The Bend used to be the local Mitsubishi testing grounds (they used to have a plant in Adelaide), subsequently bought by the Shahins (who had the 'On The Run' business) one of the brothers, Yasser, races in WEC.
You can tell they wanted to to cover both good business and great event capabilities at that place. It really is an underrated spot
The only issue with The Bend is how far away it is from Adelaide. Wish they did up Mallala (as they also own) to the similar level as The Bend. Would be very popular.
@@userisalex that's a dud argument... it's 50min from city to mallala and 1hr8min to the bend..... it's hardly 'so much further away'......and the bend is already very popular...
Besides, mallala isn't anywhere near the track that the bend is.... no where near as technical or versatile.... and mallala gets used for police training every week, so a government contract is a key thing to keep up so they have good relationship standing....
@@becauseluken The bend has absolutely no atmosphere regardless of what event is on there. The seating facilities are almost non existent and there's no way you can get to half of the track unless you do the park and view. It is a good track, but it still really needs a lot of infrastructure improvements. But it also needs bigger events than Supercars (which is a shit product nowadays anyway) to justify the extra spending. I am waiting for either WSBK or MotoGP.
@@becauselukenand his brother Sam races in the Porsche carerra cup Australian series
@@userisalex Mallala is also a far away from the main cities, I've been to both places and it took 1hour - 3 hours depending on the traffic
Today Supercars announced they will be running a 500km endurance event here from next year. Good to see the bend back on the Supercars calendar.
Will be good to see, but still Supercabs to me.
They have the Adelaide street circuit
I heard the Shahins brought the Adelaide 500 so he can cancel that and make the bend the main south aus track.
@@sadspud5499 They might have convinced their mates in government to cancel it but then they lost the election and Labor brought back the Adelaide 500. The Bend is the best permanent race track in the country, should have supercars there every year.
@@sis6157 ah okay I didn’t know they brought it back, it would be sad to see the Adelaide 500 gone, and I agree, the bend is by far the best track in the country, so much to do there not just the track itself.
2:30am here in Australia, about to go to bed but no chance now ! 😁
Time to relive the good times !!! ❤
Go to sleep Mitch 😂
@@Squiddy97 You're not my real dad !
Thanks for coming to South Australia 🇦🇺. Glad the world get to see our amazing track. I was lucky enough to have to privilege of helping build it.
Also the people that built it Owen all the BP on the run service stations. Just sold them for 1.2 billion
The Shahin family built it.
@@Vtorious123 Fun fact. The Shahin residence at Sellicks Beach has a dirt track model of the Bend track in the front paddock. maps.app.goo.gl/EdKc9wYWFSrfBRje8
@@Vtorious123 and they criminally underpaid their employees!
@jama211 cool story 😎
My stepdad is one of the architects behind The Bend and its facilities, he worked with the Shahins to make the dream come true. They absolutely love their cars! I still remember going out and visiting prior to it being open to the public. I've been back a handful of times to go go-karting and the likes. The skypad has to be the best view to watch any race around here! A must visit if you are ever in South Australia!
Too bad theyre a bunch of scumbags who failed to pay overtime, underpaid staff and used eight different wage minimisation tactics that enabled gross underpayment of its staff.
@@CW-yp9jo You obviously had no wage agreement, or you failed to read it before commencing work with the company. I'm a sparky with own business but have worked on wages in past. It seems common sense went out the window.
@@thedonkey8825 No they're a bunch of scumbags, I used to work at their company - They made employee's clean their cars, and gave you weird looks if you weren't management. One of them an exec at the company used to pull people into his office and verbally abuse them. Scumbags
@@CW-yp9jo They lebos laughing my mum laughed at this comment she worked for their laundry mats and bp back in days and said they were like that. aussie arabs alwats stringy. but i know many lebos will lend money and great humans and pay well also
Let's give these guys the support they deserve to keep motorsport growing in Au.
I'd rather not support criminals.
Thank you, Misha, for giving people a road map to success in the racing industry. Polite, professional, not letting it go to your head and still showing how fun it can be for enthusiasts.
I didn't realise how big The Bend actually is.
Only the Nurburgring is bigger now Australian has 2 big Beauties Bathurst and the Bend
i dont remember it being that big, my dad used to race motorcycles there a couple of times a year, but he passed away more than 20 years ago so the memories must be pushing 25-30
i sure as hell dont remember any of the corporate stuff. im damn sure i remember it being just another regional raceway like Mallala *looks up mallala* what on earth is going on.... that deeeeeeeeeeeeeeefinitely wasnt that shmicky last time i went there! What on earth have i missed!
Circuit de la sarthe is 13km?
Le mans @@rencelani-ty2sc
Its alright
@@noinfo9130 You might be thinking of another track. The Bend opened in 2018 as a redevelopment of the old Mitsubishi test track.
The wind ain't gonna stop me from going there. Also, Misha, thank you for coming out to Australia! We appreciate it!
Never thought I’d see Misha drive a Commodore but I’m here for it
I work at the track, I'm 65 yrs old and STILL have a mad passion for all things motorsport. Nice to see you here for this sampling.
