I have loved UFO for about 45 years. I was always trying to promote them and struggled to understand why people didn't appreciate the quality and talent. They have had some of the best ballads ever but Try Me is still my favourite and one of, if not the, best from any band. So beautiful and haunting. I wish UFO played this song live more often . This is one of the best versions of Try Me, even without Schenker.
Because nobody has good taste in music. Especially the people you are surrounded with in real life. Thought I was the only guy who liked this band for Many many years. Good to know there’s like minded people. From first class rockers to gorgeous ballads I’ve never known either why this band never hit huge. Yes, Paul Raymond was a really decent guy. Passed away in 2019 (around there). Such a talented band that never received the recognition they ought to have. That’s the world, though... Recognizes the trendies and those unworthy. But UFO will be timeless and still heard when Madonna and Justin Bieber are forgotten.
I am stunned and saddened by the sudden loss of Paul Raymond. He was an amazing musician playing both keyboards and guitar in UFO and MSG. Such a classy guy. RIP 💔

Thank you so much for this. I listened to this in the 70s and still love it today. I am so glad to see symphonic metal being carried on by bands like Night Wish and one of my favorites Within Temptation today. This is music that generations can appreciate.

Vinnie really does fantastic job on this lead keeping it close to original but he always had a Schenker feel to his playing while in UFO. He was as good as Paul Chapman.

Paul Raymond told me in an interview that he had a hand writing this, but couldn't get credited at the time, for contractual reasons.... same with Love To Love. I do like this version a lot, although I think that I will always prefer the original. Vinnie Moore plays not exactly with Schenker's tone but he plays the same notes, in his veryu own way.... The orchestration is nice. To those criticising Vinnie Moore : At least, Vinnie plays OK every single night. He's a true professional, and a fantastic technician who's got some heart and soul too.... and he always said Michael Schenker was one of his top influences, already in 1987... He's certainly better replacemen t than anybody else apart from Schenker for UFO and much better than Schenker in his bad days..... and he's had some !!!
I got to see Schenker last year in Binghamton and he was awesome! I have yet to see UFO with Moore and I don't doubt your assessment, Moore is gifted and has his own style. I hope the guys do an East Coast swing in 2017...Phil, I hear still sounds good but he ain't gettin' any younger. Still a classic track.
