Hi folks thanks for watching. We had significant issues with the heating as you will see in future episodes. Rest assured we were fine and the problem was fixed by Consort Motorhomes very quickly 👍
Having a loo and shower is a huge improvement. Also gives you a place to hang up wet coats.
I got excited thinking you had adopted a dog. I wouldn't be without my little chap
One day 😁👍
Enjoying this as you drove right through our home patch! If you're ever back this way let us know and we'll stock you up with flapjack and top stop-off and park-up tips 😉 We are in Kirkbride.. not to be confused with Bridekirk!
Thanks for that kind offer 🙂❤️
when the van's rocking , dont come knocking
Sorry not long following this channel but Mr Van. Don’t know your first name…………….have you ever considered narrating for audio books as you have a lovely voice for that………..love watching xx🏴🏴🏴🏴🥰🌈🏴
Never narrated a book before 👍
That would be a great idea.
I was thinking a podcast would be a great idea
You travel in a small castle on wheels! Snoopy seems at his best in tough weather conditions. The music in your videos is always very beautiful. Many thanks!
That's why National Trust cafe's are so good- no music!
Growing up on a farm, I’d be stopping at all the “posh” farm shops. Love looking at the stuff.😂
We will stop at some 😁👍
Blessings, laughter love and fun in your new Snoopy.
Thank you 🙏
I like your selection and use of music - keep making good videos!
We had the same issue with the glass top on the cooker in our Hymer. After a little trial and error the ideal solution turned out to be travelling with a fabric drainage mat under the glass lid. A perfect fit, cheap as chips from B&M and serves 2 purposes because you then use it to drain the washing up when not in the road.
I use the cheap square material draining mats you can get from B&M or home bargains for our cooker when on the move it's just the right size to go between the glass cooker top to stop any noise and then you can use it on top as extra work space so not to scratch the glass top😊 Have a good week wherever you are 🚐🥂
Good tip. B&M has some really useful stuff for van life
On ours it was the wires and copper pipes underneath rattling. George
@@MakeDoAndMend1 it can be a nightmare trying to workout what is making the noise
Yes the only real way would be to have someone in the back whilst driving to pinpoint the noise. I need a quiet private road 😁👍
Haha that was funny when carol said to Ken, have you got the app? Ken said, I got the chicken going!❤❤
Food is very important.
Hello Carol and Ken,
Lovely to catch your latest video and your wonderful new van.
The scenery as always is spectacular and I enjoy it.
Thank you for these wonderful videos I so adore the English and Scottish country side,
even with all the rain. 💞
Glad you enjoy it 👍
So fun thank you for sharing your adventures ❤
Greetings from Canada! I am not much of a traveler but I do love watching your adventures in the U.K. Your new camper, looks the business. I hope you get many years out of it..Cheers.
Thanks ❤️
Brilliant video again and i agree loud music playing while your trying to hold a conversation and trying to enjoy a good breakfast can put a downer on it and its a shame especially when the food is good and it looks inviting from the outside.
In my van it’s the Corian cover for the sink that rattles. I place the dish cloth (washing up cloth?) on top of it to dry with one edge hanging down into the sink to make a tight fit between the top and the sink rim. I also put paper napkins, given out liberally by fast food restaurants, between my dishes and bowls in the cupboards to muffle their rattling. We learn these things as we go along, don’t we?
our last van was almost silent in comparison
@@LifeistooshortCK I find that taking out my hearing aids makes all the rattles go away. 🤭
@@willar7179 now that’s a good tip 😉👍
Hello from Michigan .. love following you in the new van "Snoopy ".. miss the little Red Van .. I am so happy to follow the new journey that you both share .. we love the narration of all your videos and your adventures .. more, please...
Little Red is a great van. We will be selling him as soon as we get back.
I love your videos, it was delightful to hear history of places you have visited. With love Lynette 🤗🥰
I just found your channel and I adore you both. I love seeing the countryside
Thank you 🙏
Hi Carol and Ken. Been watching you for a while now since Little Red. I’ve started watching the Other Windsors now as well as you. Thanks to your mention of them. Lovely to hear of your friendship with them. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Wonderful viewing.
Another super video, really enjoyable. The little dog your friends gave you looks fab, as did the cakes! I am looking forward to seeing more of your adventures in Scotland.
Excellent and...very relaxing of course.
The most relaxing and caring people
I've been to Gretna's Green 24 years ago. I hardly remember, so thank you for taking me along. Sorry that the weather wasn't so good. Take care 😊
Love the little wire dog. Behaves better than ours 😂. We went to a hand tying service at Gretna a few years back. Bit of a ripoff prices there. Ah Glen Caple. Thanks for the mention guys. 🙏. Curry looked tasty. The water looks a bit treacherous there. We love the food there. Thanks for another good one guys 🚐🧙♂️
I wonder if it ever floods
Greatly enjoyed the previous video and this one as everything is so very interesting, scenery, wild life, general comments and sharing the nice home atmosphere in your new van..... looking forward to all to come....keep safe...
