The fact that we didn't win the Super Bowl this year is disgusting
You think you would have beaten Peyton Manning and the Colts?
Peyton got eaten alive by the same Saints team that ate Favre alive.
Andy If the Vikings play a relatively clean game and the officials don't blow those calls the Vikings beat the Saints easy. And as we saw in the Super Bowl, the NFC was clearly stronger this year
Jared Backstrom it's not in the Vikings DNA to win Super Bowls no matter how good they are
Muscle Hamster I so agree those big assholes ruined a good player. I hope they got their due
1998 and 2009 Some very big missed opportunities for the Vikings
😁
Roosevelt Darbey choke against atlanta still. Either way, they would have been beaten by all time great broncos team
and the 2017-2018 season... it hurts to be a vikings fan :')
2017 as well. It’s like we’re a Super Bowl contender only once a decade 🤦🏽♂️
Naw they would have beat that broncos team t.d even said it he was terrified to play that team and I think they would have lost to the colts in 2009
Favre should've had MVP that year and another sb ring
Drew Brees>>
1terraforce yeah Peyton didn’t deserve mvp that year
That would have been true, except he lost the NFC Championship by throwing a pick in OT just like he did the year before with the Packers. 😑
@@TLouski kinda like how manning threw a game losing int in the sb right
@@drewbrees22 honestly I'd have been okay with brees. I'd prefer favre tho considering how much elevated that whole team and came off a major surgery for his throwing arm that could've limited his ability to play. Vikings played a slightly harder schedule too. Favre and brees were my top 2 candidates followed by Chris Johnson then peyton manning.
Best year of football I ever experienced as a Viking fan.
Too young to have witnessed 15-1 in '98? That was even better. Even '17 seemed like a very charmed year (especially after the Minneapolis Miracle), they had the #1 defense & the 1st time they went 13-3, better than '09's 12-4. I think our roster is shaping up very well now so maybe another NFC title game letdown is on the docket? I like the new coaching staff
@@bifftannen1598 they need another home nfc championship game. The last three nfc championships we were the number 2 seed and lost to the 1 seed at their house.
@Biff Tannen that 15-1 season made me believe the Vikings will never win a Superbowl
You’ll be back this season
I’ve lived in WI my whole life and when Favre left to go to MN, I cheered for the Vikings every game he played.
I really think that if Sydney Rice was healthy in 2010, we would have been a 10-6 team. Fabre and Rice had such a great chemistry, losing him for the 2010 season killed us
I wonder what would have happened if Moss came back to Minnesota in the 2009 Season. (Season when we went to the NFC Championship).
The Packers owned that season
If Prime Favre Stepped Onto The Field In 2009 Knowing Full Well What He Has To Do
Future Gohan if lol
That would have been fucking awesome to watch, Favre throwing bombs downfield for Moss to snatch out of the air. If Randy Moss were in that team with a healthy Sydney Rice on the other side and Favre throwing to them they would have had a chance at being one of the most potent offenses ever. Plus it would have been pretty fucking cool seeing Favre throwing to Moss instead of playing against him. Even almost a decade later it is still so weird seeing Favre in a purple Vikings jersey, particularly the Vikings 2 games against the Packers. If you would have told people back in the early 2000's that Favre wasn't going to stay a Packer his entire career and that he was going to sign with the arch rival Vikings I don't think anyone would have believed you, lol. Those God damn cheese eating Packer bastards sure have gotten lucky at QB in the last 25 years. Seriously though, they have only had 2 starting QB's (outside of the few starts through the years that Rodgers missed to injury), and both those QB's will be among the top 5 or 10 QB's all time when all is said and done. Even if you hate the Packers you have to admit how crazy it is that they went from one hall of fame QB who played with them for years and years, then he decides to leave Green Bay only for another future hall of fame QB to replace him and play for years. I don't think there is a team in NFL history that had fewer starting QB's over an almost 30 year span. There are teams who start more than 2 QB's every other week, just look at Cleveland; they have close to 30 QB's who have started at least one game since they relaunched the franchise in the late 90's, lol.
