just want to add from my experience & help of Dr google the 4k format doesn’t make any difference and more likely will harm your video if it’s not meant to be watched on a larger monitor, tv or such. Posting 4K video to tiktok or IG can harm your quality since the format isn’t compatible with phone apps. However it should be used if you mean to post it to RUclips or be watched on a larger monitor

Another great video. Thanks for all the research you do and all the details you report. Very thorough. I also LOVE how you have the video scroll bar broken up into segments that are labelled by topic. I need to learn how to do that. So ... quick question: Video settings on the iPhone (HDR, resolution, etc) do these settings carry through to streaming on, say, Facebook Live or other streaming targets? Obviously some of them won't by I'm curious which ones if any at all.
I mostly shoot sailing videos and for me capturing the action / content is much higher priority than the video composition and quality. But often in sailing videos, the beauty and ambience of the world around is compelling (varying shades of blue in sky, contrast of clouds, water, hills, ... even capturing the sun in a reasonable manner might enhance my videos) so I want to learn more about this stuff. Maybe you can make a video on a problem with inability to play iPhone 12 high efficiency format videos on PC. I found the only solution: to shoot in most compatible mode, but you can not use 4K/60 fps in most compatible, perhaps you can suggest something else.

Hi there, I had a quick question about filming on the iPhone and audio lag when editing. When I upload my videos to my computer and try to sync the audio I’ve recorded with my mic, the audio drifts. Is there a setting I should be using on the iPhone to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you for the hard work you put into this wonderful video!

Love this! I shoot in 24fps / 4k and I love the results. The only downside...I'm now paying dearly for storage space and I haven't found any decent solution to compress/downsize the footage AND keep the metadata in tact. Quicktime does some of this but the date still changes ruining the timeline and albums. Still...it's worth it especially for the footage I get to retain.
I got my pro max set to hdr/4K I record a lot of bass playing videos and band practice and some of my videos are not wanting to load for me to watch them does that have to do with the HDR setting or data? I don’t recall having this issue before I changed my video settings

Hi. I loved this video. I am wanting to record outside some simple short videos to accompany my FAQs on my work website. And I wonder what setting I should have the camera in. HDR seems correct. But will anyone be able to see this on any device? Most of my clients will be watching on smart phones and older laptops.

Yes, of course!
Can you point to any other tests / info regarding about the 4k 60 being compressed?
No, results of my personal tests - but all the footage is compressed, and that's normal - I just noticed a lot more compression artifacts when shooting with 60fps - it even gets much worse if you don't transfer the files to your computer correctly - watch my tips & tricks video.

What about shooting in bright sunlight? I am living in Sunny Brazil and the sun is extremely strong here. Unless I use an ND filter, I cannot shoot anything with my Sony a6400. Are there ND filters for iPhone 12 pro max?
Yes, there are. For example by Polar Pro.

You mean ProRes vor video? For longer recordings I would rather advise against it - the file sizes are huge and the quality difference is small.
@@MountMediaChannel I’m not sure when I go to formers I have an option to turn on Apple ProRAW so im not sure if that’s the same thing
@@caradonahue7965 ProRAW ist just for photos - ProRes for video - but ProRes was only introduced on the iPhone 13Pro
