The whole point of Rugby is to keep possession of the ball, big guys are constantly trying to rip it off him, that will not be a problem for him. Game awareness and tactics will be where he will be on the steep learning curve.

I think the biggest difference LRZ will find between rugby and the NFL, is that if he is the ball carrier, ALL the defenders will be like homing missiles, homing in on just him ( blockers withstanding). Whereas in rugby, defenders have to have one eye on their opposite number and one eye on the ball carrier. They have to be ready for the ball carrier to off load ( lateral) the ball, left or right, before or during a tackle. More often than not, a defender will have to trust his colleague on his inside or outside to tackle the ball carrier; whilst they maintain marking their opposite number, just in case the ball is passed to them. In the NFL; because laterals are virtually never used, all defenders just home in on the ball carrier; from all directions. The dynamics are totally different.
Also the types of tackles are different in the NFL. "No arms/ chop tackles" were banned in rugby a few years ago. In the NFL, players launch themselves; shoulder pads or helmet first, at a player's knees. (Hence why there are so many ACL injuries). That's no longer allowed in Rugby. Plus you can't take a man out if he is jumping in the air to take a ball and his feet are off the ground. I think LRZ is in for a rude awakening by what is "allowed" in the NFL; but I do think he is more than tough enough to handle it. I'm Welsh and am a huge rugby fan; but have also been watching the NFL since it was first shown on TV in the UK in 1981. My NFL hero - John "The Diesel" Riggins". That man was a human wrecking ball.

I've said for a long time that in Football, very few people tackle. They HIT, but they don't tackle. That won't work all the time against a Rugby Guy as they're trained to instinctually ride impact and keep going. Look at Christian Wade's debut Touchdown for the Bills a few years back (he played a similar style to Zammit). He bounced out of a 3 man tackle and kept going.

Sadly for Wade, time was against him. I seem to remember he was early 30's. LRZ, 23... I can't help thinking about the other values that Louis has, and the crossover going the other direction. Passing ( laterals ) receiving & catching. Tackling, rugby style. Rucks ( no translation!!)
Mad thing is, he's already a success. Fan numbers, shirt sales, interest around the world. Oh, and the girls love him.
He will make the 53, just hope the target on his back doesn't spoil it. Cymru am Beth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A significant difference that LRZ will have deal with is making sure he secures the ball during the tackle. In rugby, you are looking to recycle the ball and your team mates are always waiting to secure the ball or receive the off load. In nfl, you rarely off load in the ball during the tackle. With respect to tackles, the main difference is that you don’t need to wrap the player when tackling in the nfl, in rugby you cannot tackle a player in the air and you will normally be facing the tackler.
Kick returner, is probably the closest role in nfl to rugby, this would be normal business for LRZ, running back is not dissimilar to receiving the ball close to a ruck.
Finally, the main difference is the structure of nfl. Every player has a role every single play, so learning plays is definitely the thing that will be hardest.

All you lot talking about hits 🙄
You have no idea how tough and hard the hits are in rugby.
These rugby players take hits from bosa sized players all the time and get up and carry on.
You Americans think you hit the hardest all the time but personally you don't.
Check out the All blacks, or the French in the six nations, have you seen how hard they hit 😮
Even rugby league is extremely physical.
Also in rugby you generally don't swap out offence and defence so his fitness and strength is combined with supreme endurance.
Also you are not taking into account he is Welsh and rugby and generally being physically strong people is in their nature.
I strongly believe you are underestimating him on how strong he is.
Just be glad the NFL never had Jonah lomu "RIP" big guy, playing in it as he would have flattened everyone.

Rugby's more endurance. Less quick-twitch. NFL is almost all quick-twitch.
LRZ has never been tackled by a 320-pound defensive lineman.
Pads make players think they're invincible. Collisions in the NFL are more violent.
That doesn't mean rugby players are soft. I think the sport is every bit as demanding as NFL football. The amount of running, alone, is much more in rugby. I think the rugby collisions without pads require at least as much toughness, but it's a different kind of toughness. Making the adjustment is very challenging. If it were easy, the NFL would have a lot more rugby player conversions.

@@harrymills2770 How many NFL players have moved to rugby and been successful ?
"Quick -twitch" have you not watched rugby 🙄
And the hits COME ON rugby is absolutely brutal compared to the NFL.
You talk well but have no idea on rugby at all.
And the weight, have you not seen the size of these guys, the heaviest player currently is 352lbs and many of the big guys are around 300+ and that's most of them.
I think LRZ has been "hit" with no pads on, picked up and almost a pile driver into the ground by these big guys and then to not only get up and carry on but dominate a game.
Rugby is bone on bone, muscle to muscle viciousness.
In the NFL you go after the ball, in rugby you take out the player.
The only problem LRZ will have is to remember not to smack the opposition too hard but as he will be on offense it will be unlikely.
If you need more evidence just look up "rugby and blood"