Romo went down way more than my ex-wife ever did
Which hopefully is why she's your EX wife.
ROFLMFAO!!!
You’re ex wife probably disliked your comment. LMAO
OMG! LMFAO!!!
That is funny shit
The subtitles read "The Minnesota Vikings take on the New Orleans Bountygaters". Nice touch.
This still hurts to watch. I watched this game like 6 times before the next game vs the saints... percy got his migraines that week and one look into his eyes you could see the pain he was in, he fumbled in that game. Vikings turned it over 5 times and we are in disbelief a decade later
that 09 team my fav vikes team ever.
98
Savage Tilley 98 Vikes were the most exciting team
Wasn't a vikes fan until favre arrived. I did like John RANDLE!
John Randle was the best.
09 was good but I liked 98 Vikes they had it all except coaching.
Troy Aikman was sooo silent in the highlights!
Funny you say that, these stupid Cowboy fans here in Dallas complain that Troy is always hating on his former team. Never understood that lol. So maybe he is really objective
He was embarrassed tbh. I don't think Aikman likes Romo.
Minny Paul because Cowboys were getting destroyed
Minny Paul I don't blame him. He won three super bowls with the Cowboys. Plus, he was probably thinking why Romo why?
Well, to be fair, most of the color commentary was cut on this video.
Poor Tony Romo had no chance this game. People said he choked a lot, and I'll agree sometimes he did, but I would say if he had the O-line the cowboys had now which he did and a big reason why they almost went all the way in 2014 he probably would have won a ring. His escape ability is unreal. I always like Tony Romo. One hell of a QB.
Plus the catch that was actually a catch
@Matthew Alkman he was good but he o line was shit
Pretty sure 2014 was the year Romo lost a playoff game going 17-19 for 200 yds 2tds and no turnovers.
I get tired of being a cowboys fan sometimes lol
@Shabazzrgt007 Bazz romos trash
@Shabazzrgt007 Bazz regular season your right but playoffs he failed everytime w prime weapons in many years, like TO. He turned the ball over all. If the regular season is the only things that matters than I agree with you.
That DAL o-line spent more time standing around than blocking for romo
Yep. And they kept sucking ass for like three more years... Thanks a lot JJ
Romo had no protection the entire game and we missed two field goals. Add in the defense getting burned like toast and you have the 2008-2013 cowboys
HanShotFirst& Friends he slow af tho
HanShotFirst& Friends Imagine Romo with the protection of 2016 as well as the 2014 Offense and with The 2018 Defense ?
@@tozen7734 That 2009 defense was ranked 2nd. The year b4 that defense lead the league in sacks with 61 and tied third in takeaways. The year before Romo had a team of 13 Probowlers and went one and done! Talk about protection...how about Flozell Adams leaving to win a SB the following season in AT&T Stadium with GB
DallASS Cowboy Fans: ToNy RoMo Is A gReAt QuArTeRbAcK...
@@JayPharmD Flozell Adams played with the Steelers in 2010
As a cowboys fan I called out of work for this game 😂😂
This team 100% deserved a Super Bowl win. Breaks my heart. Ray Edwards had just an insane game. I don’t ever recall a Vikings team being this talented. They were more loaded and a more complete team than the 98 Vikings. Allen, the Williams wall, Winfield, Hutchinson, McKinney, AP, Taylor, Favre, Shiancoe, Rice, and Harvin. What a team.
I'm a Steeler fan, but the 09 Vikings were so fun and exciting to watch. I was pulling hard for those guys in the 09 playoffs. They had a SB calibre team and Favre deserved it that year to go out on top.
i'M a StEeLeR fAn
@@rancidcrawfish As a Manchester United Soccer fan, awesome! 😄
The following season the Saints were punished for cheating throughout the playoffs and attempting (with success) to injure
several hall of fame quarterbacks, the overtime rules for playoff games were changed to prevent anyone getting screwed over in OT like Minnesota did, and the game has yet to ever be re-aired amid the terrible officiating crew that literally won the NFC championship game for the Saints.