Glad you enjoyed it
Great vid Carol & Ken 😁
Thanks 🙂
Such differences in the different regions. Lovely countryside
We travelled that road in autumn- it was totally stunning and the weather sunny and warm- beautiful. Just sorry the weather is not better for you.
It was all good and a good test for the van 👍
Love your new dog! Breakfast looked tasty. Great you are in Scotland. Welcome Carol and Ken!
Cheers
Love the dog. No walking, no feeding, no vet fees and doesn’t bark. Perfect as a travelling companion. Loved your journey to Gretna Green, which looks a beautiful area. Bye for now.
So true! 🐶
We have a webasto diesel heater but anything can go wrong ( it hasn't yet fortunately ) so it is always wise to have a back up. We always bring an electric blanket with us. On a 1 kw ecoflow delta 2 it can go all night if needs be. Did dib dib - be prepared ! On the camp site from the hook up, we also have a fan heater in an emergency. In a small van it is just as warm as the diesel heater.
We had a fan heater in the boot but it was not that cold 👍
Nice vid, i long for that breakfast. Your right about those farmshops prohibitively expensive. Wishing better weather & good heating.
We’ve just watched this while sitting at Caerlaverock Castle Corner camp site. The car park with the height barrier is next door. Lovely spot amongst trees, with walks through the nature reserve to the castle. £10 a night, the same as Glencaple. Also has a tap and chemical disposal. Definitely worth looking for, if you are up here again. 😊
Has the mud dried up
@@LifeistooshortCK it has, in fact we’ve never seen it this dry. This is about our sixth time here and there’s always been muddy puddles everywhere, but not this time. 😊
Great video. Ive just returned from a 2 week trip around the nc500 in my van, with friends who were in a Bongo. The trip was amazing and the scenery stunning, i will definitely return and do some of the islands. Im loving the van and im pretty certain it will be on my shortlist as and when i decide to change. That said my Murvi conversion on a transit, performed superbly well, and my friends were able to use it during our down times. (Late in catching this one).
How busy was the NC500?
Watching one of your videos and got a thrill, you were in mitcheldean Gloucestershire my father immigrated from there we still have cousins there. So thanks your new Canadian Fan. I live in southern Ontario Canada near the Detroit River. Love watching you both. have fun
Hello Carole in Ontario 👋🇨🇦 Thanks for the lovely comment 🙂
I have not explored this area of Scotland, think it needs to go on our bucket list. We have just come back from a trip to the Outer Hebrides and love them. Scotland has so much to explore and so varied.
Its a nice area. On this trip we didn’t have a lot of time but we are back again now.
Hi Carol and Ken we have just watched your vlog on Lake District and Gretna Green visit and south Scotland thank you so much for such brilliant vlogs we absolutely love your sense of humour Ken your so funny and we enjoy all the information you two give us
And snoopy is so cool we love your new van 🚐💨
Like you we love watching Ellie and graham from wizard and love the other Windsor’s like you but you two are one of our favourite you tubers
thank you so much and we’re getting married on Saturday 27th April in settle we camp o lot in the Yorkshire dales so it seems right to get married there we are both 60 years old
Congratulations in advance of the big day. May the sun shine for you ❤️
Another great Vlog guys. Look forward to seeing your adventures. Dumfries and Galloway is a beautiful county to see. ❤❤❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Hope you enjoyed your overnight at Glencaple. Really nice area. The Boathouse is fantastic, was involved in all the Plumbing installation with the company I work for. I stay in Dumfries and it is a fantastic area for motor homes
Glencaple was a great stopover and we enjoyed our breakfast in The Boathouse 🙂
Hello, another great video. The last time I went into the tourist shop at Gretna Green was on the return trip on a coach holiday. I know it’s built for tourists but it was a great place for our coach to pull in for a mid-morning tea stop. The sandwiches and buns were lovely and fresh and didn’t seem to be too expensive compared to other places we stopped at, especially compared to the Motorway service stations.
They have a big restaurant now although we were a bit late for that one.
Thanks!🎉🎉
Wonderful videos Carol and Ken!! Brilliant!! Well done!! So enjoy seeing all your adventures!!
