I was 18 when I first saw UFO, 1979 Sacramento. Judas Priest opened for them. I'm 64 and I listen to them almost every day. Three summers ago, I got the ice cream man to play Rock Bottom when driving down our street. I'm at that age where I don't give a s***.
Strangers in the Night would have sounded very thin without Paul's fills and backup rhythm playing and keyboards...he truly was that inside glue you don't think about when you say, wow, that song was great. His duel leads with Schenker on SITN are magical.
The song has meant so much to me over the years it's hard to put it into words.. pure beautifully melodic rock from Masters at what they do..of the Greatest..
This is quite possibly the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. The studio version is great, the Strangers in the Night live version even better, but this version takes it to another level. Much as I love Maiden, Purple, AC/DC, none can match UFO
I agree, I was there for Iron Maiden supporting Judas Priest, Ozzy leaving Sabbath and his Blizzard of Oz tour, I saw all the deep purple spin offs but UFO were and still are my favourite
Can't express how much I love UFO. How much they meant to me growing up, how many hard times they helped me through and especially this song. Tremendous version.
the most underrated band ever. UFO kicks ass!!!. Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, led zepp, deep purple and ufo. The greatest bands in the world. According to me.
This is a excellent song, they don't make them like they used to. Fuck music was better back in the 60s, 70s, 80s. A great era to grew up in. I'm glad I experienced it. Better then todays crap generation.
Holy Sh*%& T Phil Mogg's voice is dead on !! major underrated singer. I love how at 6:12 he shoulder shrugs like he is unsure of how he sounds... Well Phil you blew me away my friend :)
Yes ma ma mia he's blown me away till last time i saw UFO IT WAS THERE LAST SHOW IN ST.CHRALS ILL. A COUPLE YEARS AGO SO SAD AT THE END RIP TO ALL THIS AMAZING BAND MEMBERS WE LOST RIP PAUL PETE
Absolutely most underrated band ever. Why they weren't more popular is a mystery to me. Anytime you can add some classical instruments to a rock song speaks volumes as to the quality of the music (Scorpions live with the Berliner Philharmoniker comes to mind). Incredible version here.
I agree with you totally I'm 70 and my experience has been when the rock groups who did add orchestration to some of their songs, saved that move for the very best of their pieces of music?
Incredible legendary musicians...from UFO, I miss Pete Way, Paul Raymond and Paul Chapman...may they all RIP...music like this will never be made again...
I saw U.F.O. in a underground warehouse in the 80’s in Long Beach California!! They were amazing!! Was right next to the stage! I’ve never forgotten it!
Favorite song of all time! Tell me why they never have Michael Schenker on the list of top ten guitarists ever. UFO was right up there with any rock band and i would go anywhere in California to see them live and in the nineties went to see them at a small venue at the coach house that has about 500 seats and it was the highlight of my life being inches from the band as they played a 2 hour set of there classics on a Tuesday night. So good to have them in my era growing up in the seventies and thanks for the music UFO.
Schenker is on my top 10 for sure. I never for the life of me will understand how this band wasn't a bigger deal mainstream. I guess that just goes to show you...
In tears. Heartbroken about Pete Way's passing. A wonderful bass player and by all accounts a great guy. My heart and thoughts are with his family and friends.
Thank you... for wonderful memories past.. my oldest brother "molded me" musically.. walking 10 miles to work with him on Texas summer days .. carrying my portable 8 track... those days r gone now... he is gone now.. thank for the beautiful song, n the even better memories.... One of the most beautiful and amazing songs I’ve ever heard. Put this on with your airpods or headphones whatever and just listen to every second of in the dark by yourself and it will change you forever…I love UFO and lots and lots of rock snd metal and I have to listen to this one over and over again. Perfection…
RIP Mr. Paul Raymond. The beautiful tones you created for your music, were not only captivating, but truly living notes that provided me with life, in a time when I should have left this earth. Thankfully, God had other plans for me. My. Phil Mogg - Your voice doesn't sound a day over 25 yrs young. God bless you all, and thank you for this remade version of this classic rock song.
UFO has always been a class act. I saw them live in Seattle for the Lights Out Tour... AWESOME...Michael Schenker had not yet left them to go solo and he was incredible.
@@everettbyromiii47 same tour Baltimore UFO stole the show Schenker was the reason I went out the next day and bought every UFO album that Schenker had a hand in !! Cheap Trick opened the show !!
This is one of UFOs masterpieces. Paul Raymond was an amazing musician and true artist. God speed Paul. You have joined the gems of Rock and Roll Heaven.
As BIG as AC/DC? They were much, much bigger. (at least to those of us who know good music). I'm a drummer and lead vocalist, so I know a bit of which I am speaking. WAY too underrated.
One of the most beautiful Rock songs of this century. Phil Mogg still has the pipes too! Nice work by Vinnie, but I prefer the original fret work of Schenker on this tune.
Phil Mogg is like no other singer. His voice is so individual and unique. You could never mistake someone else for him - or the opposite. I've loved UFO since I snatched my sister's Force It album.
Indeed! Phil one of the best, if not the best vocalist of his generation!! I always felt UFO were underrated, and never once did I hear them aired on any of our so called Rock stations in my area. What a shame!! Sad day as we have learned of Paul's passing. Peace be with all of his family, friends and fans!!!
If not for Eddie Trunk I'd never discovered UFO, & am I so glad I did. Best band ever! Can't believe I missed out all these yrs. Fave songs are Boogie, Starstorm, Lights Out, Dr. Dr., Belladonna

