I must say, thanks for this! I was considering getting a 12 Pro Max for the upgraded camera, even though I hate the size of it, but now I've decided I'll just stick with the regular 12 Pro.
I tried both for a bit. You get used to the size, but you don’t get used to the weight. The differences between the cameras are negligible in most situations. In some limited cases, the Max is better but also sometimes the Pro is better. Especially when your phone is close to the thing you’re taking a picture of (which happens a lot).
Trust me, there is nothing “regular” about the iPhone 12 Pro 😂 the standard 12 and 12 pro are so good that you don’t even need the gigantic 12 pro max.
Lyndon Coleman correction it’s only an extra 130$ if consider it has 128gb base storage instead of 64gb if you live in the US. 130$ more for a telephoto lens, 50% more ram and a 200nits brighter display is 100% worth the extra 130$ it over the regular iPhone 12.

Upgraded to the 12 pro max from the 8 and I’ve got to say it’s amazing. As a person who usually killed my 8’s battery by the night when on low power mode all day. But with the same distance, the blur strength would be the same. Prove it with mirrorless camera, take 50mm lens, put it in APS-C sensor then compare it with Full Frame sensor.
But they're both 26mm equivalent. Thus all factors being equal, same equivalent length, same fstop (1.6), same distance (focal distance) then the larger sensor should have a shallower depth of field. I noticed a clear difference between my old Samsung with a 1/3" sensor (a8) compared to my new 1/1.7" (a71) with the sensor being almost double in size.

Love the comparison of the 12 Pro vs. 12 Pro Max! Did you take any night mode/star photos comparing the pro models while on a tripod for a full 30 second exposure? As someone who lives in the NW and loves camping, I would love to know how those 2 compare as I am trying to balance the small form factor, but the best low light photos possible.
What I am taking from the options of iPhone 12s, the pro series is overall winner, get the max if you prefer the larger form factor..... that's it! Pro max works better for me not for the features but because of the size.
The real question is whether one is ready to carry around such a huge phone as the 12 pro Max. Went for the 12pro. If the 12pro Max also had a larger tele sensor and a larger ultra wide sensor, I wouldn't have resisted. Like that I am glad I went for the smaller pro: the computational photography and the excellent ProRaw format are just the same in both.
Many thanks for producing this video!! I'm looking at an upgrade and needed some real world differences between the 12 Pro and 12 Pro max. I'm going for the 12 Pro !!
I think the 12 Pro is good, but if you want slightly stronger zoom and larger screen then the 12 Pro Max is the one to get. I have the 12 Pro Max and love it - my favourite iPhone ever!
I'm finally about to upgrade my phone and had a dilemma, want to have better camera, but my hands are too small and pro max was kinda big for me, and after this video, I see that I don't have to compromise and get uncomfortable phone in order to get better camera. Thank you!
The larger screen and the MF’in battery life is well worth the 12 Pro Max. I’m lasting on average a day and a half. I finally made the jump from the iPhone X and I will say it’s worth every penny. The cameras are a nice bonus feature. Maybe the 12 Pro Max will get a software upgrade to fix the “issues” with the Max.
When your battey lasts an hour and a half less, and you feel a little cramped while watching movies or playing games, you might realise a 'real world' difference, as well as a few subtle camera differences
People really say the 129 dollar upgrade isnt worth it, but the 100 for the super chonk is, the 12 pro is a great option, the 12 pro max is just a tiny bit better, while the 12 pro is miles ahead of the twelve, especially in night shots, the upgrade from 12 to twelve pro is worth it.
Well i have used both 12 and 12 pro. But the noises on the 12 bothered me a lot. Jumping from iphone X to 12 didnt make a difference because of the camera noise. So if wanna use for a long time, go for pro because if ever a new iphone pro comes out, those who got 12 might want to switch to pro anyway..
This has been one of the hardest buying decisions for me. I’ve owned all the pluses and Max models since the 6. But... the new squared off design might be too much for the bigger pro max. The new 6.1 display is very close to the old 6.5, buuuut the battery in the pro is smaller than even in my old Xs Max. I do use my phone a lot. In my Jeep, while in the kitchen, at work. I just don’t know. Very torn.

