Cutting fabric for Applique on a Scan N Cut DX225

- We are cutting out the applique fabric piece needed to stitch out the ASIT Applique Shape 1 for 6x10 hoops embroidery design. The design is available at www.astitchintimedesigns.com and includes the embroidery design files and the SVG files.

I just got the 230DX and it also has a ‘grey’ blade?
Good morning! I tried to order the Madeira applique magic and amazon doesn’t carry? Where did you get it! Looks easier to use
I place heat and bond on my fabric and followed your instructions and the paper stuck to my mat ,I had to run it under water to get it off
I have not used heat and bond for applique so cannot help you there. Sorry. I am using a product called Madeira Applique Magic in the video
I don’t understand why brother doesn’t add a rotary cutting attachment to its machine like the circuit maker. All these work arounds for cutting fabric are so 4 or 5 years ago for Cricut users.
I made this video a couple of years ago. They do have a rotary cutter for the Scan N Cut now. Not everyone has it though so the video stays up

Can you just cut the applique magic into your applique shapes? I like to do turned applique with glue. So I hand cut the applique magic then iron it onto my fabric. But if you could use the machine to cut the applique magic before you put it on the fabric with the applique shapes, that would be wonderful. Then iron the applique magic to the fabric. I think you could then scan the fabric into the machine and ask the machine to do a direct cut with a seam allowance around the applique magic. Would that work? I have a SNC DX225
I have never done it that way but since the SNC will cut paper as well as fabric, you should be able to do it. Try and see how it comes out
When you go to your embroidery machine, is that placement stich outline already on your machine or did you transfer it from your SnC to your embroidery machine using a usb? That satin stich finish is beautiful. Your machine is a beast, and I mean that in a good way.
The placement stitch is the 1st step of the embroidery design itself so it is already on the embroidery machine. The line that we used to cut the fabric on the Scan N Cut is also included with the files that you receive when you purchase this design. It is an SVG file. @@AStitchinTimeEmbroideryDesigns thank you. I have a Brother embroidery machine and the same model of SnC that you have, only here in the UK it's called the sdx 1200. I haven't cut any fabric on the machine whatsoever yet, or any of the appliques, so i'm still a little confused as to how they marry up, but in this case, you have bought the file with everything included so it can be used between both machines, and that's good for me to know that I can do that. Thank you so much.
@@joanneadair9227 after I bought the Scan N Cut, I started adding the SVG files to the applique designs we digitized for sale on our website. They are listed in the description of each applique design at www.astitchintimedesigns.com so you can check to see if it is in there before you buy the design. The placement that stitches 1st on the machine is in all of our applique designs.
@@AStitchinTimeEmbroideryDesigns thank you. I will be round to buy at some point now I have all of this info. You've obviously taken a lot of the work out for your customers, so that they can just get on create your beautiful designs. That is the sort of thing i'm looking for. Fab. :-)
Rhonda, I thought I heard you say you like the DX225 better for cutting applique pieces than the 650. Is that correct? I gave my 650 to my daughter for paper crafting as I found the 650 very tedious for applique. My dealer was offering the DX225 with the purchase of the Luminaire. I declined it due to my issues with the 650 and selected something else. You make this look so simple, no hours of fabric prep then to have to manually trim each piece as they didn't cut nicely.
I like it because it is quicker and simple to use. No stopping to check the blade depth or pressure since it sets all that automatically. I used my 650 to cut fabric too and had no problems.
do you increase the size of the PES file before you cut? I was told to increase by 2mm but when I did that, I found that I still had to trim
I don't increase the size and it fits perfectly
What embroidery machine are you using?

Can you get the peel and stick stabilizer from amazon? Or another brand?
