"Clay matthews, the rookie" Wow, i don't even know what to say.
Invisible Prick and within ten years he’s already a non factor. Disappointing for packers fans.
BaronVonBielski he’s a factor on the rams
NFL Insider not anymore lmao
@@BaronVonBielski he was still very good. Hes older now so.
BaronVonBielski It’s amazing how many illegal hits Matthews got away with.
For a while, this was the most viewed game in ESPN's history. America loves Favre!!
America loves the Packers too. Cowboy's arent really America's Team they just want you to think that.
@@Justin-nq6kf Yeah they WANT to be, it doesn't mean they are.
Plus all the drama surrounding this game wad hard to not want to see. Fans wanted Favre to get revenge. Some fans HATED him for going to a rival team. I just hate that the whole thing ended like this. But Favre got some revenge, but KARMA is a MEAN BITCH.
Count me in. He was the first NFL player I knew by name, so I grew very fond of him since I was in 1st grade.
Whos now the most viewed espn game ?
Look at the velocity on Favre's throws it's incredible. No matter what happened at the end of the year in the Playoffs, this was an outstanding year for him. His age, the injuries, the comeback....the best TD/INT ratio of his career and didn't lose any of that flame-thrower of an arm. I mean just look at how hard he throws the ball through traffic, and how great his timing was with the WR's. Outside of Barry Sanders, as a huge Bills fan, the only non-Bills jersey I ever wore consistently was Brett Favre. He was just so much fun to watch.
Quite a coincidence. Outside of Barry Sanders, as an unfortunate Browns fan, the only other non-Browns jersey I wore consistently was Brett Favre. Those two were my favorite players growing up.
I always wanted a brett farve jersey also as a bills fan
Farve should have won the Super Bowl this year everybody remembers the bad INT but nobody remembers they wouldn’t be in that position if not for APs fumbles
Shane Pleasants and don’t forget the refs
I’ll tell you what happened. He got f*^%#~. I know he threw the INT but that was the only thing that hadn’t happened that game. What were the Vikings supposed to do kick the FG which they have such a history of winning games with lol! Refs gave the Saints that game. Say they make the FG. There would have been a flag and the kicker would have gotten smashed. In comes the other kicker and the Vikings miss lol!
Football will never feel like this again. Favre coming to the Vikings was so outrageous. I'll never forget that year. Being a Vikings fan was so fun.
Bro This was equivalent to lebron coming to the heat
Jared Allen every time they call his name or Jersey number:

Jared Allen, Joshua Burns Preschool
@@wearefarmersbumbabumbumbum1620 Jared Allen CuLiNaRy AcEdEmY
Probably one of Jared Allen's greatest games! He was everywhere, at the same time!
Anywhere you seem to look you see that Number 69 wreaking havoc on the field. I remember this game very much and was anticipating this matchup. Packers fan watching New young star vs his old teammate and mentor
Lol he was so overrated that year, almost all his sacks came against the Packers when they had a backup tackle in
The number of pro-bowlers and All Pro players in that game was amazing!
The number of hall of famers. The Vikings had 3 on offense alone
Jared Allen balled out against the Cheese heads.
MortalFighter Allen balled out that entire season
I was going to like this comment until i saw the number of likes😂
@@TK-zk1xj he's gonna
Yeah, steroids allowed him to have an all career season that year! He was unbelievable all year long!
Allen was a beast
I miss these specific Vikings uniforms. So clean, with the royal purple and gray facemasks
These need to be the primary. Bring back the white masks too
I agree but out currents are pretty nice though especially compared to some other trash in the league
@@z11zen9 white mask are killer
Not a vikings fan but I love their old unis. Don't care much for their currents with the matte helmets
Football in those late 2000s early 2010s was soo good
Favre vs Rodgers matchup, man this was so fun to watch back in the day , this head to head , what a throwback of a MNF game
I couldn’t get enough of this Favre vs Rodgers matchup. I mean, this was fun
It’s like Montana vs Young
@shu s that's because Favre had a bad team dipshit can't do it all I mean idk Favre an old man goes in there and beats him twice he's first year at the vikings that's pretty impressive to beat a young QB like Aaron Rodgers especially how old Favre was
Jared Allen was a beast
imagine, a vikings quarterback with time to throw!!!
this comment has aged well
@@lilBabyBornInCalifornia the Vikings haven't had an OLine since Peterson's rookie year.
