1) iPhone 14 Pro Max main camera is an f1.8 - not a f1.6
2) The 2 x zoom is NOT a reduction of the Telephoto Lens, it is a simple crop into the main camera sensor

Yes, especially the Telephoto abilities of the iPhone 14 Pro Max are better. But the difference in overall image quality of the iPhone 14 Pro Max over the iPhone 12 Pro Max to me is not significant enough to justify this upgrade.
If I wouldn't have changed carriers that required an e-SIM instead of a physical SIM, I would have kept my beautiful blue iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I upgraded recently to 13 pro max, but again came back to 12 pro max, as it's quality is really good. I know there's a little difference is battery and camera, but that doesn't mean that 12 pro max's result is much behind. It's a perfectly usable phone still now, and will be perfect until we see a clearer and better result from upcoming models.
You're so right. The manufacturers could do so much better, but they are purposely holding back to sell every year a tiny upgrade rather than one huge improvement

iPhone 12 Pro Max is a beast! iPhone 12 Pro Max is cool as well, both similar but if you look at some pics or videos the 12 looks sharper.
Like I wrote in the description: If I would not have changed carriers I would have kept my 12. If it was only for the camera, there was no need to switch.

If you could choose the camera of regular iPhone 14 or iPhone 12 Pro Max which would you choose?
Right now they are going off at about the same price.
If you can live with the lack of a telephoto lens - the camera of the iPhone 14 has a slight advantage over the iPhone 12 Pro Max and is superior. Plus it is the newer phone with the latest upgrades.

There is a difference but to me it's not much. I wonder if the 12 pro would be the same quality wise as a 14/14 plus minus their zoom

@@matthewholliman1399 No, the display is significantly better. I noticed with my weakening eye sight that I could see details on the 14 that I needed glasses for on the 12.

@@matthewholliman1399 18 months ago I wanted to make a video comparison of the current iPhone against an older Samsung phone. SO I bought a renewed Note 10 Plus on Amazon and I was really pleasantly surprised. The phone was like new. It truly does. I was still surprised how well the 12 was able to hold up, given 2 gens tech development.
Man I know I'm late to the party but, I've been happily using a 12 Pro Max for a little over a year now after buying the 13 Pro Max when it came out..the camera on the 12 seemed better to me and now that you're putting the 14 and the 12 side-by-side, the 12 still looks much better to me especially the front camera! I think apple is getting a little nutty with their software as far as the camera goes. I choose to use my phone for social media filming because it's just much easier and less of a pain in the butt to use over my DSLR or my osmo action..one of the things that really makes me angry about Apple phones is the 2 very obvious dots I guess you were calling it lens flare but it's very annoying.. It seems like the bigger and fatter they make the camera lens the worse it gets. Apple should definitely quit over processing our pictures, they are starting to look like Snapchat filters are built into them.😂 id like for just raw unfiltered untouched pics and video as my final result without having to go into post editing and sit there for hours removing dots. I purchased a 14 Pro Max brand new on eBay a couple days ago and it looks like I'll be sending it back and just going for a battery replacement on my 12.. thank you so much for this review! Not too little not too much like a lot of other videos i've seen, instead this one is just perfect! keep up the good work!
Hello Blake, I loved my iPhone 12 Pro Max. And honestly, if I would not have switched providers (from ATT to Verizon) I would have kept it. I will make a new comparison in September, 14 vs 16. Man discretely spits facts. Through irony, he mocks such a small generational improvement, which basically means you shouldn't switch your phone for around 5 years or so. Difference is just too small to even consider switching phones, period.

As someone who notices details, the iphone 14 pro max colors were simply better, closest to reality... skip 13 pro max as it does artificial color correction and a lot of the time skies have more violet in it than what's natural. Although I have the 12 Pro Max, I can clearly see the improvement in 14 Pro Max.

Coming from Iphone 11, my ip14 pm does everything better. Better camer better videos. The screen is amazing in direct sunlight and the clarity sharpness as if the images popped out. will wait for another three cycles to upgrade. probably 17 or 18
This is smart. After 3 cycles it makes sense and you will clearly see improvements. If there's only 1 gen or 2 gen in between, the improvements are so minimal that they don't justify a new purchase.
I will keep using my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Uploading the videos to RUclips always get a downgrade, if you see on the actual phones side by side it’s more noticeable the quality, plus the battery of the 12 pro it’s crap, and on the 14 pro we now have 120hertz always on display, better sound, dynamic island, so I think it’s a good upgrade for anyone who can afford! Let’s be honest iPhone 12 Pro this year is going to make 3 years, the battery on 100% it’s already bad imagine 3 years using. Mine is already at 83%, yes you can wait for the 15pro but in my opinion it’s going to be almost the same as the 14 pro like 12 pro to 13 pro wasn’t a lot change, and from the 13 pro to the 14 pro they only improve the cinematic mode to 4K and added the dynamic island and always on display. My final opinion if you have 12 pro or below you should upgrade, if you have a 13 pro you should wait for the 15pro . At this point apple knows that not everyone upgrades every year, so the better phone it’s always in 2 years, exemple if you had 11 pro you should upgrade at least to the 13 pro the 12 pro isn’t that big a difference besides the design and the battery it’s worse, if you have a 12 pro upgrade to the 14 pro, why upgrade to the 14 pro and not 15 pro ? Because it’s going to drop the price and the 15 pro it’s going to be the same as the 14 pro but with minor changes. If you can afford every year upgrade, it’s always fun unboxing a new phone, change the color and you always have the latest and the greatest.
So don’t be deceive by this type of videos.
But a lot of creators are shooting their youtube videos with their phones, that's why it is good to see what the videos look like when you don't see them on your own display.

I honestly would have kept my 12 Pro Max if it wasn't for changing the carrier. We switched from AT&T (physical SIM) to Verizon with an e-sim card

@@ParadiseBizz I beg to differ with those who said previous iphones were better. I've had 6 and 7plus, trust me, the color profile was rubbish, so I always stuck to samsung. But then years later when I tried the 12pro max, I was like WOW, The true camera is here.
@@theresilientsurvivor1892 I had SAMSUNG phones for many years. They had the tendency to oversaturate. Overall in every new model, Android and Apple, there is an improvement. A mix of hardware and software. But all of these companies are holding back. The improvements could be way more significant - if they wanted
