Make sure your billet material is not so strong that it becomes brittle at failure. Think of bolts- you should never use Grade 8 bolts on the suspension because when it fails it cracks. You want to use Grade 5, which will bend at failure.
I honestly have no idea why they went billet when those two parts could easily have been lasercut sheet metal. Would be faster, cheaper and very similar in strength depending on the material choice

That is not a Porsche design. I believe they were the first ones to use it on their road car (maybe), but they didn't develop it. Audi and Acura I believe were the first due to regulation changes. I believe it was a safety rework, and also shrunk the wideness and height of the wings. Look at the 2009 Audi R15, or Acura ARX-02a.
