from home
Especially with the British weather 🙄
Becky xx
The TV has really surprised us and we wouldn’t want to be without it now.
Hi both 👋 That farm shop looked amazing 🤩 I like mushrooms on toast, with cheese & marmite underneath it 😊 You definitely needed your waterproofs. Never been to the new forest, must change that as I love ponies. Thanks, Em & G 💜
You can’t go wrong there if you like ponies. 👍👍
Happened across your channel. Absolutely loved this video. So relaxing with such beautiful scenery and delicious food. What else do you need?! Aloha from HAWAII and a new subscriber 🌺
@@vynidalopes251 welcome aboard. Thanks for subscribing. Greetings to Hawaii 👋❤️
Every town had a John Collier tailor, also called 'The 50 shilling tailor'. Can remember going with my Dad when he was having a suit made and the pattern books with all the fabric swatches. 😂
At first I thought your channel was a bit boring, but I gave it a chance. After five minutes I was hooked. Although it comes across as a bit cozy, I realise you two are mr and mrs Nice from uk, the same as all us middle aged Brits were brought up to be. I love the New Forest was brought up near there. I love your frank realistic discussions and photography and sound are good. Boating is more my thing, but you have inspired me to maybe rent aMH and try it out. Many thanks, please don’t take my comments the wrong way, subbed and starting my binge !
We watch a lot of youtube and enjoy everyone who creates and shares. Our channel is an antidote to the age of constantly being super excited about everything. We offer a break from that and we glad we kept you watching long enough to show the difference. We are not offended at all 😁👍
I felt the same way, but I'm kinda hooked. There is something comforting about their videos. 😊
Lovely comforting food meatballs and spaghetti, yum. The weather has been quite changeable (those poor people caught out without coats).I always take a waterproof with me just in case.I do a "posh" version of mushrooms on toast, mushrooms in cream on toasted brioche buns.Thank you Carol and Ken.Safe travels.See you on the next.
Carol's hair looks lovely grown out a bit xxx
I love a beach walk ,no matter what the weather , thanks carol and ken 😊
Our pleasure!
You guys are awesome. Keep the videos coming. From Seattle Washington. Bless you both!
@@johnGalluzzo-f5h greetings to Seattle. Thanks for watching ❤️
I was drooling at that butchers counter! The marbling in the sirloin steak and, those pies 😍
Plenty you would love in there for sure 😁👍
I live in Florida, USA. You cracked me up oh it’s a nice Summer day 🤣🤣🤣
Haha! You remind me slightly of Darth Vader in that windy rainy walk gear, Ken!
The spaghetti meatballs looked SO GOOD! I've not long had dinner, but got hungry again after seeing that....
Carol and Ken taking advantage of the warmest spring on record. John Collier was a High Street tailor chain around the 60s and 70s.
Yes I remember that ad..
They were in competition with Burtons gentlemen clothing.
John Collier, John Collier, the window to watch!
I had a suit from one of their shops until my Dad started working for Hepworth's and my allegiances changed!
We thought it was a clothing store 🙂👍
My first time watching ... loved every minute of it!
Welcome
Hi ken and carol we love watching your travels so relaxing and ken you do make us laugh so much. I was watching your cooking and when you started eating the pork pie? i had a song pop in my head humpy Dumpty sat on the wall. 🤭 Ask that Ai what it is please. Your van is looking so cosy now. Your old photos where grate carol looked so different with dark hair. Stay safe guys see you on the next one. Michael & Kim 🤗
Must be as old 😢as me re the John Collier ads. 70’s. Always in there with my dad getting a new suit for him !!!!
I just loved Carol's reaction to your idea of having one of those pork pies later. I think that would have been my reaction, too. It did make me laugh. 😂
Yes I spot them a mile off 😁👍
Very enjoyable videos - mainly because it's really nice watching two decent normal folks deal with their day's issues. The only comment I would make is "Boy - more cooking ?" - seems like a full time job going from breakfast to elevenses to lunch to 'tea time' to dinner with almost no space in between to think about something else. What we tend to do when facing cold, unpleasant weather of course - it's all about comfort, but I hate cooking so for me this is like my penalty for being a substandard 'woman' ! I keep telling myself this is a wonderful way to learn other people's cookery - but something in me always rebels - so cheese sandwich or anything else simple is how I resolve my crises !!! You have my admiration for your happy van life & wishing it to continue for many years !
😁👍
Hi guys, I just subbed in the 80s. Stoney cross was 8 pounds a night we were taken there a lot as kids. Really like your blogs. Keep up the great work.😃
@@destheenforcer757 thanks for the sub. Campsite prices have gone up e through the roof lately. We used to pay £2 a night for a Caravan Club CL in the 90’s 🙂
So enjoy ur cosy meals ..in the van..thanks Carol n Ken.
Our pleasure!
I've only just found your channel and have to say i found this video extremely soothing for some reason. It's winter where i am (Australia) so i'm staying in today 😊
@@chinchilla1956 welcome to our channel. Thanks for watching. Have a good weekend 🙂
Yeah guys. It’s only a mistake going along the closed seaside road unless you do not give Snoopy a fresh water bath especially it’s belly (undercarriages) to avoid expediting any rust issue later.