@@eodyn7 they currently have a pretty good o line but alright
@@Johnhargrove18until the eagles game
I just love watching the Packers right tackle holding on almost every play
Literally
Ya the packers are the only team I see get away with that
Everyone holds on every play. Holding is the dumbest penalty in all of football. Both offensive and defensive holding. They should honestly just get rid of it altogether
Over 10 years ago man time went by so fast
Vikings should have gone to the Superbowl that year
Farve had some room to run to at least get like 7 or 8 yards to make the field goal closer to win the NFC championship but Favre had to throw it
@@fabianramirez3536 yeah it wasnt Detroit
To be fair, if Minnesota did make it to the Super Bowl, many would also say "man, the Saints should've made it instead". Lol, honestly a Colts vs Saints Super Bowl was a great outcome. Both teams were clearly the best in their conference. The Colts started 14-0 while the Saints started 13-0. Was a legendary season for both teams, and everyone hoped they'd be the two teams to meet in the Super Bowl.
And how can y'all root against my mans Drew Brees? Lol

11:48 Remember when TV channel names ended in "HD"? Those days (~2008 - '12) were the peak of the twenty-first century. Smartphones weren't so big yet, RUclips was still original, and Tom Brady didn't have six rings. God, I miss it!
Was at this game. It was THE loudest event/ anything I've ever been a part of. Absolutely amazing experience. Still love telling the story about how i went with my mom to this game cuz my stepdad was sick. I knew it was gonna be one of the most exciting seasons of football ever 😝
HIGHEST RATED MONDAY NIGHT GAME EVER
Ratings are of no significant value
@@steffensamlal1854 Thanks for providing nonsense.
In ESPN’s history
Farve showing he still gots it with the Vikings great game to remember
I remember this game lot of hype going into the game Brett Favre was one of the most popular players that ever played the game I miss watching Favre play he was always fun to watch play this game in that 2009 season was almost as big as super bowl Brett Favre was a legendary packer he had a amazing season in 2009 with Vikings it’s a shame this Vikings team didn’t win the super bowl that season
Can we all appreciate how aggressive the game used to be? It’s powder puffs now, I’m all for player safety, so it may be for good reason. But these boys are aggressive back then!
Don’t watch it, champ. The tv ratings are quite high!! 👍👍
This was 1 of the best games Favre ever played on a strictly football level, emotions aside. He was so crisp and precise that night. And people say he wasn’t up for big games please.
Brett was the 4th qtr comeback king
I miss this Vikings squad so much...those two seasons of favre/peterson/allen/rice/berrian,shianecoe,harvin...what a missed opportunity
This game made alot of Packers fans go against them that night just because they loved Brett that much
@Stefon Diggs I don't I know alot of Packers fans & they where routing for Farve over their own damn team
@Stefon Diggs exactly & not comparing Farve to Jordan but im a die hard Bulls fan but when Mike played for the Wizards I routed for him
What this game did was separate the true Packer fans from the Favre fans. Revenge was sweet the next year, capped off with the Super Bowl.
@@silverguard8105 you can be a true Packers fan & still cheer from Brett im sure it would've been a different story if it were Wildcard weekend or the NFC Championship game or somethin
@@qceaz11 a true Packer fan does not cheer for the Vikings unless them winning benefits Green Bay. There were fans who chose that Vikings jersey. I've always said this, a true fan puts the team before the player.
Went to this game wen I was 8, lifelong fan from NY so was quite the journey lol, my dad made sure to get these tickets as a surprise for me and wat a memory it was! Barely remember the details but recall the atmosphere it was my first game ever… best part was I got to miss 2 days of school😂💜💛
Favre is THAT DUDE! I forgot the arm strength he possessed
My favorite Packers player!
