    Which tip do you think is the most important to impress when starting a new job? Comment below :)

  • @yugabro
    @yugabro 2 года назад +29

    Summary
    1 ) Dress to impress
    2 ) Develop Friendships.
    3 ) Ask For Feedback. The more feedback you get the better of you are. Act on their feedback
    4 ) Drop your personal problems at the door
    5 ) Avoid Gossip
    6 ) Be Punctual

    Loved this Adriana. It amazes me how many people fail on point 4. I understand it's hard, but working in a professional environment means being able to focus on why you're there and not your other issues.

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  6 лет назад +2

      Absolutely, Happy Facts Lifestyle! If you want a sure-fire recipe for disaster, bring up your personal problems when you first meet someone. It screams bad first impressions! Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers!

      Spot on Adriana, i don't even recommend laying out personal issues on first meeting someone socially, never mind professionally

    Enjoyed this Adriana. All of em. Expansion outside the dept is key, but the no gossip was gold. You need to be careful who you associate with and share your time with, but no matter what it’s important not to gossip!!

    Avoiding gossip is a real thing. I have seen people get caught in the trap of gossip their first week of work.

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  3 года назад

      I completely agree. It’s so easy to get caught up in that right at the get go but it’s really important to stay clear and focus on productivity and building positive relationships. It will only benefit oneself at the end of the day. Thanks so much for watching, cheers!

    Sometimes gossip is a great way to make connections, especially with people at work. So I don't necessarily agree with being so against at least listening to others gossip, but definitely don't go overboard or say anything mean spirited.
    I'm starting a new job soon and if others want to tell me some gossip then I look at that as a great opportunity to get to know the person and earn their trust.

      Nope, it's toxic and will come back to bite you. If they are willing to say it with you, they are willing to do it to you.

    • @PunkRockGuitarTabs
      @PunkRockGuitarTabs Год назад

      @@coffeepandacat What is your suggestion then? If you are starting a new job and someone wants to tell you some gossip, should you put your fingers in your ear and run away? My point is, I'll listen to coworkers gossip all day, but I'm not going to start gossip myself.
      I totally agree with your point in general though. If a coworker is gossiping a bunch about another coworker then I wouldn't trust that person because there's a good chance they will also gossip about you in the future.

    The “primacy bias” shows that we always heavily overweight our initial impressions, so first impressions at work are critical!

    I had an experience where my coworkers were gossiping all the time. It went on, and on, and on, about a "tech guy who is weird", a former "stupid employee", and another failure this, and my neighbor that... some people thrive on it, and if you don't follow them on this, you WILL be excluded.

      It's sad that people can be like this. I'm sorry that you have found yourself in this kind of situation. My hope is that not everyone is like this. Thanks for watching, cheers!