I've just wathced LTT's video on M1 Macs and came here to say thank you for doing reviews and all kind of different benchmarks and scenarios all in really quick and explanatory way. Really thank you
Thank you!!
To me the worse is the Pro. I have a regular 12 and it can take fabulous shots!
dude called a lama an ostrich XD
Nobody cares bro
Pro Max video image stabilization is waaaay better than Pro, you can’t even pretend they’re on the same level...
True...
Love the pro max I think most of the issues with the camera can be fixed thru software
Thank you from Turkey!
@@batu_cagan :(
What I am taking from the options of iPhone 12s, the pro series is overall winner, get the max if you prefer the larger form factor..... that's it!
Pro max works better for me not for the features but because of the size.
So is the 12 Pro Max a update away from being balanced in the areas 12 Pro is better or is that even a thing? Loving my 12 Pro Max BTW.
No low light video test??
The real question is whether one is ready to carry around such a huge phone as the 12 pro Max. Went for the 12pro. If the 12pro Max also had a larger tele sensor and a larger ultra wide sensor, I wouldn't have resisted. Like that I am glad I went for the smaller pro: the computational photography and the excellent ProRaw format are just the same in both.
I'm guessing your photos were hand held and were not utilizing screen focus/white balance. That could easily create differences between all images.
great comparison, thank you!
Anything above the 12 is a waste of money. If you’re really into photography you won’t rely on a smartphone, anyway…
I bought the Max for the better video stabilization as I film in car frequently. Is there something that can eliminate sun flare for iPhone?
I think a software patch will fix this by the 2nd quarter in 2021
Always a fan, keep pouring new content also pls do a gaming comparison
The regular 12 wasn’t really bad considering the capability different type of lenses..
Larger screen, bigger battery and the stabilizer sensor is what sold me on the max
Many thanks for producing this video!! I'm looking at an upgrade and needed some real world differences between the 12 Pro and 12 Pro max. I'm going for the 12 Pro !!
12 pro has the best camera...less weaknesses.
I think the 12 Pro is good, but if you want slightly stronger zoom and larger screen then the 12 Pro Max is the one to get.
I have the 12 Pro Max and love it - my favourite iPhone ever!
Love From Bangladesh 🇧🇩
How much do iPhones cost in Bangladesh? I’ve heard that the 12 Pro is 115,000 taka?
How many times have you said 12 Pro in this video when you meant iPhone 12? Very confusing.
If you had to choose between the pro and the pro max which would you choose?
I'm finally about to upgrade my phone and had a dilemma, want to have better camera, but my hands are too small and pro max was kinda big for me, and after this video, I see that I don't have to compromise and get uncomfortable phone in order to get better camera. Thank you!
That was my goal. Your welcome!
The larger screen and the MF’in battery life is well worth the 12 Pro Max. I’m lasting on average a day and a half. I finally made the jump from the iPhone X and I will say it’s worth every penny. The cameras are a nice bonus feature. Maybe the 12 Pro Max will get a software upgrade to fix the “issues” with the Max.
thank god i bought 12 pro not 12 pro max. having a brick in your pocket is not very comfortable. the difference in real world is not that huge.
When your battey lasts an hour and a half less, and you feel a little cramped while watching movies or playing games, you might realise a 'real world' difference, as well as a few subtle camera differences
2:20 an emu is a bird!!!! LOL 😂
Watching this video with the 12 pro max on my hands! Wanna see who wins lol.
And did you enjoy the results? 😄
It’s not just the bigger sensor. It’s a better lasting longer screen, bigger screen
the iphone 12 pro can actually do portrait and night mode, i don't know what went wrong in your case?
I can tell you were a bit biased for the 12 pro. overall, the 12 pro max is the better phone, but not by a wide margin.
Nice video bro☃️❤️
Honestly coming from a 10s Max I can’t go to a smaller screen. I have been getting the bigger screens since the iPhone 6.
Bruh he just said "llama or emu or whatever"
That Ram Car is following him 🤣
This has been one of the hardest buying decisions for me. Very torn.
I think you should get the max if you care a lot about the battery, the size is not that much bigger than the previous pluses and max. 😊
The flat design on the 12 Pro Max makes it 0.7 mm thinner than the rounded design on the 11 Pro Max, what're you talking about?
How is this possible ? If the cameras on 12 pro and 12 pro max are the same ?
i legit thought 12 pro max and 12 pro was just different size.....
