Just as a quick FYI, much of the sourcing for this one was from the James Swallow novel: "The Buried Dagger", so if anyone wants to explore the full story, then I'd absolutely recommend that book to them.
Typhus genuinely is the leader of the death g's. Like kharn, the dessicated, stagnant, insane legiones would have spiraled into the ranks of the 2nd and 11th without them HARD carrying the long war. The demon-princesses can't get a fucking thing done, to the point that the entire dedicated and focused efforts of every single d-princess COMBINED don't hold up to any one of the 2nd in command for every legion. They're blind, idiot demigods with unimaginable power only eclipsed by their incompetence thicker than a neutron star.
Morty: I would rather suffer sickness than let my sons suffer and die. Typhus: Deal. Morty: what? No i meant if, what do you even mean? Typhus: i said: Deal. Morty: what deal? Typhus: … Morty: okay, whatever game you’re playing fine, my old friend i worry for you. I will have you talk to a therapist once the siege is over. Typhus: hahaha the deal is complete! *shuts down the gellar field* Morty: what the fuck?! Typhus: *happy smiles as everyone is rotting.* Morty: Okay, that therapist i was speaking about you seeing… yeah that therapist is going to be Konrad Curze now once we get back.
I think one battle that was very influential on the death gaurd's disgust with the imperium and betraying them was how poorly they were treated during the gruelling warfare with the Hrud exenos who made many space marines became decrepit and withered away

I hope warrior tier does one for mortarian like he did Angron. That was awesome, then I can put this right before the video in my playlist so it's like a narrated biopic. WH40K has the best lore.
Another great video! I like these stories more than the lore explanations. Both are great but i prefer these interesting stories. Although the war in heaven video was another great video. This is coming from someone with no knowledge of 40k lore so these videos are great
Ignatius Grulgor. The Life Eater. The Advice Giver. It's also interesting how he transformed his world within the Eye of Terror to be that of Barbarus where he essentially fulfills his own role as Overlord.
Yeah I really like that point, I mean he's tried his whole life to be free from the Overlords and their influence, but in the end he seems to mirror them far more than he would have liked.
I thought typhus tricked mortarian into fleeing into the warp when they were trying to escape the failed siege on terra and were hunted by the loyalists
I don't think so, because there was an interaction with Magnus and Mortarian during the siege where Mortarian was suffering badly from his new nurgleness and Magnus questions if it hurts. Mortarian just says he will endure, despite clearly being in agony. Magnus says that just becuase he is capable of enduring doesn't mean he has to do so and uses his warpcraft to take away the pain. Mortarian is just flabbergasted by this and doesn't know how to respond since literally no one has ever just done something that nice for him with no strings attached before and he can't really process how to feel about it; especially given it's Magnus, who he has treated so badly in the past. It was of course Magnus just being manipulative and using him to get to one of his broken shards in the palace but Mortarian didn't know that his act of 'selflessness' was Magnus moving a chess piece. Point being though that Mortarian was already suffering from his new form, still rejecting Nurgle's gifts, which means it happened prior to the siege he became like that.
In the Buried Dagger novel (which covers this whole event), the whole corruption is set before the siege of Terra, and ends with the newly fallen death guard emerging from the warp in the sol system to join with Horus.
Most kids would appreciate their dad offering a helping hand when you're falling unconscious about to die, but then again, Morty has always been a hypocrite.
Pretty sure having a deadbeat dad come into your life Only to take away your shot at glory in your lifelong goal would be considered a dick move by most ppl.
@@UGNAvalon Deadbeat dad? Erdy stole his sons and put them on those planets. How's saving your kid when he's about to die only because Morty refused his help to begin with? Don't think you read that lore.

@@beskararmor7966 Morty seems pretty justified about being pissed at Emps for strolling in at the last minute. Look at it from his perspective. He spent years campaigning against his adoptive father. Constant battles in the most grueling, arduous conditions. Contant attrition that makes other Space Marine's origin stories look lightweight in comparison to how much he went through. Enduring against impossible suffering is his whole thing. Years of work, finally makes it to the big bad, and in strolls his real dad who was never there for him during his lifetime of agonizing suffering, only to show up NOW after the fighting is 95% done to say 'let me go deal with this Son, your too much fo a pussy to finish him by yourself.' Of course he's pissed. In his moment of glory, the culmination of everything hes fought and suffered for, in walks this literal golden god and everyone is singing praises about how amazing he is rather than congradulating Mortarion on sealing his victory. This was HIS moment to shine. In the history books this would instead be remembered as the day the emperor graced their planet. Emps totally stole his thunder. So he went alone to prove he doesn't need Emps. He's always endured the impossible by himself, and he'll do it again because he's effing Mortarian. Except he finally couldn't, and on the brink of defeat he gets strongarmed into serving the Emperor's campaign. So his Dad who was never there to protect him shows up and steals the show, rubs it in his face that Mortarion is not strong enough to beat this guy but he is, kill steals the big bad after a decade plus campaigning, and gets forced into signing up for this crusade where his people are going to be put through a meatgrinder in a war he wanted no part in. No surprising he held a grudge.