1- Kirt Counsins need to learn about how Favre move in the pocket
2-Jared Allen was a beast defense player
I agree but to be fair compare that oline to the current one.
Kirt Counsins

@@anujsingh333 lmao..
Favre was Super Quick
I love how Rodgers throws the ball but Favre's throwing motion is pretty damn spectacular. @6:15 his throw to Percy Harvin is a sight to watch. @5:50 I felt he threw that ball so hard to Sidney Rice under that intense pressure.
The look on all the packs faces when brett scored first is priceless lol
This was the first vikings game I ever got the privilege of watching live, I grew up a vikings fan and my dad took me to Minnesota just for this game! Easily my favorite game ever.
Jared allen was such a beast
He should b n the Hall of Fame!!!

Remember watching this as a 7 year old kid. I remember the hype was insane and the game lived up to it.
Those Vikings throwbacks are absolutely gorgeous. Wish they’d bring them back as the permanent uniforms.
Favre definitely still had his arm strength at this point!!
I remember my pops letting me staying up late on an elementary school night to watch this with him. #FavreTheGOAT
Brett Favre: The king of coming out of retirement
My mans Brett Favre gonna retire from retirement.
Dewitt McDidditt Marshawn Favre just came out of retirement again
Farve was great even at 40
What a Great year for legendary Favre.. the packers management thought he was old and washed up, the look on their faces that year when Favre came back and dominated them was priceless......
He was old and washed up. Guess what he did in teh NFC Title game when all he had to do was run? One of his bonehedaed INT's. Guess what happened the following year? Packers whipped his ass and won the Super Bowl. Favre ended up crippled and retired. The Packers management was RIGHT. They got the last laugh.
Favre was awesome! Super fun to watch.
Favre’s throwing movement is mesmerizing
I feel like that's a game farve had to win.
The one in Lambeau on week 8 of that season was more important imo. And he won both lmao
Favre's whole motive to moving to Minnesota was because he knew Vikings played Packers twice lol
How ironic, MNF as well lol.
And Vikings were at home in both lmao
Acito u just hate cousins
I remember seeing Brett Favre running on to the field on t.v. and everything behind him was a blur from all the middle fingers. That season was special.
The entire world was watching this game. It did not disappoint.
Now this is ENTERTAINMENT folks🏉
The year after this, the NFL made them stop doing the famous “helmets clashing” MNF intro, and also instituted most of the new quarterback rules that pretty much immediately changed the game into something it was admittedly already morphing into anyway.
TheLocalLt You mean the year football became trash 💯
You say that now but imagine losing all chance of even getting the the playoffs because your starting qb got injured
dova kitten except that before these rule changes the QB wasn’t a superposition and you didn’t necessarily need your starting QB (or to have your starter even be good) to get to the playoffs, as long as you had a solid run game and O-line you could run it 40 times a game and wear teams down, then hit them with a play action pass for the dagger. Some teams rolled out trash QBs year after year paying them dirt and still made the playoffs every season, because QB is just one position and there are supposed to be multiple different ways to win. That is until these exact rule changes made QB into an untouchable superposition.
@@flippisni
That's football.
and it’s BECAUSE of FAVRE bc the saints had bounties on him
God I miss Brett
I know our 09 defense was good af but it always seemed like they gave up huge plays at rly bad times, idk if that’s Frazier or the players kind of playing complacent. That lost us a few key games that year that lead to us not having home field advantage 😭
Might of been Frazier lol look at the bills letting up all those points in such little time against the chiefs
I was there - it was insane... took a week to get my voice back. Favre made Sidney Rice look like Jerry Rice in 2009... S. Rice never did squat before or after.
Man I never thought i'd see Favre in a Vikings uniform.
Thank you for posting this.
In 2020, Brett made me happy one more time 👍4 ever
God its amazing how old this look with the loose jerseys and stuff. Looks like 30 years ago but feels like yesterday ...
