Dude did 3 different surfaces that we all use what a legend videos have been so helpful recently i wish i could show this dude what i painted the other day first try first time ever doing mountains or water
I always spray my canvass with a spray primer it actually helps save me paint in the long run because it doesn't need to soak up as much paint. Ty for this vid been looking at crackle paint for a while now.
Hi W Hunt, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the suggestion I really appreciate it :) I buy canvases that are already prepped, so I don't prep any of mine before painting them, Yes it still soaks a bit of the paint up but not that much where I need to prep it first, I would use more paint for the prepping process then I would lose to soaking in :) But I suppose it also depends on what brand you use to how much the canvas soaks up. Yes, crackle paint does add a really cool effect to a painting :)
Hi Mnl493, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) Yes that would work using a clear coat to prep the canvas but then I would leave it for 24 hours before painting on it. I don't prep any of my canvases when I paint them I just pull them out the wrapping and paint straight on them, hope this helps :)
Hi Ranradd, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words and this comment, and the feedback I really appreciate it :) Cool, let me know how you get on with it :)

Hi Davy, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words and this comment, and the feedback I really appreciate it :) Glad to hear that you enjoyed watching this one Davy, and yes the crackle paint is a really cool effect paint to use :)
Hi Grim, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment I really appreciate it :) Yes it's nice to watch the paint doing the crackling process, You can see it working on the gloss card i did first, If i had left the others to dry naturally then the video would be a very long one, but you have given me a idea tho thank you :)
This exact effect can also be used on metal. Just in case anyone came here for the same question I had. It happened on accident and pissed me off to no end, but then I though what if I mixed colors on one of my metal flowers? Can't wait to try it!
Hi Christian, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, I really appreciate it :) In this video i show the crackle being used on metal :)
hi jon I tried doing this with normal spray paint and I found out why it didn’t work, thanks for teaching me edit: an idea for a possibly future video: making a planet with spray paint but the cracks are the background and the planet is space *ples consider it took long to think about this*
Oh man, i tried following the instructions on the can, they say wait at least 45 minutes before applying the crackle. I did it and nothing happened. Now i see you doing it immediately after colour and damn, it works.
Hi Babis, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, i really appreciate it :) yes when i first tired using crackle paint years ago, i had the same problem, till i discovered it would work better over wet paint :)
Hi Mortishyn, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, question, and the feedback, I really appreciate it :) I'm not sure if it would work on top of normal acrylic paint, it might do, i have never tried it, Sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

@@JonBarberArt it doesn't really work I tried it but blow dryers and heat guns make the crackle come out I've been having a issue getting a consistent crackle on my guitar I'm thinking it has something to do with humidity at this point I'm trying again next week ran out of crackle.
Super cool videos! May i suggest you increase the sound on your videos or consider getting a mic? I had to turn my sound bar 100% up to hear yah on Pc. on phone, it's solid.
Hi Joey, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the suggestion I really appreciate it :) It sounded ok when i listened to it on my Pc, I was at 70% vol. I did get a mic and tried it while filming but there was way more white noise using that, then i get from using the built in mic, I'll look in to getting a better one at some point in the future and see if a more expensive one will work better :)
Hi Dean, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and questions, it’s really appreciated :) i think it's something in the formula that stops it, but i'll give your suggestion a go and see if that works :)

Would spraying the canvas with varnish/clear coat do the same trick? Like at the end of Jon painting it’s sprayed with clear coat? Cheers

Small question: Will this work on the lightsaber blades/polycarbonate type materials??
Does the base coat need to be from the same brand?

Spray painting with Ringo Starr!
to be fair, the company does not recommend BLACK series for this application, its a different kind of fast drying paint.
If u spray the crackle effect in horizontal lines it works better
