Very few "good" coin wash places allow bucket washing without letting the meter run. I've been run out of a good number of car washes by bucket washing. One owner threatened to call the cops for 'stealing'.
You just have to find the best time (usually at night or very early morning) to use the bay. Me, I just go through the touchless wash to get the big heavy stuff off during winter months and to get the underbody wash. When there's a warm day, I will only then put a rag to the vehicle. It's protected, so I'm not worried much in the winter months.
It is stealing, it's theft of service, same as shoplifting. You rent the bay to wash your car, and the meter is there for you to pay that rent. The owner has the right to demand said rent or have you vacate the bay, and if you don't you're both stealing and trespassing. Also, I shot first.
I lived in Baltimore for a couple years and I got ran out of a car wash their for bucket washing. I have not had a problem in Ohio in the two places i use. But yea I try to go off hours not in the middle of the day after a snow storm.
I know for damn sure that whole process took a lot longer than 40 minutes! I hand wash my mustang using a two bucket method every week and it takes about an hour
Great video! Glad to see a quick runthrough of how to properly use some of the products too. Can't believe how easily he cleans these wheels. Usually those are the most painful part...
I like to spend around 3-4 pounds on this type of wash. I put 1$ in and just rinse the car down to get some mud off, next I put another $ in and spray it down with soap for the whole 4-5 mins. Next I wash my car with the correct brushes/mits. Then last I spray some wax on it then rinse all off. 3$ spent. Then I use the other 1$ for vacuum.
We apologize for the re-upload, this was the originally intended video with some extra shots and music but accidentally uploaded the previous version which was longer in time. Thank you for watching and again we apologize for the confusion.
Go to these places during non peak times and you wont get messed with for using your own bucket. I do it all the time and don't get messed with. Generally these things will start for $2 bucks and run for 8 mins. Bring all you stuff like the video shows just take all the extra steps out. 1st put $2 bucks in, spray your car with soap everywhere for 3 of your 4 mins. Then use the last min to use the wax and spray that all over your car. If it has a seperate foam wax nozzle even better!!! Never use the brush. Now spray your rims and let the soak while you take your bucket and mit and wash your car. Then finish your rims and tires. 2nd put another $2 bucks in and spray off your car for 3 min getting all the crap and soap off it. Then for the last min use the spot free rinse to finish the car off. Pull it out of the bay and dry the car off, apply tire shine and your done. Clean your wash mit and stuff at home and you just washed your car for $4 bucks in about 15 to 20 min.
My local car wash folks here start yelling if they see anyone using a bucket or hand drying in the bay - even during off peak hours. So in the winter - touchless car washes are the only option. Shell has a half decent one.
Nice process! Very helpful. Regarding the tire shine. I prefer a less shiny appearance....is there a product that will clean your tires and give them more of a satin appearance? Thanks-
+H G Adam's Polishes VRT (vinyl, rubber and trim) Dressing is the perfect product for new looking tires, not shiny looking tires. You can find it here: adamspolishes.com/adam-s-super-vrt-tire-trim-dressing.html?___SID=U
Easy, go to the car wash and use just one time cycle to high-pressure wash any grit off, then go home to wash and rinse with your garden hose. Also, I shot first.
Honestly, there is a gas station on Federal Blvd in Denver that I go to that has a $5 basic car wash that is brand new, and lets me "loiter" over the undercarriage blasters for as long as I really want. On my daily driver, I usually go there after Denver dries out from the previous snow storm simply to spray off the undercarriage thoroughly, the rest of the car being fairly clean is just a bonus. Otherwise I have a hose adapter for my faucet and I can run warm water all the way to the driveway. That is really where it's at.
I must ask what one of those systems cost. I was looking at some tunnels for sale online and they were all $ 1-2 Million. Do you wash your own car with your machines?
Mine was a super short tunnel, and I paid $50,000.00 for the system, and rented the building for $800.00 monthly. The equipment was old, rusty, and crusty. I did was my car in my wash because the paint was toast anyways. Most of the wash
you can even do it cheaply because you know automatic washers can mess up your paint, chip away glass, mess up antennas the list goes on and this way you get to spend time with your car and really grow a bond with it.
Good vid but it is not recommended to spray a pressure washer water stream directly into the cowl vent panel. On modern vehicles you can damage sensors/electronics by doing so.
Question for you, when we use the Adams Polish wheel cleaner it comes out fantastic.. but then after a few days we notice this brown, almost rust looking color coming form the center caps usually, why is that? Is it because we aren't blasting the cleaner our enough or is there a greater problem?
Never ever use same towels for body, and wheels(tires). When drying lift good and trunk( leftgate) to drip excess h2o, then wipe. Also being it's winter definitely clean all wipers, due to small it's of dirt, road salt etc... Before cleaning your vehicle do a walk round inspection, which will save you time, and if you can clean mats at home that will save money on the back end. Otherwise I like the vide!
I spend a total of $1.50 for a 4 minute wash at the self service car wash. I drive into a self service bay, add $1.50 in quarters and spray down my car with a high pressure rinse water to remove dirt, dust etc. i Drive out, park and do a rinse-less wash with 6 MF towels soaking in a bucket with the rinse-less wash solution. It takes me about 30 minutes max. I dry my car with a microfiber drying towel with a drying aid applied to the paint. Viola, my car is happy, my wallet is happy.
Ever see the sprayers while your in a drive though car wash? That’s spaying the brushes, not just your car, so actually it is safe. I think. Don’t quote me