Visanthe Shiancoe was the surprise fantasy TE of the year when Farve came to Minnesota I fuzzily remember. They had a connection when they were inside the 20.
God damn I miss mike and jon in the booth.
From Packers' Country here, and yes, I did love Favre. He had some good numbers that last year with GB when he was traded, and that was hard to dismiss, but honestly it was time for Rogers to get his shot. I was always impressed with Favre's ability to feint with that ball so hard that it would make the defense bite, sometimes twice on the same play, even. Either way, if he had to be replaced, who better than the guy we have now???
exactly ! well said
Esos tiempos inolvidables..de mis Vikingos!!..Jared Allen..vaya defensivo..gran equipo!!!
One of the best teams I've seen not get a chip
It’s pretty crazy to think that this was Brett Favre after his prime.
Brett was a special player. Sometimes we forget. It’s almost like Rodgers greatness really did make us forget about how great his predecessor was. Favre was considered one of the 5 goats(Marino, elway, Montana etc). Now it’s almost as if we only talk about manning, Montana, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers being the best.
Imagine how scary prime AP/Brett/Percy play actions would be
Thank you for everything Aaron. You will be greatly missed in this organization. Once a Packer always a Packer🧀💛💚
Those dark purple helmets were so amazing!
One of Favres great games, probably one of his best besides after his game at oakland on monday night
One of his best? Sorry, when you bring up Favre, the great memories reside in Green Bay.
Wait, wait... I stand corrected. He did create a great memory for Viking fans. That NFCCG interception will never be forgotten! Silly me.
Why was Jared Allen a man among boys
A GOD AMONGST MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MNF During this time was so legendary ...something about it man
Agreed. Still felt big
So many gems in this broadcast
Man... Favre was good!
I remember watching this game. Sweet memories
I love the Vikes throw back uniforms!!
That year was one of the most fun to watch!!
I took my Dad, Brother and Brother in law to this Game, it was the last game my Dad went to before he died! So glad we have this memory! Pre game Afternoon was what you would call a Circus, just pure fun!
Man is the 4 1/2 sacks that Jared Allen got on MNF still a record!? What a game!
This really gives an idea how good the Vikings 'D' was in goal line situations in '08 and '09. Against the Bears the year before, they stopped Chicago cold on four tries. Again here against Green Bay they do the same thing. And when they had the Packers pinned down on their goal line, Jared Allen took over. I bet to this day, Aaron Rodgers still has nightmares about Jared Allen.
Crazy the packers have only got ring with so many years of great QBs. Any packers fan who even complains about not getting to the superbowl just need to shut up, having 20 years of great QBs is just as good
Those onside kicks by Crosby are perfect
Damn that vikings online was crazy
farve and rice were nuts together
Always a pleasure to watch number 4. Now, it's also a pleasure to watch number 12 to.

Damn, if it was any other QB, most of those passes Favre threw would be intercepted, but Favre just throws bullets in between two defenders, he really is a legend.
It might interest you all to know that Brett Favre was the first NFL player I knew about. Despite the fact that I'm not from Minnesota or Wisconsin, I'll be there cheering him on.
Man I have to hand it to the Packers kicker, damn good onside kicks, really gave his team the best chance of recovering
Crazy that this happened 60 seasons ago already!
This was so sweet. Reminds me of Joe Montana in a Chiefs’ uniform sticking it to Steve Young and the 49ers. Favre will always be my choice between him and Rodgers. I was a lifelong Packer fan until they did what they did to Favre. When he left the team so did I.

This is my favorite game of all time
As much as Brett Farve would say that his first game against the Packers wasn’t easy, I would have a hard time believing that based on that atmosphere
Packers suck
Green Bay Packers was member NFC Central Division from 1970 through 1993 and Minnesota Vikings was member NFC Central Division from 1970 through 1993 era
I remember being in 7th grade in Minnesota leading up to this game. It seemed like the whole metro was buzzing and the hype for the game was nothing I had ever seen in Minnesota!
Wow the memory
