I'm so stoked for this bike. I intended to buy an Mt09 this coming year and have already test rode the 2020. To me it looks like they've improved the bike in every measurable way. Super glad I didn't buy the outgoing gen earlier this year as I was considering.

I do not care how awesome my bike is, if I'm not in love with the way it looks then I'm not in love with the bike and manufacturers need to get that through their heads. No one wants to spend 7000+ on something they do not like the look of. People are willing to sacrifice power, comfort, torque just for a colour scheme let alone an actual design. That's why people are upset. No one would spend hundreds on a clothes even if they are super comfortable if they are ugly clothes... let alone a vehicle which most people will only have 1 of. If you're not feeling a shirt today, no problem... wear another one... but your bike... imagine riding something every day that you hate the look of... it's really not that hard to understand. On this video, head light looks okay. I'm glad it's LEDs. Looks better from the side than the previous version. I'm glad they didn't do the off center speedometer. The old version I didn't like the angle of the seat nor the angle of the handlebars. Both were slanted upward too much for my liking.

On a plus, I hope it handles better than even the older SP version which where still like riding a pogo stick when pushed hard. The absolute basic test for anyone that I can literally provide positive decisionmaking when buying a new bike is to just sit on it with the front brake applied, uses all your forces to push the front suspension down. If it rebounds with a couple of “ups and downs” then it isn’t the right bike until, if possible, you can dial in the appropriate amount of compression and (arguably) more important rebound settings...

I love how it looks IMO an improvement on the old model, unfortunately it's too high for me so I'll have to stick to my street triple R, the Kawasaki Z900 is the only other naked middleweight that shorties can stretch.

The problem with moving it lower is that you get a bigger gap between the bars and headlight. And how do you keep the dash close to the clocks? This is the problem with physically small headlights I guess...

Somebody could make alot of money coming out with a round headlight kit (similar to CB650) to replace this headlight. I don't hate the new MT09 headlight but I would pay $200 for a nice 7" round replacement..... The rest of the bike is SWEET!

The stroke was increased 3mm, not the bore. Hence peak torque arrives earlier in the rev range.

I really dig the way it looks. Much better and more modern, a little bit even more futuristic than it should be, but I like it. You gotta understand it, they went for this “incomplete”, cyberpunk look, and they delivered nicely. If you don’t like it, doesn’t mean it’s bad. I’m looking forward to the XSR range tho.

Love it and Yamaha don’t usually drop the ball on the world wide appeal of their bikes. I;think testing the led on the mt03 before rolling out to bigger was a good idea as is the tried and tested R1 imu. Looks like they’ve sorted most of previous criticisms of the mt09 and will sell shed loads probably me included 👍🏻

I commute on a dark twisty highway to my overnight job, so my main concern is how well the headlight actually works. I'm waiting for actual reviews before I commit my $$ to any particular motorbike..and the 09 and 07 are my two favorites, with what bikes are availible locally. It's obvious that Yamaha designed the top of the unattractive headlight assembly to bolt some sort of fly/ windscreen, to suit the owners preference, and clean up its looks at the same time.
