Hello, I have a Stratocaster guitar and am wondering besides the pedal, what pick-ups do you recommend for neo-soul playing?
Single Coils for sure. but i Think every type of pick up will do.

You should go with Lower output for r&b jazz, blues, classic rock. Higher for heavy rock, metal high gain etc but high and low pickups can do all styles, just depends on what you want to play, and your price range.

I think either an envelope filter or wah is sufficient - unless you are producing porn, also gotta really be careful not to have a heavy steel brick to carry around. I would add that compressor does wonders for funky stuff or the sustaining stuff. In fact, most good comp like Diamond/Empress/Origin can be on for many if not most situations.

Second that thought, though I know a few people that want the full dynamics of everything and anything to com through.
That and also a delay pedal. Delay is good for an overdrive solo or just used it clean for a riff or a lead line.

I'm playing a strat from squier that I got in a starter kit and I play into my focusrite.