Thank you for the Super thanks. We appreciate that ❤️
Hi guys, loving the new van, you’re looking more relaxed. If you’re still in or near Dumfries and Galloway check out the Red Kite Centre, Laurieston. Great place to visit with amazing view of the kites. Have fun, Geoff
Thanks for the tip 👍
Lovely video both, shame about the height barrier. I remember the park up from the wizards, brekkie looked delicious. The Windsors are very talented! Sorry for delay we are travelling in Scotland 🏴 atm 😁 Em & G 💜
Well we hope you have the same weather we have in Galloway 👍
I'm with you Ken, my pet hate is background music. It spoils my enjoyment of a meal.
It’s called background for a reason. When I was in the restaurant trade I used to get a right telling off if it was set too loud. 👍
My lovely old Dad used to have kippers for his breakfast all the time - those looked absolutely delish !!
Thanks guys that was a lovely video 👍
You’re welcome. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂❤️
If you are evernear Methlan House in Dunbarton please look for my friend Elizabeth Dalley she has a bungalow inside methlan house and walks their with her 3 little dogs Their is a huge Rock we all think of as our friend.Beautiful .!
I can’t find Methlan house on the map?
Hello you two, hope you aren't very cold and the heather is fixed. Nice idea taking out a map!
We were fine but had to wrap up warm
At the top of this week's episode, I could tell you were enjoying that lovely cake Ken 🤣🤣
You were right about that music loud enough to give you indigestion.
Cheers 👍 🐸
Those cakes were amazing. I hope Bernie sees this and sends me some more 😁
Totally agree re loud music. I often turn around and leave if it’s too loud and they don’t agree to turn it down
That cafe was good except for the music but we have also walked in and straight out again in some. 👍
Hi Guys. You always look so cosy in Snoopy even without a working diesel heater. Bernie says the last time he was at Gretna Green, they were just building it lol. Blue sends his love and we all look forward to seeing you both again soon. 😊🐕🚙
Thanks. Hope you are having a good trip 👍
@LifeistooshortCK AMAZING...There's that word again..🙂👌🐕🚙
Your mentioning the train reminded me that the last time I was up that way was in 1959 and the trains on that line were steam hauled. I was on a detachment to Eskmeals and stayed at the station hotel with two other guys. Mrs Watson asked us if sherry trifle would be all right for dessert. She brought in a huge bowl of it and there must have been a couple of gallons of trifle in there. It was empty when we were finished!
Far better than these mass produced trifles we get in the supermarkets these days. My mum used to lace it with sherry. I like an extra thick layer of custard on mine 👍
Awwww you got us there!! We thought you had got yourselves a fluffy pal 🐶
Sorry to disappoint. We don’t think we could cope with a dog just yet. You both do so well travelling with lovely Pippa and Dolly 🙂🐕🐕🚐
The buildings you saw were the remains of the Chapelcross Power Station, owned by British Nuclear Fuels.
It was operational until 2004 and is currently undergoing decommissioning.
You're actually treading the path we'll be taking later in the summer. It's a beautiful area, and often driven past as folk head to the Lochs and Highlands. Look forward to you future vlogs.
BTW Truma heating is so sensitive, unfortunately it's not as push button as folk expect. We've found with ours in the early days, powering it down for 15 mins and then retrying often helped.
You'll find YT is a far better instruction manual than the written one!
Thanks for the story on the power station. The Truma diesel can be a tricky beast but once its working is great. More to come on that story 👍
Not sure what year you were married , we were at Gretna Green in June 1995. It certainly looks different now, at the time there was a Scotsman playing the bagpipes in the car park. All good theatre for us Aussie tourist at the time 😊👍🇦🇺❤️
Two gorgeous people 🙏
What a surprise to see the village my mother grew up in, Brydekirk, didnt expect you to head towards Dumfries in that direction, your comment that the church sits in a dominant position was correct, mother attended Sunday school all her childhood and also Kirk every Sunday, until an adult then broke free of it. The service when I used to attend would never start until the local gentry lady arrived in the front pew, she had funded it over many years until her death. They had great influence over small village life, It brought it all back to me! Loved it.
Great to hear that. We love it when the videos bring back memories for viewers. Makes it worthwhile 👍
With the title of the video I was expecting to see a nodding Snoopy!I think you got the better deal with that lovely "wired" terrier.Even with the height barriers I 'm glad you got to park up in some nice spots and the weather we've just come to expect (rain) doesn't detract from them.Safe travels.See you on the next one.
Yes, we love our wire Terrier. Thanks for watching 🙂
Great video thanks for sharing 😊
Nice vlog Ken and Carol. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Those four towers is what's left of chapel cross power station.... You just passed my house in Gretna Green....