The officiating crew has since been broken up and the Saints haven't come close to getting as deep in the playoffs without getting their hands held while officials look the other way. Minnesota meanwhile has returned to the playoffs on more than one occasion with teams that are only a shadow of this one.
This game still gets re-aired on occasion, because it does an amazing job of highlighting the best team in the NFL that year.
Ephemis Priest you contridicted yourself
Ephemis Priest you’re so fucking salty lol get over it . You have your chance this year lol
Ephemis Priest
I believe the saints should have been disqualified from playing the rest of the season after they found out they were purposefully trying to injure other players.
Dont discount the saints. They worked hard and did a good job. Your quarterback threw a costly interception at the end of the game. The saints beat you guys. Deal with it.
Ephemis Priest Stfu kid the Saints beat the best qb at that time in the SB Peyton Manning!!
Thanks for making these videos, it's both nostalgic and painful to see that explosive offense and playmaking d
Man I was super hype for this. Made a couple bets, I was 19 just moving back into my dorm room for my junior year in college. Crazy lol
Pains me to see how good we were to only find out later about New Orleans' head hunting scheme. What a fun season to be a Vikings fan!
You guys had one too. You guys were a dirtier team than us in 2009. You guys injured more opponents than us in 2009. Our offense was our driving force, not our defense. You guys hated Brett Favre for so many years and enjoyed watching him get pounded. Bountygate is not what caused you guys to lose the NFC champuonship, it was all your fumbling
@@jjb1908 Injuring opponents while play tough football is far different than having a bounty out on key players and intentionally going after them with the purpose of injury. No team was dirtier than NO at that time. We hated Farve because we knew he was good--but 99% of MN fans at that time would have loved to see Favre wearing purple. It was an exciting time when he was. Fumbling didn't help, but cheap shots and no calls by the refs was the reason for the loss. It's not a secret or an opinion.
@@SpeedCultureStudios so, would you be happy if Aaron Rodgers joined your team
@@jjb1908 yes absolutely lol. Just wish it would have happened 3 years ago. But you know the drill-Green Bay to jets to Minnesota…
@@jjb1908 didn’t say you were the only dirty team but to say MN was dirtier is laughable. And no-not just an ankle hit. Late hits. Pile drivers etc.
Brookings crying at the end of the game when Favre was still throwing for td's was priceless.
Such an asshole. Jimmy Johnson said,' if you don't like it, stop 'em
In their face on that 4th touchdown pass. Jimmy called it right.
The Favre Rice short lived matchup, is still one of my favourite matchups overall! GPG!!! F4L💚💛💚💛
6:38 - "That's brett favre doing what he's done his entire career."
That same "Favre" play was the one that cost them a trip the the super bowl one game later. Live by the Favre, die by the Favre.
I guess you don't remember the game really. His interception didn't cost anything. With current field position it was 52 yarder which was pushing it for longwell. Anyway first down , run 0 yards... Second down same thing... Timeout and then 12 men on field. So now 57 yarder is a no go. .. it was 3rd and 15 and they needed yards. Throwing it away changes nothing.
Kristopher Kubsh it actually was going to be a 55 not a 57 as they were on the 38 yard line. Longwells long that year was 52 and career 55. If Favre ran out of bounds he could have picked up 3 or 4 yards, and he has someone in front of him at the 32 yard line. If he lead the throw out of bounds the recipient could have caught it. That would have been a 50 yarder. Longwell could have done it.
Kristopher Kubsh not to mention Longwell was 8 for his last 8 from 50 plus.
that's the life of then gunslinger
Trading Jared was the dumbest thing Kansas City ever did.
Actually I thought Allen signed as a free agent.
"How long as he been rolling to his right and throwing across his body to the middle of the field?".....see next game 😩😩😩😩😩😩
Foreshadowing. 🤤
Love it!!!!!