No way! South Australia content LESSSSS GOOOOOOO!
That’s pretty. Watched the Bend from the Supercars. Never knew it was a bigger layout. Only second to the Nord. Wow.
Noice I love that you're still putting out content from your trip to Australia! 🙌
I was there Thursday the 3rd October. We are riding from Melbourne to Perth. Whilst at the bend we did 4 laps of the 7.7km track. It was awesome. They have done a fantastic job building it.
Having worked at the Bend, it looks great, but running large events and getting spectators in AND catering for them, is a logistical nightmare. It’s a drivers paradise, but they struggle to do right by the spectators
Yes the dining portion is quite small compared to how many people it can hold
I live in Adelaide and have had the pleasure of being on the track. Love that you came to see our beautiful home!
We did some S5000 homologation there with GRM a few years ago. Absolute balls out track!
(For the Australians that's another failed Australian category that didn't have a roof and doors, that in the end banned from Bathurst because the power weight ratio was too high)
I'm glad your having a good time in my country!
Wow...Tailem Bend...I was a three year old when my family lived there and my father worked for the railways...we had to evacuate to Murray Bridge during the 54' floods and never returned. She was a sleepy little country town for a long time...wild horses wouldn't convince me to visit but it's good to see.
Oh wow!
Misha gets around! Nice
Not sure who gets around more... Misha or my ex-girlfriend.
im glad you're sponsored with hyundai! you are such a great ambassador! hyundai makes some cool cars lately!
Is he a rally driver for them??
Welcome to Adelaide! Of course you went to the bend 😁🏎️ Enjoy!!
Thanks for coming to my home city Misha!! Hope you had blast!
You have to bring food shots back to the main channel! Didn't even realize they were gone until you mentioned it in this video...
Took part in a 3 day long Lemon styled endurance in 2022. Massive fun! Will run again in a few weeks time in albeit a shorter but just as exciting race. Please come again and hope to see you in a race 😊
Holy shit, what a massive and impressive place
Hope you enjoyed your stay! We are super fortunate to have the bend right in our backyard.
🇦🇺It’s so cool that you’re getting a chance to see one of not only Australia’s most underrated tracks, but possibly the world. The Bend, in my opinion, could one day hold the Australian F1 Grand Prix 🏁🏆😎 What are your thoughts 🤷🏻♂️. A big follower from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺👍
Might be some logistics issues. Adelaide airport is too far away. They like to land a 747 nearby for the cars transport and need a convoy of tankers to fuel it up. Not insurmountable but it is a challenge.
@@rogerpearson9081 Yes, unfortunately there’s a few reasons why that magnificent circuit won’t see the action it can clearly handle but as hard as they promote it, as far as the F1 circus goes when Albert Park is what your up there against 🤔🤷🏻♂️
built and owned by the Shahin family, very wealthy and successful family in South Australia, they are car enthusiasts, race drivers and Yasser in particular is a world class driver!
Was there the other week with the lads and ladettes. ❤
I did a track day there two weeks ago, had I known you're visiting us here in SA I would have asked you to take my Quadrifoglo for a few laps at The Bend.
I love the bend.. Such an amazing facility.
As a guy who has lived in Adelaide most of my live bar 9yrs in Western Australia 🇦🇺. I would like to see Adelaide get back formula 1# 😀 ❤
SA is the worst state to live In now with a modified car on the road though huge laws against mods now 😢
my condolences.
@@jjsorenavki7005 bro i saw a p plater (wa) pulled over just today for his lil hilux with a flat tray and the rear mud guards the cop was measuring, dude had run of the mill tyres on, the tray was for his dirt bikes lol, securing points and all
rather it in the city but wider . not at the bend.
This even looked awesome!
Having him sign the bonnet, boot and inside on the porche. Sorry but that looks hella cheesey, each to there own. Also the falcon with side pipes looked like a cool build, good vibe.
Absolutely loving this channel Misha and the content! Hopefully, I will get to meet you one day! 👌
27 minutes of vlog, wow!
But that was one amazing experience!
What a great venue....must go there one day.
Sheesh, so much development in only a few years of opening
Interesting bit of history is this same land was a dragstrip called River Bend Raceway in the early 70's. It only lasted a few meetings before it was gone but the land remained zoned for Mororsport. Chrysler and Mitsubishi Australia then owned the land and tested vehicles there on rare occasion. It then sat unused for years until this new facility got the go ahead. None of the original infrastructure remained so it is all new.
Nice one Misha. Just to let you know. I prefer to follow you on this channel instead of watching you go round and round in circles. Real content. I think will have to do some cartoons like i did when you started with Apex. Right, catching a plane to Split, then a bus ride to Makarska
Welcome to Australia Misha. Maybe a few more visits and some touring in the future? Been a long time fan of your "ring" videos. Maybe one day Ill get over to do a few laps before I get too old and decrepit. Keep up the awesome content!
Holy crap. Never heard of it and i grew up in Australia. When did Australia get time to do something this awesome??? Tell me I'm dreaming...
