1. Dress well and appropriately, groom well 2. Have a good posture 3. Pace yourself 4. Give a firm handshake 5. Know how to introduce yourself 6. Carry your business card with you 7. Give undivided attention 8. Master the small talk 9. Have good table manners 10. Maintain good impression throughout the event
It's amazing how the small talk makes all the difference, no matter how good the hand-shake, eye contact and smile are. I am a shy, not very talkative person and I come out a little awkward in conversations, then I end up being the "sweet, naive girl". The small talk is a torture for me, unfortunately. I bought some books to improve my skills there. I have seen some improvement, it's clear that people feel better around me when I engage in the small talk and feel relaxed to open up more and have mature conversations with me. Your videos have helped me a lot with posture and etiquette and being more confident in social settings and the work environment so thank you very much!!

Every person should watch this, Jamila! Extremely well done, and honest and true… I am somebody who, even at 60, has a lot of energy… Almost everybody loves it, but I do have to remember to slow down… I’m grateful that people can feel my energy, especially at my age!
I feel, that I becoming more elegant and better social person because of analysing your videos. I make notes in my diary to save the most important tips 👍👍👍👍
I feel very comfortable when I watch your videos because your face is really peaceful and I loved it that you are learning Arabic 😍 good luck for you ❤
Always an amazing quality and content I will refer to and apply to my routine. Thank you, Jamila. I know so much about etiquette and manners from your videos only. You are precious.
Thanks for your tips. This is the first time I watch your video. Your voice is softly and posture is professional. Now you make a good first impression on me ❤
I read in the book, Vanity Fair recently that the world is a looking-glass, or a mirror 🪞 in today's world. What you give out is what you get back. I know personally people treat me well. The way you carry yourself and the way you dress definitely gets you noticed and people remember you because you've made a good impression. But what's worth more than that is the way you treat people, good manners and consideration for others, smiling more. Where I live in Spain I will smile at a perfect stranger. And those people that I pass regularly then start to speak to me as I pass and that leads to a conversation. It really is all the things that are free in life that matter. You don't need to be a millionaire to get noticed. 🌼🌷🌸
Yes, that’s why when I smile to some men, they have the right to bother you. This is probably why when I was there some « friend », they wasn’t there for me. What a very good mirror.
Hi jamila! Thanks for uploading valuable contents on RUclips, I like your video about table manners and since then I started to see other of your videos. The reason for me to comment today is because I would like to request for a video about table manners/Dining etiquette for certain other cuisines. I have a doubt on how to eat some middle eastern meals, I have an issue with kebab breads (Turkish grill bread/pide) and how to dine them (I mean you usually don’t eat bread with knife and fork and also not sure is it the same way as eating bread roll with butter on a dinner). If you find it’s not enough for a video, You can teach how to eat rice, just imagine a scenario in dubai and there is biryani/pilau served in a buffet. There are people who struggle to eat rice with knife and fork (eating spoon is simple) with an etiquette. Chopstick is not really necessary unless needed. Thanks a lot in advance. If you uploaded a video, please reply me with a confirmation. If you can’t do it please let me know, I’m cool if there is an issue and infact you can suggest me somewhere else other than here.thanks in advance.
Hi Jamila! Thanks for always providing such great content. Could you create a video on etiquette for when a friend hosts another friend in their apartment, in a spare bedroom, for let's say 7 days? Should the guest clean their own bedroom before leaving? Should they participate in cleaning shared areas like the bathroom and living room? Should they pay 50% of the groceries if they eat together during meals? Etc. Many thanks!
A great video. And a good reminder for me to actively listen. Also, business cards are still used. They are something tangible to give someone. Other than putting it in your phone. It also shows that you are are professional and prepared to meet people.
Thank you for the advice. In my case, I have to do my first impressions in a language I’m not entirely fluent in so I sound really nervous and end up probably not giving off a good impression. 😂
It is normal and nothing to be ashamed of. Always good to notify the person that it is not your first language in case what you say might be lost in translation.
@10:45, are handshakes necessary in this post-covid world? I was a germaphobe before covid and have become all the more since. Thank-you for your work. Your channel has been a great resource to me for several years now 😀.
Very nice video. So much information that I didn't thougt about. Would love to meet you at a meet&greet event. Maybe there is some space to come to Vienna | Austria - otherwise Germany, Italy, Switzerland would also be an option!
But how do you define the line between pacing yourself and stretching the silence until it becomes awkwardness? I’m not great at thinking on my feet so when I go too slow I think I’m going too slow.
Hello, I am Aisha, I followed you from Algeria. I really love you. Could you please make a video for us that talks about how I take care of my hygiene in the summer with simple things? Thank you
Ma'am, I try to follow every step you explain but I face a big problem with sneezing since I have really bad dust allergy. I tend to sneeze pretty loudly. I've tried to lower the volume but in the process my nose just itches and leads to more sneezes and it becomes really messy. Is it a bad thing to snneze loudly in a social setting? There's nothing I'm able to do about it. I know it's more of a medical issue but I also think sneezing is considered a manner?
Oh, and the handshakes…I try to teach every woman and young woman I know how important a strong firm, just two pump handshake is… I think I do see more women getting better at this! It is almost the grossest thing when somebody gives you a ‘fish’ hand!
Hi I am a college student and will be graduating with a business degree in 2 years. I belong to a professional business fraternity and will be interning with a company this summer. Will you suggest that I have a name card to give to potential companies in the social events? Also, as I am thinking of my internship this summer, what would be an appropriate tag in the new work place. Thank you
Dear Jamila, having been a microbiologist over 40 years, I am a germaphobe. I believe handshakes should be banned as a social gesture. Retired to Thailand, the “ wai” is an accepted greeting and farewell. No touching of skin is involved. It is similar to a “ namaste” gesture. Again, a respectful greeting without skin touching skin. Many people have hand issues: arthritis, trigger finger, carpal tunnel etc. and a handshake can be somewhat painful. These reasons could explain a weak handshake. Thank you an excellent video.

For the outfit, the jacket looked great on the street photos, however in sitting pose it seem to have swallowed you, also maybe improve the lighting in the room to bring more light to your face, overall mood, liveliness into the video, just like ont street photos, which looked full of live, dynamism, sexiness! :-)

How do you feel about women not wearing nail polish in casual situations? If the nails are still groomed and clean, but not polished with color?