How are they allow you to bring your own bucket and handwash inside the washbay? Im in San Diego area, and most DIY car wash don't allow to have Buckets and handwash. So does anyone know a DIY car wash like this that let you use a bucket and handwash inside the bay in the San Diego area? thx.
You can't bucket wash dummy in my area the good self wash place has a service employee and he will kick you out off their property, and you want to be touchless as possible, try your best not to scrub your car, any scrubbing you are potentially rubbing fine dirt particles all over
Yes it’s expensive, but hey get on a maintenance program from your favorite detailer , I think 120 a month, then you save the time and get professional results from a reputable business!
The carwash owner doesn't like it when you keep the bay door open in winter temperatures! So you'll get a lot of fumes from all the drivers who leave their cars running while they wash! This isn't a good idea in Minnesota winter unless you have heated parking. Washing can mess with door latches and make them perform very poorly, and can lead to doors freezing shut along the door seal!
VERY UNREALISTIC for most people in the middle of a winter to wash a car as you did (it's probably above freezing at the time of your video) took way too long and the car should be all frozen by now.
So let's get this straight...you're swiping your credit card, in an unattended car wash booth, that's (probably) open 24 hours, that anyone can easily access and install a skimmer to. You have a lot more faith than I do
Guess he doesn't use a coin op /manual car wash to often. Firstly don't use a Debit card and check for skimmers. Secondly minimal charge is probably $5 not 2 so try to get it done with one swipe. Even on a big vehicle i could have done it in half time for half the cost without putting muddy wheel water on the car.
my car wash starts the water at fucking $5.20 lmfao so what I do is I just rinse the car off with water, soak it with the soap option then rinse with water, then apply the wax feature too it, then after when I get home I hit the wheels and buff it. But I def wouldn't spend more then $5 if I can just do the rest at home lol as long as I put $5 towards cleaning and getting the dirty and stuff off, I can just buff it and what not when I get home
No. No. No. Never. Ever. Ever. Clean your door jambs in that manner. That's killing a fly with a blow torch and risking burning down your house. You get the door jambs cleaned and detailed in 2 steps: (1) Spray on Lemon Pledge; (2) Wipe off.
Honestly can't say I have seen anyone take this long cleaning their car at a car wash. Not only do you have to pay premium price for the products, you have to sit outside for 40 minutes using them. I want to see the video after he drives around and how quick the car gets dirty again haha. I used to be a car guy keeping it clean and detailing but I have just started my career and in my experience (depending on where you live) it seems like wasted effort one rain or snow and you are back to square one.
+Scott C " I want to see the video after he drives around and how quick the car gets dirty again haha" this channel is not for you. That sentiment can be said after anyone washes their car at any point in the year.
Scott C No I have never used any of his products, however it's the same principal, right? You wash your car to keep it clean same as you wipe your ass, even though both will be dirty again in a few days.
Amazing video. PEOPLE make sure you find a car wash like this that cares for the consumer so many of these washes especially in LA ban bucket wash. Dumbest idea ever.
Hey all you needIs the wax rinse and your all done don’t use soap ! Leaving the wax on you just blow the dirt away next wash ,repeat this all winter my truck shines like new ! 3 bucks for 3 minutes everything else is hog wash what your doing and such a waste of time !
I'll bet his SUV is covered with fine scratch's from using a 1 bucket method & spending $20-$25 when he could have had it cleaned at a professional car wash & had it done faster & no scratches do to dirty wash mit & water in bucket..
Very few "good" coin wash places allow bucket washing without letting the meter run. I've been run out of a good number of car washes by bucket washing. One owner threatened to call the cops for 'stealing'.
Theres one 2 blocks down from my house that allows it. They literally make a buck more since i need to run it twice 3 dollars each
You just have to find the best time (usually at night or very early morning) to use the bay. One of the best car washes I've been to is when I was in Minnesota. It was heated bays with doors..
Where's that? (I'm in MN would be nice to find this!)
Where at?
I know for damn sure that whole process took a lot longer than 40 minutes! I hand wash my mustang using a two bucket method every week and it takes about an hour