Best part of this video is the opening, where Paul Raymond is looking at that keyboard and thinking 'damn, how does that E minor scale go again? Ooops not like that...' ;-) Paul Raymond was one of my musical idols after I saw UFO in '78. Any guy that could pull off the keyboards and the guitar and be cool looking and British - that is who I wanted to be...
i lost you and i want you to stay means so much to me one of my lost romances, favorite love song vinnie is such a good guitarist but Michael in my mind his leads suits this song by far

Your contention is correct.

They are one of those weird bands that attracted my attention because of the weird album covers like the portrait all covered in ball bearings
Back when a band could get you to buy an album because the great cover art.
Ooh the amount of ice cream I would buy from a UFO playing ice cream truck.
Paul Raymond was UFO's sound just as much as Schenker. His understated keyboards were amazing.
Strangers in the Night would have sounded very thin without Paul's fills and backup rhythm playing and keyboards...he truly was that inside glue you don't think about when you say, wow, that song was great. His duel leads with Schenker on SITN are magical.
Yep, but all nothing without Phil Mogg
Except on the early albums where they found great and there's no keys.

I saw UFO in Chicago October 2017. Raymond and Mogg had an unmatched synergy and the music left me speechless. Such a great band.
UFO, should be in the hall of fame
100% they should be
Eddie Trunk should have his own Real Rock Hall of Fame!!!
If I was stranded on a deserted island and had one song to listen to for the rest of my days this is the song!
The song has meant so much to me over the years it's hard to put it into words.. pure beautifully melodic rock from Masters at what they do..of the Greatest..
I agree !
This is quite possibly the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. The studio version is great, the Strangers in the Night live version even better, but this version takes it to another level. Much as I love Maiden, Purple, AC/DC, none can match UFO
UFO, BY FAR. 🎶
It is a beautiful song. People do not realize that these gentlemen are true artists, educated in their craft. This video is exceptional.
Absolutely no one can touch them
I agree, I was there for Iron Maiden supporting Judas Priest, Ozzy leaving Sabbath and his Blizzard of Oz tour, I saw all the deep purple spin offs but UFO were and still are my favourite
There was some great music around d when this came out, just lime now, but UFO were genuine musicians

Don’t forget Golden Earring
UFO belong in the RnR HOF like the rest of those Bands!!!
❤ my kind of music, and I love the leadsinger, this song is master❤❤❤
Phil Mogg is perfection! He's controlling but when you start the band, sing and write the songs you kinda earned it.
Paul Raymond, the Rick Wright of hardrock: minimalistic playing, delicate but oh so efficient accents, without turning a rock band into a cheesy act.
Such a powerful song. They did an amazing job. Jason felt his dad right next to him drumming along.
One of THE greatest songs of all time. Should be up there with all the rock classics that every one knows and loves.. A great performance of the song.
Everyone who is knocking this song only wishes they had written and played it. It is a classic so get over it. Awesome always.

There aren't many rock singers of Phil Mogg's age who could still do this....a much under-rated vocalist.

This has always been my favourite UFO song....for me they should have been as big as AC/DC
johnnyM809 I've always liked Rock Bottom. And although I think AC/DC was great, UFO was better.
johnnyM809 UFO has a much wider range in their music than AC/DC. And this song is so strong. Phil's voice is just perfect for this!