Tracy Porter did his homework & jumped the route. And then he got Manning in the SB
I don't know if this has been stated. The last touchdown, cowboys sideline started yapping at Favre. Apparently they were insulted by the touchdown and thought Favre was running up the score. The sportscaster actually got upset, he said "do you know what you should do then? Stop them" anyways the mn bench cleared, they got mad shit was directed at Favre. One of the greatest flexs I've ever seen in my life. This team was greater than the SB winners. A perfect team
2009 was such simpler time.
1:27 Gerald Sensabaugh still looking for the ball
I'm glad I was only 8 years old. I would've never let this season down if I could've remembered it better. Seeing Blair Walsh miss that kick in person was hard enough 😂
The high-water mark of Favre's time with the Vikings.
So sad that he fell short of his second ring.
Those two wins over GB were huge in Brett's mind. He wanted revenge and he got it!
@@jeffryhammel3035 New Orleans rig job.
@curthennig9448 Awh, you are SO right. Didn't the Vikings go something like 14-2 or 15-1 that season? As a Wisconsinite, I was really proud of Farve, and not pissed off like he was some kinda traitor. But THAT NFC Championship game was the worst robbery by any team of the loser. It was almost as bad as that NBA West Final a few decades back, when Sacramento clearly outplayed the Lakers, only to lose by a whole bunch of horrible calls. Watching the Minny-N.O. game today just irritates the hell out of me. Many people say "Well, Farve made a bone head play"; but what QB would even be functional in the 4th quarter with all those viscious, illegal hits? At least illegal today, thank goodness. Farve had such great chemistry with guys like Moss that season, and was enjoying the game and playing like a 25 year old. His Vikings were robbed, and Minny STILL doesn't have a Super Bowl Title. New Orleans won big 2 weeks after this. Minnesota would have won even bigger.
@@jeffryhammel3035 Great chemistry with Sidney Rice in 09. Moss came in the following year. 12 men on the field penalty took them out of FG range. I think they had 3 red zone fumbles as well. Favre did take a beating and the game was theirs for the taking. Horrible officiating in OT too.
Favre was a legend, I wish they'd won the SB that year, he deserved to go out on top with 2 rings, but still one of the greatest.
1:22 that pass was so on point, fell right into the WRs arms, defender didnt even know there was a ball lol, he got caught way off guard the wr didnt even have to move his arms. #43 was like wtf just happened
That 09 Vikings team was arguably the best team the Vikings ever had they had plenty of talent
1998?!
@@Johnhargrove18 forgot about them but that I think that 09 team got them beat on both sides
Still I can’t believe we didn’t go to the Super Bowl that year.Even tho I moved to 🇳🇴 I’m die hard fan. Vikings for life.
Holy shit Romo had zero time to throw all game. I really wish Dallas didn’t wait till he was in his mid-30s to finally start investing in the offensive line.
This is one of my favorites games I was able to see live. The fact the media was nearly unanimously saying Cowboys were going to win this game. Nevermind the fact that the Vikings were undefeated at home that year and they dominated at home winning the last 5 home games by at least 17 points. The stadium was so damn loud that game it was crazy.
Nobody picked Dallas to win this game. Vikings were the better team and they deserved to win so stop making fake stuff up about Dallas being favored!!! Hopefully (I didn’t say definitely) Dallas can end their divisional woes tomorrow!!!
@@SinaSoh You are simply wrong. I am not talking vegas. Vikings were obviously favored with the gamblers. I am talking the ESPN prognosticators. And I am saying the majority of the "experts" on the air picked the Cowboys. Obviously some picked Vikings too. The player I was most worried about was Demarcus Ware.
@@matt4787 nobody picked Dallas to win. Almost everyone (myself as a Cowboys fan included) expected it to be Vikings vs Saints in the NFC title game (which it turned out to be). Maybe those analysts wanted the Cowboys to win (amazing for ratings) but the Vikes had Favre and he was a good draw as well!!!