In fact, it’s a good culture practice to give Snoopy a thorough wash each time you go camping near seasides.
It gets a good jetwash at home 👍
We've no chance here then
Another great video👍🏼
(I stopped watching Those Happy Days, their click bait titles started to get on my nerves)
Click bait is a phase that all channels go through. We did it in the past but soon realised it harms growth and annoys people. 👍
They go to amazing places though 👌
I stopped watching Those Happy Days too because of the click bait thumbnails and the fact that every vlog is Liam waffling and he says "we're gonna be doing sommat" .... but we'll tell you later and then "we're gonna do sommat else" .... but you'll find out later and "we did sommat" but we'll tell you later. Oh my Gosh do they really think that sort of nonsense is a clever way to keep viewers viewing. It had the opposite effect on me
Good vlog guys, we were at that farm shop 3 days after you and I had to have a pork pie too, delish 😋 we were at Setthorns for Easter, love the Forest. Stay safe 👍
So good!
Great vlog I think Ocknell is about £18 a night in July the no tents sign is because a few people never bothered to walk to the toilets that are open 24 hours a day stay safe guys 🥰🥰
Thanks for the info 🙂👍
Ken, did the tv come with the van. Perfect size for it. Nice horses for sure.
Yes. Wouldn’t want to be without it now 👍
TV looks great ❤
Oooh you watch all things we do too!
We've discovered Tesco's own tinned korma and also veg curry. Surprisingly nice and handy for lazy pre-prepared meals!
If I bought a tin of Korma I would have to put some curry and chilli powder in it 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK wise choice! I'm a curry wuss! My face falls off at the very thought of chiili! 🤣
The van looks awesome
Thanks for another great video I hope you are both ok in this heatwave I know yous don’t need telling but keep hydrated and find plenty of shade
Edit sorry my bad I thought this was the latest instalment I don’t know what I did there 🤦🏻♂️
We are good Liam. We are at home now but it sure has been hot. 👍
Thank you both ,you are like a peanuts time machine John Collier and mushrooms on toast things iv not heard or eaten for years don’t worry about storm Nelson theres no arm in it 😂 well done good luck both 👍👍👍🏴🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
Haha. Thanks guys 😂😂😂
Good video on travels keep up the good video thanks lee

There's a song called, " Life is to Short " it's by Life breakthrough. Real pretty song.
Couldn't help but think of it as your app. is the same, 👍❤️
Just listened to it on RUclips music. Very apt 👍
Loved it. As always! 😊Lauren
It really is a mobile apartment on wheels
What were the chances?!
We have just watched this video and to our surprise (and delight) you showed a clip of Andy & Claire’s video on your telly, it was one of their Van Talk episodes - and our van flashed up on your telly!!! Small old world hey.
Amy Paul & Ted 🐾
Haha. You’re right. Thanks for watching 🙂
Your right on the John Collier jingle. They were bought out by Burtons. Whatever happened to them
Loved the "dogs dinner " 😂😂😂
I'm from Stockton, 65, I remember the advert as well. John Collier was a man's outfitter, like Jackson's the Taylor from a similar era. Never heard the info referring to Stockton about it before ? It wasn't windows, it was ' John Collier, John Collier, the window to watch. Another men's outfitter at that time was Dunn and Co. They also had adverts, which you can still see on youtube now for nostalgia. John Collier as well, evidentally you could get a Saturday night suit for £10 19s and 6d at John Collier then. My dad would be turning in his grave they could get a suit for 60 s in his day from the 60 s Taylor, mind you he would be 105 today, if he was still with us. He died at 90 but served for 4 years with the reme in North Africa as a Desert rat, el Alemein, Monte Casino in Italy, Montgomery, Rommel etc.
Your dad saw some hard action in the war. I think the answer from that AI assistant was waffle as I had never heard of that explanation before 👍
Many more had a hard time as well, his best friend out in Africa died in action, as well as many others, who we all owe a debt of gratitude for the ultimate sacrifice. We wouldn't be having this conversation now, if he hadn't have come home as one of the 'lucky' ones.
😂😂😂 you know us too well. From this point on we shall refer to each other as the softie northern campsite huggers.
Thank you so much for featuring us in your fantastic video. We really appreciate what you’ve done for us 🙏🏼Safe travels both of you wherever you are ❤
😁👍. I know you two appreciate humour so I thought I would share a bit. Hope it brings some new subs and views ❤️👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Thank you, it made us laugh.
Those dispersal points were referred to as “Frying Pans” due to their shape from above. Are you sure that young Sgt wasn’t John Craven 😂
I am a time traveller 😁👍
Best curry sauce = Co op. Try it!
