- Hello Everyone!
I was so honored to create this beautiful quilt! My client retired from nursing after 48 years! She has these bright scrub uniforms from her lifelong career and wanted them put into a quilt for her bed. She chose the traditional LeMoyne Star quilt (aka Lemon Star).
For this extra large Queen size I cut: 144 - 5" background squares (white from Moda), 144 - 4 1/2" background squares (white) for the star legs, and 288 - 5" squares from her print and solid clothing. I also cut about 10 - 2 1/2" strips from the white fabric for the border. Plus, each piece of clothing was used in the scrappy binding.
This happy quilt finished at approximately 100" x 100". 😁

@@OxygenFarmQuilts can you give directions for making just 1 block?
In the tutorial around the six minute mark you will find how I made the individual star legs and around the 18 minute mark, you will see how I completed just one star block. I hope this helps! Happy sewing.😊

Beautiful quilt. This nurse must have worked in pediatrics.
Thank you! 😁 Her scrubs were definitely bright and happy 😊 ❤️🌸🩷
Sweet! thx
You bet! Thanks for watching! 😊
Cute quilt! What sewing machine are you using? I will usually put my blocks up, then I stand back and look at it. Then I will move blocks again. 😆 Then it stays on my design wall for 1 or 2 days, in which I will continue to move blocks. I love your quilting. I never knew Babylock made longarm machines.
Hello! I totally understand about making sure the layout is just right. 😁 I have a Baby Lock Aria sewing machine. I appreciate your kind words! Thank you!! 😊 🫶🏼🌺
I gave all my scrubs away! But in shared this with a friend that is a nurse nearing retirement! 😊
I am about to dismantle our son’s camo (Army, Middle East) to make a quilt. I’ve no idea which way I’m headed, design wise.
Oh no! I appreciate you sharing the video with your friend. Thank you for your service in the medical field and for your son’s military service. Good luck in your search for a pattern design for his quilt ❤️
A homemade Bloc Loc Ruler
It works great! Thanks!😊
What fabric is your curtain made from?
I used fleece! I had a bunch of it for some reason Lol 😂 So, a curtain was made! 😁
Cutting a length of cardboard or used greeting card to size and then taping it down is an effective hack too for marking the line for cutting a half square triangle. It reduces the layers of tape just to get it to the right height to form the ledge.
Thank you for the tip! 😁
