Meinl Pure Alloy Custom - [Side By Side Demo & Review] - Siros Vaziri

- Every single cymbal from the new for 2020 Meinl Pure Alloy Custom series demoed side by side. 🥳
These are seriously awesome. A bit darker, warmer and with slightly shorter sustain than the regular Pure Alloy's, but still bright and shimmering with plenty of volume and cut. Perfect for rock, metal, cover bands, and anything in between. Check them out!
Minimal EQ/Compression done to the overheads and cymbal sound overall here. I kept the exact same mix settings for every cymbal, too, so any difference in volume/sound between them is 100% caused by the cymbal itself.
Please note that this video was produced before my endorsement with sE Electronics, which is why I'm using other microphones here.
Hope you enjoy - thanks for watching!

Thank you for actually hitting the cymbals in your demo❤️ other demo ppl take notes
🔥🔥🔥 I was just gonna say my favorites are the same. Fuckin' love that 20" crash especially. This is the line that Meinl has been missing imo. Something that competes in the same space as the Zildjian A Customs, except these are a lot smoother, warmer, less abrasive and ear-piercing, but still nice and bright. Also really love the bells on all of these.
Have the 20 and 18", both awesome, But the 18 is smoove like butter
Was thinking the same thing regarding a competing line at a more affordable price!
Listening to these through headphones having hit a Zildjian A before, Zildjian in the bin with their metallic shiny cheap notes. These are buttery smooth, and I believe that so much, I've ordered a 19" Medium crash XD
Totally agree. Meinl has the classics customs but they don’t they aren’t the b20 alloy and make them sound and feel like intermediate cymbals which they are priced that way as well. Meinl also has the byzance brilliant and traditional lines which is my favorite lines ever but they have been missing that cutting bright shimmery cymabs to compete with zildjian a customs and sabian aax cymbals. Byzance are more going against the sounds of zildjian k’s and Zildjian A’s and sabian hhx but nothing going against the A customs which are super popular for louder music. The pure alloys was a nice step in that direction but these are def even brighter but still smooth.
The production value is INSANE.
I love the crash comparison in all possible setups 👍🏻 now I want all of them :)
Thank you man, I appreciate it!
Your kit sounds great ! Awesome demo...And playing !!!👍👍🔥
Thank you, much appreciated!
Awesome demo! Really interested in these as an alternative and more affordable choice versus the Byzance Series. I feel these really bridge the gap!
Love the format of this video and production quality, it really gives you an idea of what they sound like individually and as a set. Wish I could find more videos this well done.
Meinl has hit the sweet spot with the Pure Alloy Medium Thins for me.
Though I prefer the 18-19" crashes. Bigger ones get too sloppy.
Great video demonstration, love the hats and that ride!!!
Killer tom fill at around 4 minutes!
Thank you, much appreciated!
Killer snare drum! Holy shit! Oh yeah, cymbals awesome also!
That ride cymbal is just godsend
I second that
I'm a big fan of it too!
I´m not the biggest fan of the pure alloy series, but these sound really good.
Same here! Too bright, too heavy. These are more classy.
@@perpetualgrimace too heavy ? They are quite medium to me, you must play cymbals out of paper xD ( no for real, everyone has a different taste, to me they are perfect to be honest. )
@@Philipp.of.Swabia I like heavy hats and rides, but I don't go any heavier than medium thin for my crashes. Don't like the way medium weight crashes feel or sound.
To clarify, the original post and my comment were referring to the pure alloy series, not the pure alloy custom series in this video - those are medium-thin crashes.
@@perpetualgrimace ah i see, yeah I like both, the normal and the custom series, but I get your point, heavy crashes are wrong in every aspect, even for metal players, and the problem is that they are mostly made for metal, which makes no sense cause metal is mostly fast and technical, but with heavy crashes you have to hit very hard to get a good sound, but when playing fast that’s almost not possible. Kinda an error on the company’s sides.
The best cymbal review ever made...other brands need to take notice...
Damn those cymbals sound GREAT
Dude you deserve a lot more views your production value is insane
Much appreciated!
WOW!! Super cool video!
Great Demo Siros! Can't wait to check these out!
Thanks man, they're great!
GREAT VIDEO...BEST LOOKING CYMBALS OUT THERE..
Good review format
oh man that fill at 4:34 🤤
Came to hear the cymbals.
Stayed for the groove.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
sounds good thanks for the demo. what is the snare drum?
I think the regular Pure Alloy series sounds better IMO. One thing about this brand and series is that if you are starting from scratch and building an entirely new cymbal collection, these cymbals would work great, especially for the price point.
Mixing these into an existing cymbal set outside of maybe employing the splashes and Chinas? Not so much. The Byzance series don't have that problem though.
Might you try to do like a "metal show off" of those cimbals ? Would be awesome as this demo already sounds killer
👍🏻 thank you
Grt demo. 🍻
That snare sounds absolutely amazing! Do you have a tuning profile for your snare sound?
Thanks man! Check out my 70 minute tuning video series at www.sirosvaziri.com/store 🤘
That is what blew me away! That snare is amazing!
thanks for test
Can you make comparison video between pure alloy and pure alloy custom?
Can we play Rock and metal music with this ? The hammering reminds me Paiste RUDE Cymbals...but those Pure alloy Custom are much more pleasant to the eye!!!
Absolutely, that's where these excel in my opinion!
@@sirosvaziri Thx for the answer dude! ;)
That ride sounds amazing. I'm looking to get a good ride that is crashable and that crash on that sounds great, but I play more pop punk and was told to look for a 21 or 22 ! Wondering if this ride is too washy for the genre? My first initial thoughts in it that it sounds better than the one I have now, its too washy, but felt like that since these are thinner and they open up more, I may have a good chance with this one? Thoughts? 🙂
I wouldn't call this washy, I think it'd fit pretty well for what you're looking for 😊
great ! I'll look into it. 😊@@sirosvaziri
Was Uptown Funk playing on your mind while demoing the cymbals?
Haha you could think, but no!
great demo video and they sound great! Are they the same B20 alloy?
Not sure, but I think they're B12. Should be the same alloy as the standard Pure Alloy series though.
@@sirosvaziri ok that makes sense, thanks!
😯
to early... can't watch a comparison video in 360p...