Lots of things are good at the coop we find 👍
Ahh guys thank you for the shout out. We’re so happy you loved Crow Farm shop and the Pork Pies. We think they’re the best we have had ever. Hope our paths cross one day. Have a great Saturday guys. Love Trist and Kez x
We were down at Milford when you were there and never realised. Will say hello next time 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Ahhh no way, we still look out for the little red van. Need to retrain our brains for your new Van. Happy travels wherever you are at the moment guys x
@@TristandKez thanks, you too 🙂
Yes John Collier was in every High Street & pushed out those adverts in the 50s 60s 70s
Can't believe the amenities that you have compared to where I am in Illinois. Farm shops, free parking lots out in the country, beautiful walks to take. Nothing like that here. You are so lucky! I miss England so much!
Sorry to hear that. We sometimes don’t appreciate our country enough.
I love you guys heaps! But please please never snap the spaghetti!
Yes its a rather traumatic habit we are trying to break 😁👍
I’m thinking Ken needed a second egg on the mushroom toast 😊
@@CannyBlether-dz6hj don’t encourage him 😅
Hi great videos as usual. I wanted to ask ken why you call carol charlie brown. and bunny, I do think its endearing.
They are just two of many pet names I use. They came from nowhere really.
Carp live in rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds 😉👍🏻
Thanks for letting us know 🙂
Really enjoying your new forest travels, especially as we live nearby. The blast from the past photos were great too.
Glad you like them! 😀
I love Snoopy! Little Red was all right… for one person.
Now you have the luxury of space, which you both so richly deserve.
Little Red was perfect for one, especially if the rock and roll style bed is replaced with a long bench bed 👍. Without a doubt Snoopy is a palace in comparison. Lots of fun though in Little Red over the years.
30 minutes is a nice length video.
Love the old photos! And of course pure relaxing entertainment from you both.😊
Carol I'm with you I love mushrooms on top with scrambled egg and a dash of hp sauce. 😋😋😋
That pork pie has me drooling. 😢
It looked raw in the middle though.
I remember "JOHN COLLIER" THE WINDOWS TO WATCH. THEY SOLD QUALITY MENS CLOTHING IN THE SIXTIES, THE JINGLE WAS FROM THE ADVERTISMENT ON THE TELEVISION.
Thanks for letting us know 🙂👍
There is a Norwegian expression " There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing" 😊
Both of you are just lovely!😊 I just subscribed.
Welcome ❤️
I'm 62 and remember well the tune and advert for John Collier 😊
Rewatching on a big screen and I have a question. Where do you put your wet gear after a rainy walk? Thanks for the videos.
Great video ken & Carol thanks for sharing 😊
I enjoy your videos , we are in our Motor Home , half way between Jasper and Banf in the Canadian Rockies
Have a great time in the Rockies 😄
Uncle Bens korma or medium curry jar with added ingredients goes down a treat 😋
The musical SPEND SPEND SPEND had the song "John Collier" - it was an 'earworm' for you as the Americans would say.
Well that earworm worked a treat 👍
Why oh why would you go out in the weather? Hilarious video though!
So we can say ‘nice and cosy in here’ when we get back 😁👍
You two simply amaze me going out into that weather!

Yes those stones are ours. We have walked the trail and met the couple Jayne & Nick who created it. We will feature that in a forthcoming episode. ❤️👍
Enjoyed the video this evening. You were so brave trying to drive on the road where the sea was coming in . Ken how did you get the caravan to move with the remote control . Take care.
There were two electric motors one on each wheel but it could have been my magnetic personality repelling it 😁👍
Lovely. I turn RUclips on and find Ken and Carol with a new vlog plus a new one from Oot n aboot too. You remind me of each other and both are always such a lovely, well put together and relaxing vlogs.
Had a lovely hour watching both vlogs. Thanks ❤

Love that!
Lovely to see those fab photos from the past. What action camera are you using these days Ken ?
Not using one now. Switched to Osmo Pocket 3 and a Canon Zoom.
I am surprised that you don't rinse your dishes after washing with soap.
Water is more important when wild camping.
We have Pataks Balti with turkey curry. Hubby won't eat chicken, says chicken gave him food poisoning years before I met him. We have been married 48years!!! Is he for real!!

Probably 👍
'Nature stands no nonsense' and 'mushrooms on toast are highly underrated'.. you have captured me on a philosophical and visceral level!! I love that you seem to see the best in all situations!
😁👍
And in fact mushrooms are one of THE most nutritious foods you can eat - almost as good as steak ! Vegans know this well - I am vegan-when-I feel-like-it - about twice a week !
It was a gentleman’s clothes advert from the 70/80”s. John Collier John Collier the window to watch. Use to be a smartish mens out fitters. Slightly more up market than Burtons. They seem to just disappear from the high st. I can still remember the one in our town but i’m an oldie :)
Hari Om
Not a Tern, Ken... Black-headed Gull. And there was no named storm in March, according to the Met Office... we had two in January (Isha and Jocelyn) and then Kathleen in April... but there was a lot of bluster prior to Kathleen properly hitting. Either way, that was quite the blatter you faced! And you are becoming quite the van chef!!! YAM xx
Pork pie looked a good one 😂 love mushrooms on toast
Great episode loving the relaxed ‘our life’ approach
That pork pie was a belter 👍
Love to watch carol ❤
Please use both handles together when you pick up the kettle. I'm worried you will burn yourself if it wobbles to one side! Happy camping 😊