Thanks for the info on the power station 👍 Hope you waved as we went past 😅
Enjoyed this. The cafe looks my sort of place
Hi, lovely video . Safe travels❤❤
Some how you popped up, and now I am here, all the way from New Zealand. That is my dream, to drive around New Zealand in a camper van. I love your videos, may be one year come down here for a camper van tour I would love to meet you both
We would love to. We have a video on the channel of when we toured in a car 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Is that the red car? I will check it out. Thank you for inspiring many of us to get off our butts and explore
Lovely video guys ,thanks for sharing . Hope u got heating sorted .
All good now 😁👍
Thank you for interesting video.
Carol and Ken, am always amused by your asides; dirty trains and spinning wheels😂 But you left us in suspense about your diesel heater and how you survived the night.🤨
🇦🇺🦘
There is more to come on that story 😁👍
Yeah, I don't like pop music in restaurants at all. Some chilly piano lounge jazz is fine.
The A78 is a lovely coastal drive
As always worth watching thanks
Cheers 👍
Great parkup love that area of Scotland
Excellent Video, Thank You
You are welcome! Thanks for watching 🙂
On a clear day from Silloth you can look over the Solway Firth and see Dumfries and Galloway. From the M6 at Carlisle to Southerness.
I just been watching your videos, and I noticed the comment on the red pepper.. if you have any left over, slice it and pop it in a freezer bag and freeze it! Just cook from frozen, saves any waste 😊
Thanks for the tip 👍
Great video. So sorry you had such rainy weather.
Hi Larry.
Very enjoyable video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Another great video.
Can’t wait for the castle vlog now 😂❤
😊
We've stayed at Glencaple and loved it.
I was so excited to see where you were visiting. I have read about Greta Green for years in my historical romance novels and never thought it was a real place. You made my day!
It’s real and people do elope and get married there 👍
I’ve just bought a piece of cooked chicken for our meal in the van later as I didn’t fancy cutting raw chicken. Your idea of cutting the meat once it’s been cooked is brilliant and I’ll try that next time! Always learn something new here! X
Glad to be of help 😊👍
Enjoy your blogs..+Very nice fish and chips @ Silith and ice cream
Disappointed about the dog 🐕 but enjoyed the video
If you buy a cheap hand towel and sew up the long edges to make a sleeve for the glass lid it works really well. Just check the towel is slightly wider than the lid.
Thanks for the tip 👍
Thank you both enjoyed as always booked our first of the season at Cirencester, just got to finish the van now pressure is on me and Amazon are having a hammering well done good luck both 👍👍👍🏴🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
Fingers crossed you finish it and can start reaping the benefits 👍
Check out the Porridge Factory at Longtown before you leave.. Great vid
Thanks for the tip. We are back up to finish off what we couldn’t see on the shake down trip. Hopefully we can see it 👍
Wow, thank you for visiting Gretna Green. This id where my husband and I married in 2001 and we stayed at southerness. Was a lovely vlog to watch. I just come across your vlog. I will now subscribe and enjoy your adventures
Glad to rekindle that memory. Southerness is in the one after next episode ❤️👍
Lovely video carol and ken your curry looked delicious 😊
Enjoyed the video. I new the barriers were going to affect your parking. You can't beat a nice bit of bacon, toast and egg. Thankyou.
I thought they would but so far its happened far less than I thought.
Another great video. Memory lane for me. I remember a family childhood holiday to Siloth. My sister was married at Gretna Green. I had no idea about the retail opportunities 😀. I love your wired Border Terrier gift, I must look up your friend's contact details, thank you for sharing. I hope you got the heating in Snoopy sorted out quickly. Your breakfast looked amazing. Enjoy your return journey to Scotland. 🚐❤️ Xxxx
On this latest trip we are actually seeing the sun 😁
Gretna is a handy stop for a cuppa (the cafe is lovely), but yes the shop is pricey.
Hope you enjoy exploring D&G. We love it there! N&Nx
We are having a great time
My sister & I did that route to Scotland on our trip from Australia The weather was pretty bleak & about the same time of the year. We visited The Devil’s Porridge Museum around Annan I think it was. Loved every minute of Scotland.
We might try and visit the Devils porridge 👍
Hi Carol and Ken When we lived in Devon we went on a few bus tours to Scotland and Gretna was the stopping point. You obviously managed to avoid that but it was Piccadilly Circus when they all arrived. The breakfast at Glen Caple looked delicious but I would have asked for the music to be turned down, as you say it is for the benefit of the staff not customers. At our local Costa I have had to ask them to turn the "muzak." Look forward to the next video from the homeland. Regards Crawford from very sunny but cool morning down here at the moment.
Cheers. Crawford. Hope the sun comes out soon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ❤️
This is what I might do next year when I retire..but on my own .love your channel
Go for it! Enjoy your retirement ❤️
Thanks!
Wow, thanks Martin. Much appreciated ❤️