@@SinaSoh the commentators always bash the vikings. and rarely do they unanimously pick the vikings to win games. its actually kinda crazy how much hate and negative commentary the vikings receive. not to mention how badly they are screwed by horrible officiating.
@@SinaSoh There was a decent amount in various media saying that the Cowboys were playing better football the last quarter of the season and thought they would beat Minnesota in the playoffs. Anybody with half a brain though knew the Vikings weren't losing at home to Dallas.
the coverage on that first TD was despicable
Bounty Gate ruined this year. Cant believe it
Actually, Brett did. All he had to do was throw it away or run with it and Longwell would've booted that field goal in that dome. Can't blame bounty on that one. Favre's a fucking legend for staying in that game though
I sure am! Bountygate had almost everything to do with that loss.
can't blame Bountygate on rendering Favre injured (fractured ankle) at a critical moment of the game leading him to force a throw (intercepted) rather than run 5 yards into field goal range....
right?
RandomMikael sucks to suck. Packers have 13 rings. Vikings have 0
POKE ASH I see your counting National championships, well then the Vikings have 1
6:48 probably the biggest foreshadowing I’ve ever seen
A favorite when he came to Minnesota. He helped putting a dagger in our rivals hearts. Just recently found his football card As Viking.... The gun slinger...... Minnesota Vikings SKOL NATiON..... Uffta!
That pump fake to make the DL jump at 3:20 was text book Awesomeness
The magic of Favre is the only reason Rice ever got paid. He did nothing before or after #4 made him a Pro Bowler.
Miss Brett the legend never be another
The next quarter back the Vikings draft should look at Brett Farvre's game play and learn how to play the position like him.
I can’t believe that was 10 years ago already.
This game wasn’t much less brutal than the Saints game. Favre was smashed after a bunch of these passes just the same. And people act like Brady could do this in this type of game please.
Farve NEVER complained about those illegal hits. Sheesh... what a guy.
Brett Favre, the guy both Packers and Vikings fans love
The high-water mark of Favre's Minnesota swan song.
I miss these jerseys they're my favorite
2009 Vikings were really fucking good, it's a shame they couldn't make the SuperBowl because of the cheating Saints! However Brees did deserve his ring.
The Vikings beat themselves with so many turnovers too. I found strange they were in position to win it despite the turnovers.
Well, they outgained the Saints by a ton! Without the turnovers, they may have blown them out. But it's the Vikings. Destined for disappointment. I've been a fan since 1969 and really wonder if I'll ever get to see them win a Lombardi. Even when they were 5-0 last season, I had no doubt they would crash and burn. You can't survive with an O-line that dreadful.

STEVEN BOYTON 😂😂 I swear they cheated
A little Easter egg lol
Loved the subtitles at the end.
I remember watching this gaming thinking, without any doubt, that I wanted Brett to win this game.
The next game I was on the ropes. Neither team had won a Super Bowl. Sota had lost 4 in their history and to this day Brees is my favorite QB. But I remember watching that Saints game, thinking that It would be great if Favre could go out with a second Championship and by the forth quarter I was rooting for Minnesota. Guess I should have been rooting for them the whole game cause they obviously blew that chance.
We can also speculate all we want or act confident like we know without a shadow of a doubt on who would have won. But I'm definitely curious on how that Colts-Vikings matchup would have gone. Manning - Favre. What a game that might have been.
"How long has Favre rolled to his right and thrown across his body, which is a no no?" Joe Buck foreshadowing. Still hurts.
When the o line literally collapsed smfh
It look like they literally killed Romo out there and it was hilarious...
I will never get tired of seeing romo choke in the playoffs!
Love the captions. Nice Easter Egg in there at the end.
If only Favre had "more time" vs. Saints, Vikes could've made it to the SB this yr. Don't know if it was a physical or mental thing (maybe upstairs coaching too?) but no effective adjustment made to combat the blitzes Saints threw at them that game.