Great to see you down here, I've stayed at The Bend a few times, it's a great place & the track is world class, Rj from Nth NSW
Omg can't believe you were only recently at The Bend!! I was just thinking how cool it would be to have you at our home town track and drive one of our cars. Damn! Missed opportunity!😢
Welcome to OZ Misha, hope you get to Bathurst, have a great time and be careful .
This is unreal. I couldn't believe it when I got to watch the leg of the Asia Le Mans series there in 2020, then they pull a stunt like this and bring in a legend like Misha!
What next, MotoGP, F1, Misha driving an F1?!
I went there a few months ago, that car collection has cars that rotate through it. Watching multi class racing was awesome
I’m going there next Saturday 👍
LOVE THE 2ND CHANNEL!!!
my old man used to race '250cc Post Classic Buckets' at the bend so i used to get down there a couple of times a year.
Love the bend visit it all the time great track and great facilities
Just picked up my new Hyundai Tuscon Elite N Line Diesel last week. Drove it home from Mornington dealership to Mildura Vic 614 km and it is the most comfortable car i have ever owned and that includes two V8 Benzes plus 6.7 ltr/100 km. Next trip in the new car will be to the Bend as i have never been and cant wait.
Nice - hope you enjoyed Adelaide, South Australia :))
Welcome to Australia! Will you be at Bathurst this weekend? I have a friend racing in the Superutes this weekend!
Superutes is such an underrated category, it was a blast watching them spit flames up and down the mountain
Welcome to my home track. Enjoy.
Drags coming up soon. Spring Nationals.. Its a great venue.
Awesome will you be going to Mount Panorama as well?
its a panel van , not a ute . nice one too 👍
Unreal spot, new more places like this in aus
What they need at the end is a massive parts shop, a cross between Summit racing & Superautobacs, then it will be a true Motorsports heaven.
4 kms on the dot. the track of zolder. in belguim. did a morning track session. took me 2h to drive throuth a new set of brake pads.
zolder is known, as the brake killer/eater.
another good video
I hope you laserscanned the track for AC Evo :D
It is a great place. Apparently, the owners travelled all around the world visiting race tracks researching before they designed it. ✌️🇦🇺
13:30 thx for showing my car lol
Back in the day when automakers still manufactured cars in Australia, that site used to be the location of Mitsubishi Australia's testing tracks.
I've had a drive at Mallala, a track about an hour and a half from the Bend and also owned by the people who own The Bend. Nice place, got to drive an Excel circuit car :D Hyundaiiiiii
What are you doing, Misha? We are trying to keep South Australia our little secret. Now everyone will show up
Welcome to Aussie Misha 👍🇩🇪🇦🇺
I think you must have been here not long after I made my video there (but I got no fan fare lol)
This place is phenomenal. All this time I just thought it was a racetrack.
What I didn’t know you came here! I wish I got to meet you.
I like what they're doing at the Bend. I still know it as Talem Bend. People with a bit of foresight.
There's another international carting track in CQ - QLD. Near Emerald.
I live an hour away from this track and I've gone karting on it before.
Surprised to see that lady as the owner of the Porsche :) we need more ladies that love cars :)
Onya Brad
I though i might point out the South Australia does not require annual road worthy inspections. Unlike MOTs in the UK or similar in Europe.
So that white Corsa/Barina quite possibly has never had a annual inspection in it's life. It also helps that Adelaide is hot and dry so that Corsa/Barina would be pretty much rust free.
Good video
My mother used to live just down the road from there. Now she lives not far from Bathurst.
This is so bizarre, I walked almost everywhere you did on the 7th of October, and this was posted on the 8th... I could've bumped into you if I was there at a slightly different time/day
20:37 nice of you to take a photo with Rainbolt
whaaaaaat! you came to SA! Awesome
Looking forward to seeing Misha in a Commodore!
When you go there you realise how much earthworks were done to change the flat topography of the area. There are a number of elevation changes.
u should come end of movember they are doing 7.7km track with a enduro race part of the state series round.
That’s incredible! 160mb/s upload speed. Fastest thing at The Bend ! 😅
Welcome to Australia Misha.
The briefing room needs sound deadening added to the ceiling.
Cant wait to see the track pop up in games!
iRacing has already scanned this track for development.
ruclips.net/video/yN9Ig009x_s/видео.html 8min 50 into the dev update
A random cameo by the ioniq 5 N, or "hot suv". 5:45 also the "hyundai N" signs are permanent??
Thx misha good 2C thx for as I may go there for bike day & ride my bike there so thx again; I like the things U do on northlifer thx again Ashley an
we actually have more rain in summer than winter over here
Very interesting, thank you Misha
At 6:16 there used to be a Bugatti Chiron super sport 300+ behind the glass, I was there when I last went to the bend but it has been a while
I saw that car as well with the P1 GTR and 918 I suspect it was sold or was rotated out for some reason
heyyy good to see ya out here!
Definitely Impressive but doesn’t have the chutzpah or beauty of Phillip Island or even a road course like Bathurst ,
but it’s accessible between 3 states.
Like most tracks, it is so much better with bikes 😂😂
wish misha got to drive a xr6 turbo on the track haha
