If only Gary Anderson had made that field goal against Atlanta in the playoffs, this would have been one of the greatest teams in NFL history. 😢

Yeah, IIRC, we had so many LBs injured in the NFC Championship game, the Super Bowl was probably going to be pretty rough.

It was one of the greatest teams in NFL history regardless of that missed field goal.
But I agree that people tend to forget that we were absolutely hammered by injuries at that point. Denver would have eaten us alive -- that was their year. So the silver lining to the missed field goal is that it prevented us losing our fifth Superbowl.
Now, 2009 is a whole different story...

@@deanladue5367dang - you have a good memory. Denver was a gonna be a tough out. Atlanta was 14-2 - no slouch but this was an epic Vike’s team. Just disappointed they couldn’t pull this game out. Given their talent - playing in the dome, at home. Should have happened but once again they disappoint.

His punt return for a TD was against KC in 1999, his second year. He only had one return in 1998 and it was for 0 net yards. And Moss was most definitely a major offensive piece by Week 7. Technically not a starter on the opening graphic but the Vikings almost always opened with a 3 WR set with Moss on the field on the majority of offensive plays.

Still makes me sad thinking about Anderson making every single kick until the final two minutes of the NFCCG and then gaking on the one that would have put the Vikings in the SB and if they had went and won that team would have gone down in history as one of the greatest teams ever ,right up there with the 85 Bears . But not only did Gary miss " he was roughed " and then Griffith dropped an easy game winning INT and Robert Smith went out of bounds with less than two minutes left that contributed to the Dirty Birds having just enough time to tie the game .