I'm a Cowboys fan and Brett Favre is the ultimate Field General my favorite quarterback of all time!! toughest baddest sob out there!!
If you watch at 6:35 where Favre rolls to his right and fires across his shoulder...same play he was intercepted on a week later when victory was in his grasp. To the same player too.
I was at this game and at High Noon everyone waving the white towels the stadium felt like it was gonna fall down and it did a couple months later. Lol It was loud in there and cowboys couldn't do shit
. Viking mascot rode around on a Harley and he looked like a real bad ass.. A VIKING! . Lol
as a Vikings fan this was such a magical season miss this 😪
aS a ViKiNgS fAn
Following the Vikings that year was a Blast! They were textbook. Notice how quick Favre was on quick pass plays. Unreal. He would hike it and that ball would already be leaving his hands.
i love doing the do doooooo (vikings horn) to random people i walk past.....SKOL!
Been a vikes fan since 1980
Stuck with them through it all the good and the bad.
No band wagon fans wanted or tolerated!!!
As a Cowboy fan trying to watch this again made me sick. We got destroyed at the line of scrimmage. Totally destroyed.
And yet you were 2 missed FGs away from only being down 17-9 near the end of the 3rd quarter with the ball & a chance to go down & tie it up or at least cut it to 5. It's easier for things to snowball for a team if they're playing stressed & have to catch up, which is what happened to Dallas in this game
Just another Cowboys playoff loss. Nothing new here.
6:30 Romo looks like a character from family guy that just ell down the stairs.
Wisconsin boy here. Love farve!! Love farve.
1:23 that is perfection.
The irony about him rolling to his right and throwing across his body being a no no.
Yep - some serious foreshadowing at 6:45
2009 was a great season for the Vikings. Man, we were only one game shy of the Super Bowl and we just messed it up.
It’s crazy hearing Joe Buck telling Troy that it’s amazing the confidence Favre has in himself to even commit the QB’s cardinal-sin…rolling to his right and throwing back over the middle🎯😂😂😂😂
(Samething he did to LOSE the NFC Championship🎯)
That Favre to Rice combo was something else🤔
Damn the Vikes were loaded this season
amazing quality
That Vikings team was stacked on both sides. Should have won the SB. Probably would have if not for bounty gate.
Fuck yeah the vikings were trying to make a statement. Sorry horrible broadcasters Troy Aikmen and Joe Buck
I remember watching this game on sunday, my step dad was cooking meat on the grill and i was wearing my tony romo Jersey, man watching this game as a 9 year old really hurt my feelings
Only 9 year old kids or people of the same mentality had trust in Romo.
Best season ever!!! Miss this Vikings team
see 1998 (15-1, Randy Moss, Cris Carter, etc)
My favorite squad growing up…..should’ve been our year we finally win it all
This has the be the most talented Vikings team next to the 98’ team. Unbelievable we didn’t win it that year.
farve in a vikings uniform, is like the easter bunny bringin presents down the chimney on x-mas eve
!!!
This Cowboys offense honestly wasn't very good at all. They had what, Tony Romo throwing to Witten and Austin... that whole O-line was so old, Wade Philips got fired halfway through the next season and right after that they dropped 3 or 4 starting O-line to rebuild. Waste of a pretty excellent Cowboys defense.
TheNumberOneGuyDude excellent Cowboys defense what the????? We had Demarcus ware and then who else?!?!?
@Brian Waller That's why teams blitz, like NE did in the SB, that's how you get around a great OL.
As a cowboys fan I was watching this game on my 15th birthday this was soo heartbreaking to watch them lose

This season was so much fun. I still can’t believe what happened in the end…
farve's second td was outstanding
Great sportsmanship @7:44
this team was special
This Vikings offense had such diverse weaponry
Now this is how you post a Football Game! Don't blink you might miss it. Brett Favre looking his best!
"How long has Brett Favre been rolling right and throwing to his left"
