So, you have a new job. Congratulations. Now, you want to make a great first impression. So, let's get you into the right mindset, so you look awesome.
Step number one; find out what people are wearing. It used to be traditional to wear a suit on your first day, but that is old-school thinking. You don't want to stand out like an oddball in a suit if everyone else is wearing jeans or business casual. Now, do you?
Now, you should already have got an idea of what people are wearing from when you went on job interviews at this company. Okay?
    Step number two...

@@zombkiin it didn’t go good 😔 the supervisor was horrible! She moved a favorite coworker to an easier workload department as she put it. The rest of us was tormented by her constant emails and we got 15 minute breaks cause she’ll find us at lunch and demand we go back and finish any work we didn’t get to. I left and found a better job through a friend of mine feel so much better mentally! Sorry for the long reply 😭 how’s it going for you?

    1. Know how to dress - do not overdress
    2. Ask Questions before you show up on your first day
    3. Be Polite and get out and introduce yourself to your co-worker (do it enthusiastically)
    4. Ask for help (but think through it before and try to solve on your own)
    5. Learn what everyone else does (i.e. Job role, Project they are working on, etc)
    6. Don't stress - give yourself time to learn things
    7. Ask more questions in meeting (be curious)
    8. Don't afraid to ask for a feedback
    9. Perform best of your ability (no slacking, get things done ahead of schedule)
    10. Don't suck up and don't be overly nice (maintain balance)
    11. Show up 10-15 minutes early to scheduled start and don't leave on time. (can be interpreted as you are a time watcher)
    12. Don't be a Diva (don't be a demanding person rather give time and space to do there job)
    13. Don't be a person who knows it all. Rather be open minded and learn why/how the process is.
    14. Don't misuse company resources (internet for social media, watching videos, using company phones for personal calls, etc)

I used to work somewhere that was extremely informal, people came in wearing jeans and caps most of the time, so I went with it. It was an office setting and I was in management so I figured why not, well one of the things that I was told after over a year, close to two years with them was that I needed to "look the part" --- NEVER AGAIN.

@@bellamichelle6248 Maybe because some women see other women as competition in the workplace, where they want to stand out above their colleagues. This can be particularly true in male dominated workplaces, where they might feel the need to work harder to have a chance of being noticed.

Eventually when I got 20 got a better job than the one before was making still only 7.75 an hr but things got better. I am now almost 28 and they're begging me to work for them. Hi Don, As someone with little interview experience and low confidence, I have been following your advice every step of the way during my job interviews. After a 5th and final interview, they said they'd let me know by end of the week if I got the job. Well, they got back to me that evening! As a recent Covid graduate, I struggled for 6 months to find a job and lost my opportunity to get an internship. While I landed a job at a company I'm extremely passionate about, it's not a role for a junior! I hope I can survive the first 3 months. Thanks for you help as I start my career.

I've always been a self taught musician. At 36 years old I decided to make a change in life and try to join the working force. Yeah that's right this is my first REAL job. Prior to this I've always be an independent contractor in music or construction related stuff. I have a lot of skill and abilities to offer but not much real job experience. I somehow landed a nice opportunity at a local manufacturing plant that's been around for a LONG time.. Lots of people from my area have always proclaimed how good of a company it is. I was Shocked I was able to get the job with no education backing or job history.. It literally took a global pandemic for a guy like me to be able to get a job. Now I am SO happy to be able to find content like this online free to the public. What a blessing! @@vikasraman214 it was great. The first 4 tips in the video are super practical to follow. Minggle to a new place is always difficult for me but i was lucky to met my interviewer and she was super nice to give me a tour to my departement and introduce me to everyone in my departement.
If you are starting new job and you met your interviewer, i think they will be very welcome to you and they are among the first few people that i suggest you to interact with.