Adams Polishes do you have the link to all the stuff you used for your Cherokee
Doesn’t hoses have to be disconnected during the winter
I'd gather it was warmer than 32F that day?
I'm asking because I've tried to spray wax/dry when it's too cold and you start to get icing.
Do you know what is the recommended temperature for cleaning your car? I cleaned in 10 degrees F, it froze the body panels
DO NOT WASH CAR BELOW 40 DEGREES !!!

No 2 bucket?
...and wheels before paint. yikes.
yep always wheel before paint.
ALWAYS wheels before paint ... but not using the same water.
I wana see this done on a budget like with only $5.00
Now thats the video we need.
Mr. Lopez easy I usually spend about $5 doing this get in there setup first $2.50 first time wash it quickly second $2.50 spray it down their you go
Mr. Lopez no I see these mistakes and just know it’s simple sales pitch -
Easy, go to the car wash and use just one time cycle to high-pressure wash any grit off, then go home to wash and rinse with your garden hose. Also, I shot first.
The video we want
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips and Go Ducks!

At my car wash there is always a lineup, people would be PISSED if someone did anything but use the wand.
Can you wash your car like what you did in the video at sub freezing temperature (
I just spray mine off every week or so when it's sub-freezing. Lol too cold for my blood!
Hell yeah just make sure you have warm water to clean off all that frozen dirt
I actually owned a drive thru brush car wash... Muddy area too.... I'm sure we swirled up our share of cars.
I must ask what one of those systems cost. I was looking at some tunnels for sale online and they were all $ 1-2 Million. Do you wash your own car with your machines?

Most of the wash
What kind of ladder did you use to reach the roof?
could I use the brush if I rise it off with the pressure washer
Did you guys stop making videos or something?
you can even do it cheaply because you know automatic washers can mess up your paint, chip away glass, mess up antennas the list goes on and this way you get to spend time with your car and really grow a bond with it.
What if I live in a place where all the car washes charge almost 10 dollars a minute?
did you take off the rear emblem that show's your trim like limited and summit
Sad to say that where I wash my car a bucket wash is not allowed. The owner keeps walking by every washing bay every few minutes.
Heck that what if it's below zero like the weather we get here in Chicago I will freeze lol
jessie lmfao this was me last Thuesday! The temperature was dropping all that evening. The water was freezing 😂
Then you don't wash the car. Just do something else you enjoy. As long as you prep it for the winter months you should be good.
@@Methodical2 do you live in Illinois?
@@dylanmaxard5822 No.
@@Methodical2 the road salt wats your vehicle
One thing is that you don’t use the same rag to dry your car on your wheels. You should always have separate rags for them.
Good vid but it is not recommended to spray a pressure washer water stream directly into the cowl vent panel. On modern vehicles you can damage sensors/electronics by doing so.
The self car wash I go to do not allow you to bring buckets
How do you protect it against salt that can equal rust
Are you ever concerned about too much water pressure on the paint?
Question for you, when we use the Adams Polish wheel cleaner it comes out fantastic.. but then after a few days we notice this brown, almost rust looking color coming form the center caps usually, why is that? Is it because we aren't blasting the cleaner our enough or is there a greater problem?

Great tips, thanks!
?: Is there a concern about the water pressure from the wand damaging the finish ?
👍🏻
It seems standard, so should be fine.

*pressure washes the area 😂😂

I was under the impression you should rinse tires and not scrub them cause tires have oils in them.

90% of the time at a self-serve car wash. I just rinse my vehicle down. No soap. I don’t even wipe the water off it. Only the windows.
This car wash wouldn't work here in Boston with below zero Temps. Water left on the car gets frozen before you even start drying it with a towel .
Love your Patagonia coat! I have the same one.
40 minutes can't be true by my experience?
My car wash is always full 🤣
what about clay bar

I live in Nj, and no car wash allows it at all. Ive been to NY and PA , neither too lol. Its stupid tho.
Never use hot estrr on clearcoat. It softens and will scratch.
Pretty unrealistic for a public car wash
40 minutes is not "quickly."
Great concept except everyone knows how jammed up a car wash is after snow. I'd feel guilty bucket washing while folks wait and stare.
