    The season, and the impact that Randy Moss had as a rookie in 1998 is something that might never be seen again. There have great receivers drafted in the years since, but none of them had the mind blowing talent and ability to take over a game like Randy did in '98.

    The way Randy Moss could just absolutely take over a game like that is something that hasn't been seen before or since. No other wideout was ever as effortlessly dominant

      Jefferson isn't far behind - he's just not the home run hitter Randy was. Jefferson's more of a Moss/Carter combo.

    8:51 "I think randy moss as a rookie is better than jerry rice was as a rookie." Ive also heard john madden say that it was obvious to him when randy stepped foot on the field as a rookie that he was the best player in football....but he didnt want to oversell him for fear it may not work out

      The league had never seen anything like Moss before. He had size, athleticism, and jaw dropping speed. Except for Darrell Green, Moss pretty much blew the doors off any CB that had to cover him.

      @@ugotmossed84 oh no I know it’s just most football guys all knew that Randy was the best player in football….but few were willing to actually say it on television like Madden…or Dan Dierdorf…for some reason whenever he had a Moss game he gave him props too.

    Its amazing how these old games remind me of exactly where I was. I was 7 years old, it was only the 2nd Packers/Vikings game I'd ever watch (The MNF Moss game was the first) and our church held a viewing party at a local dine-in theater in Burnsville, Minnesota. This game sold me on being a Vikings fan.

    Back when Minneapolis was a fun city to visit. Nowadays it’s full of homeless and closed stores and has really gone downhill over the past 15 years

      Rice's numbers don't lie and statistically he's easily the best but even he couldn't take over a game completely like Moss could. Remember this is Moss's ROOKIE year. Absolutely dominant player that changed the game. @@michaelleroy9281

    Was at this game. This, the other 98 game at lambeau, are tied with Favre beating the packers as my favorite games ever.

    I really don't think people give Randle his worth sometimes, like the general public. The DT we are getting today at the top who can get 5 sacks or so is so incredibly hard to find with that year-year consistency and even when I was in high school a McCoy/Atkins for example was top of the league let alone a guy like Aaron Donald. Randall was not only in a league of his own at times, but the dude set the pace for DT's to follow. 8 years of 10 plus sacks in a row at that position is monstrous. Barely missed 9. Don't give that man a reason to hate you.

    The Vikings have had one of the toughest times in the Super Bowl era. So many great teams and really good teams, with no Super Bowl wins. 😢😢

    Hey curious question off the spot for "funkydunkleman:"
    Have you found highlights like this length for the game in which they upset that Joe Montana led 49ers team in the postseason? Many quote that as the best team they fielded. Might be a fun watch.

    Brett Favre running around the dome for his life as usual, the house of horrors for Favre and the Packers. That crowd noise really energized the Vikings defense to play above their talent level. Randy Moss made my childhood so much more fun, what a spectacle he was, will never see another player quite like Randy Moss again.

      Surgery for a back injury, would make a brief appearance in the playoffs against the Cardinals, but deactivated for the Conference Championship.

    4:33-4:37 the most casual deep ball by Cunningham... just wow your own 15 to their 35 in the air is 50 yards no problem. and at 7:30 it gets brighter !!!

    It's a crime this team couldn't win a title. I'm a WAshingto fan and I remember how explosive that offense was. Everyone was a threat. Moss should have been outlawed even as a rookie.

    That third quarter pick thrown by Cunningham, if I remember correctly, was the only Viking turnover until that fateful sack/fumble by Cunningham inside the two-minute warning against the Falcons that Atlanta scored on, on the next play, cutting a 20-7 Vikings lead to 20-14 going into halftime of the NFC Championship. They went almost 6 games without a turnover, just another thing that kept going right for the Vikes on that joyride that was the '98 season. Until Gary Anderson missed. I was at the game, and all of us who had been longtime Vikings fans knew what was going to happen next......

      It was also the play where Jake Reed re-injured his back. He had injured it against the Saints a couple games back, Reed would have back surgery after and would miss the rest of the season.

    Favre is so not good has a QB it’s crazy the amount of INT this guy gives and fumble. If he was a QB in this era he wouldn’t even last 2-3 season and be a backup

    His field goal making percentage was extremely great but the one he needed the most he didn't get especially when you are at home and there were plenty of plays they could have had more points that's got to be hard 2 of some of the greatest recivers in NFL history man the if we're on the cowboys in the 90s they would have More super bowl trophy but you see Randy moss had 3 TD catches that year see what you passed up you made the biggest mistake you him on the cowboys him and Irving people would have aore reason to hate cowboys I think troy would played longer had that happen it would bigger than the wall street journal

      Purple Sword 3 You can’t lay it all on Gary Anderson. The play calling and coaching decisions made during that game are more to blame than anything. Who the hell takes a knee at middle field just before half time with the highest scoring offense of all time and 84 wide right!? Easy 6 points left on the field...

      1 Super Motl i should remind you that the Atlanta falcons in 98 were 14-2.. It's not like the vikings got beat by a 9-7 wild card team.. This game was gonna be decided by a narrow margin.. Anderson's miss was crucial...

      Not just Gary. Fumbled before half. Griffith drops a pick before tying TD. Smith running out of bounds on final drive multiple times instead of staying in bounds as instructed to bleed clock. This all happened before the miss. It was a total team loss and it still hurts!
