  • This is a comparison of the video in low light comparing the iphone to the Sony A7S3. I think the iphone 12 pro max has about the best video I've seen on a smartphone to date.
    Both videos were shot in 4k 60p. No color correction except in the commentary scenes which were shot in on the a7R3 and a7S3 and at the end of the video.
    Gear used in video
    iPhone 12 Pro Max amzn.to/3quWL5f
    Sony a7SIII amzn.to/37LYDxK
    Lens I use on Sony a7SIII amzn.to/2YA4vZY

    How’s the night mode on the iphone compared to the A7siii for stills in really dark conditions? I’m seeing my IPhone 12 Pro Max outperforming my D750 handheld in really dark situations. It’s a limited win but still very impressive for a smartphone to be surpassing a full frame under certain lighting conditions. This is for example ISO 6400 on the D750 at 1/20th second or 1/30th with a 20mm 1.8 while the night mode will composite a 1 second shot and it’s doing better than the full frame. Pretty impressive that the video is doing that well vs the A7siii as thats about the pinnacle of low light video cameras.

    Impressive review! Many thanks for the honesty - yes the Sony & lens awesome combo for dedicated filmmaking etc. however the iPhone 12 is an powerful multimedia device, shoot edit upload - write a script, order an Uber All that plus more for less than half the price of the Sony rig when you add in the cost of post production ie, editing on computer and license fees for editing software, plus cards, bag, batteries, lens filters, -easy 10k investment.
    But the iPhone fits in your pocket!!!
    Thx again for the comparison - you convinced me to buy an iPhone 13 Pro- thx 🙏

    • @Somecooltech1
      @Somecooltech1  3 года назад +2

      I used to own the GH5. When the GH5 got it right it nailed the picture and it looks so good but the problem is sometimes it was horrible too. Shooting vlogs was impossible with the gh5 because auto focus was terrible. I finally gave up on Panasonic and went all sony. The a7s3 just nails it way more often. Focus is amazing. Colors are good and detail is excellent. Slow motion options are top of the line. The only downside on a7s3 is the pictures are only 12MP. I have the A7R3 too so if I want to do photography I can use that. Bottom line they are both good but the Sony is the ultimate video camera in my opinion but you pay about twice as much for it too.

    At least the Sony is far superiour to my OP8pro which is very good in low light for a smartphone. Ant the Oneplus easily beats the 11pro in this discipline to make a cross comparison. The only thing I don't like about the iPhone is the lens flares. I would def prefer the iPhone because of the stabilization. After using a GoPro, it's hard to go back to shaky footage.

    Yet another comparison video............ Look......You are comparing what is called a camera to what is called a phone(with a built in camera). I am trying to not be offensive but seriously, you and the hundreds of youtubers comparing completely different products like this is no different to comparing a banana to a spoon for use in a kitchen as a device to stir things with. You obviously keep commending the sony's image quality and low noise...its like you must need the reassurance that your sony is ok or you have buyers remorse on a getting the iphone and need to somehow try to feel better. Mate, its phone with a built in camera. The countless people trying to convince themselves that some bullshit phone is to the same quality and performance as a fully fledged camera is pure stupidity..............You got a thumbs down from me. Stop wasting time and do something more meaningful.
