The problem with a you tube review is I can make a$200 lens look like. $20 lens in post. I can go on ruin color grading. Create needless blurs. The point is how would you know. You wouldn't . I am not saying this guy does that. But well.. a true challenge would be to post an unedited video. Side by side. No cuts. No edits. And same camera settings. But that won't happen.
It looks like they’re both solid choices, but as the Beastgrip is larger it’s certain to allow more light to come in. That was the main difference in the images. I wonder if a solid color correction could make up the difference?
Exactly, the bigger the lens the better the low light performance is. Of course there are caveats to that, but in general at a basic level that's the case. It's also why I'm interested in their new DoF adapter, squeezing a full frame lens worth of light onto a phone sensor is interesting.
I have both these lenses, you can actually mount the smallest apexel lens first, and then on top of it, you can screw the beastgrip lens and get 2.0x1.7x = 3.4x in total (aprox 90 mm equivalent).
That cheap $25 Apexel lens also has a 37mm front filter thread to mount Variable ND filters. I got one for mine for just for $9, hard to find but some Japanese brands make 37mm lens filters.
Got my Beastcage for my iPhone 14 pro. Tolerance on the beastcage is waaaay too tight…won’t even fit with a Dbrand vinyl skin. Was a deal breaker for me.
Unfair comparison. Using the clip will always make a cheap lens work worse. Having it actually screwed into a proper mount makes it look damn near as good as the $200 one.
I use sandmarc case with sandmarc lenses and i tried attaching a cheap lens. I had from ebay. Although the thread seam to be similar the cheap lens wouldn’t screw on correctly onto sandmarc case
Thanks for the tips and taking time to share .We all love a bargain. But in photography we also love an image that works. Price does play a role in the final images in that respect.mostly . I use the Nikon z8 simply because it is for me the best camera for my needs. Personally I feel more comfortable with my processing because of the quality associated with that camera. I know it can perform. However that said , when starting out there is so much to learn, and I would say we grow as we learn. But here is the point if you can’t take a well composed creative image then no amount of expensive equipment will make the finished photo great. I notice the images that each individual blogger displays, That is what speaks. The information you put out is based on experience not just ….experience +price can really be put on that. I am moving from still to motion photography or should I say trying something different. The thing I can’t impress on people enough is the value trying something out for oneself. There are places where you can hire most things, in the long run it a valuable tool. My self I have experience of the arts for nearly 70 years and I still have much to learn. There is a song with the lyrics if you can’t be with the one you love …. love the one you’re with! Really make what you have work and it will develop your creativity as a picture maker something you can do is just looking at photos. After a while you will naturally get a feel for what you like. Then using a camera will get you a costumed to angles light lens and how to use the equipment. Grow all these and well you won’t have to ask others what they think they will automatically respond . Great video! Just really confirms the old adage “You get what you paid for”
100%

Umm..Why the cheap lens picture is less saturated??? Thats not the fair comparison. Lens has notging to saturation
yea they don't look like they had the same lighting???

Exactly! I use it with a CPL filter actually.
Good vid. Beast is better but is it worth the difference for amateurs
At 2.5 minutes in, the minute you showed side-by-side video clips between the 2 lenes, NO CONTEST, Beastgrip destroyed the cheap lens. Great video!
Man, I wish the Beastcage was out already for the 15 Pro Max. I’m terrible at waiting.
You and me both 😅
you can put lens filters on the apexel lens mine comes with it I even putted a 37mmhood then putted a 52mm nd filter inside and 58mm hood on top again
so the wide angle sensor is the best out of three?
why do the lighting look different on your compare shots?? are the chepo lens dirty?
The softer lenses does make it more cinematic
Felt the same using a cheap lens vs sandmarc 60mm
Do you have to use an app to film with these lenses?
What I would like to see is an optical zoom lens with roughly the size of the beastgrip lens
Maybe three times longer.

A much better comparison, as always beastgrip glass quality is unmatched and the cheap lens did punch above its weight for 25$.. thanks

What is the 200$ lens called
Would you recommend these lenses for making motion videos for house tours?, based on the sharpness?
The crazy thing I have learned about using iPhones that makes them tricky to use is the auto AI that try’s to feel in and also limit shacking

Wonderful video! Really clears up some of my concerns.

Which Lens do you recommend for food videos ?
The cheaper one won’t give you the detailed sharp visuals
Doest Beastgrip 1.7x change the minimum focus distance?
yes
Interesting comparison ✌✌❤
Thanks! I appreciate the support.
wow, definitely the 200 lens is sharper, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, lower cost look more cinematic and more realistic for me
Who you fooling where’s image without lens just iPhone
De Apexel is idd een wat mindere telephoto lens…. Maar heeft wel degelijk schroefdraad voor 37mn filters 😂😂 Ik heb zelf de nieuwe Sandmarc 58mm 👌🏼👍🏼
i see a massive difference between the cheap and better, the cheap looks flat and not as sharp
people do everything just to not buy a camera
