  • This is a complete episode of The Bobby Darin Amusement Company, also featuring Donald O'Connor and Dionne Warwick. The first 25 minutes are in poor quality black and white (the sound improves after the first song), and then the screen goes black for around half a minute, before the second half of the show is in colour and much better quality. This finds Bobby in very different form than in The Bobby Darin Show, made just six months later, and issued in edited form on DVD. In this current video, he seems much more full of energy, singing better, and the show is blessed with a much better script than the later series, and is altogether more satisfying.

    It was wonderful to watch this show of Bobby Darin's again, haven't watched this one in a couple of years...
    Bobby was this really brilliant entertaining package rolled into one and always endeared him to his fans across the world...
    I never missed watching Bobby's show and always appreciated everything he sang, performing comedy, acted in, man's a genius...
    Sadly Bobby passed far too soon and we his fans felt we lost a family member... Bobby Darin is the only entertainer who was able
    to touch me deeply within my own heart and soul making me cry, his songs still do all these years later, bless you Bobby...
    REST IN ETERNAL PEACE BOBBY DARIN..... YOU TOUCHED THE INNER DEPTHS OF MANY OF US,, MISSED, REMEMBERED, LOVED STILL.

    It was a great loss for the world when Bobby passed away. My mothers only brother who also had a beautiful voice died of a heart attack at 25 yrs of age from damaged heart valves from Rheumatic Fever that he suffered as a child. This is what caused Bobbys trouble. There was no operation as yet for my Uncle Marvin. But by the time they had one, Bobby tried the valve surgery and it was to late. This is what i was told. Its amazing that he could sing so well, act, do comedy, play musical instruments & write songs. He did it with such ease, i guess he was just a complete natural. Too bad there were so many problems with his marriage to Sandra Dee. She was so pretty. RIP, Bobby Darin. 🙏⚘⚘⚘⚘

      It's pretty sad that we don't have entertainers like him anymore. he was so underrated and I believe he deserves more credit than anybody else he was extremely talented. From now on, he's forgotten.

    I remember Darin’s ending credits like I watched them yesterday. I was only three years old when this show originally aired, but I remember that my dad was a Bobby Darin fan. (He also had a crush on Sandra Dee and Connie Francis). Ultra-talented, versatile performers like Darin don’t exist anymore - and, had he lived, there would have been a lot more from him.

    Bobby´s Bert Lahr impersonation was priceless. Donald O`connor: He IS a great hugger and I'm getting involved .... wacky and hilarious. Thank you. I haven't laughed for a long, long time.

    I was home from college the summer this series aired and loved it very much. One skit that is stuck in my head involves a spoof on Hamlet or Macbeth. I remember very clearly the lyrics from one of the songs from that skit. I'm hoping that sometime, somehow that episode turns up somewhere. It had me laughing so hard!

    You wouldn't happen to have a copy of the show with Joanie Sommers as one of the guests? She and Bobby sang "Darling Be Home Soon" together as a duet. Can't find it anywhere... hoping against hope you folks might be able to get your hands on it. I'm part of the Joanie Sommers Fan Club and would LOVE to be able to show it to the group.

      That;s interesting information about Darling Be Home Soon, so thank you for that. Relatively little is known about that episode. The episode here is the only one circulating from Amusement Company amongst Darin fans. However, interestingly, the audio of Brother Can You Spare a Dime from the Joanie Sommers episode is out there and on youtube (possibly uploaded by me!). So, someone somewhere has a copy, albeit in bad quality. Sorry I can't help further, though.

      Thanks for the lightening fast reply! I have a copy of a photo of Joanie and Bobby singing the duet (I think it's from Jimmy Scalia's website) and there is a copy of Joanie singing "Imagine" from the show on RUclips as well. I figured out it's likely the same show as her hair looks the same in the photo as the video clip. If you go to Google and type in Bobby Darin Joanie Sommers photos it comes up as the second one.

      Thank you. All of the Amusement Company shows are thought to exist, and a couple of songs from them were included in a BD DVD called Seeing is Believing. BD fans hoped that the DVD release of the 1973 Bobby Darin Show series would lead to a release of the Amusement Company series from the year before. However, this hasn't happened. That may be because of poor sales - the DVD release of the 1973 series is an utter mess, with great chunks edited out due to royalties for songs and performers, and I'm not sure if that might have been reflected in sales. On the plus side, there has been a slow but steady stream of BD CD releases over the last year or so, and hopefully this might indicate that the Estate is started being more productive, and that more might follow - and that might include Amusement Company. for both of us, I keep fingers crossed.

    Finally! I found the end credits that listed one “Schnickelgruber” as a writer. Can anyone inform me who in fact that was and why they would use a name associated with Hitler?

    • @shaneleebrown
      @shaneleebrown 5 лет назад +1

      The link with Hitler does not have the "n" after the sch. And there is no "e" after the ck. It is Schicklgruber, not Schnickelgruber.

    • @fgrady1
      @fgrady1 5 лет назад +1

      shaneleebrown I spelled the name exactly as it was spelled in the end credits. The question was who in the cast used that name, assuming that was NOT their given name or one used professionally.

    • @thevault3853
      @thevault3853  5 лет назад +2

      @@fgrady1 Yes, you did. My point was that the name associated with Hitler was NOT spelled in the same way as in the end credits. The end credits are Schnickelgruber and the Hitler-related name is Schicklgruber. There is a distinct difference. It seems pretty obvious that someone just happens to have a similar name, in this case "Cathy Cahill Schnickelgruber." And she's not listed as a writer anyway (as you state) but a cast member. Apart from those two significant errors, you're doing well. Although why you had been looking for this, one can only wonder.
