Bears didn't give Caleb Williams recipe for success vs. Titans | Chris Simms Unbuttoned | NFL on NBC
/ nflonnbc
Sweat and Simmons will blow up a lot of plays this year. They were beasts for Tennessee.
Hard to not have happy feet when the nose tackle is throwing centers and guards at him.
Maaan I’ve been trying to tell people this 😂 those Dlinemen were tossing our guys and giving out pancakes more than our Olineman were 😂
Couldn't have said this better myself. I hope the coaching staff WAKES UP.
98 and 93 on the titans are gonna move some pockets for this Titans D
@@richroach58 *Pause*
I thought it was all Justin's fault lol
We can't overreact to one game but we can't make a million excuses for Caleb either.
nope. Caleb is better than mahomes and Brady combined. He is a god amongst monkeys like us.
Zero excuses made. ALL facts
Also Kennan dropped a dime TD on a short out. That won’t happen too often
Keenan dropped a total of 3 TD's. That has never happened to him before, I would not expect that again. Normally his hands are like glue.
Also CALEB SUKS
Facts
@@MeetTheSLAYERWhat were the other two? Caleb missed him once on a potential TD and Shelton let Jones blow up/tip the pass when Keenan came open on the short post at the goal line
Ball was tipped on td drop
Wait what? Recipe. C. Williams has way more personnel than J. Fields. The Titans collapsed.
Bears Defense was the cause of the collaspe. Our half-time adjustment was " Oh yeah, we are playing Will Levis. Duh"
missed 1-2 throws. it was like 8 bad throws that he would want back.
The play calling was horrible, here we go with the screen passes, didn’t use Kmet, didn’t use the running game, OL was bad ect. The OC needs to figure something out fast….
They used the running game and it went for negative yards on more than half the plays. Putting a rookie QB in 3rd and long is a recipe for disaster. O-line has to be better or it's going to be a long year
The play calling had good designs. Caleb missed 7-8 passes and the o line blew the rest up. But they schemed guys open. It just wasn’t executed.
Everything except Williams sucked
@@tombreckinridge62187-8 passes? You need to rewatch the game since you didn’t pay attention the first time
@@LuisGarcia-wq7ih Caleb admitted to missing 5-6 passes. I watched every play 5 times. He was off target on 7-8 of them.
I think we're all severely underestimating the insane amount of energy the Bears game had. ALL OFFSEASON was Caleb hype on everything, everybody has been waiting for this QB to make his NFL debut since he was in high school, the defense is known to be Top 5, for Caleb personally it was THE MILESTONE he had to achieve in his entire life. Who could blame a 22 year old for getting a little too excited on his first NFL game. The ice has been broken and I think now we see the real 2024 Bears emerge.
I read some stats that said Caleb had the shortest time to throw of anyone this week -- like 2.0 seconds
One thing Bears fans know is bad Quarterback play. I’d honestly say, Williams had bad numbers but he was seeing players and making the right decisions. The misses will get straightened out. I’m zero concerned.
Thank you Chris for dispelling the stupid narrative that all Caleb does is instantly leave the pocket and try to create. Too many media talking heads keep repeating that simplistic critique for some reason. Chris is one of the few who identifies what's actually on the tape.
Nothing is Caleb's fault everybody else is at fault😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly bro
Why are you so negative? I hope you find happiness
Every QB needs a run game to play off of.
The Bears are supposed to be good at running.
I think the Titans front 4 just performed a lot better than most of us expected.
Their starting D Line is extremely underratted.
Justin Fields was the running game the past few years.
@@runnin3216 not exactly. Herbert has been great when healthy.
They only had 14 rushing attempts all day. Only 10 carries by Swift. That's not doing the QB any favors.
We is not good at running da football we average da only reason it was truly good da last 2 years is because of Justin Fields
Not sure you actually watched the Bears game. The first two drives started in or near Titans territory and the first down runs yielded six yards each time.
amazing the excuses given to Caleb regarding the offensive line. Fields played with the same o-line and worse offensive players and yet he was the scapegoat.
Guarantee Bears get blown out this weekend... 31-13 but I am sure there will be excuses for Caleb. The only score will be the defense or special teams. At least they will have two field goals
Caleb IS learning!
Teven Jenkins is one of the best guards in football. Not everyone is an absolute 18-wheeler like T'Vondre Sweat.
The national and local media really needs Kayla Williams to be good they all picked this guy to be the next Hall of Fame quarterback the media sucks
We’re really going through this with a QB again😂. And then people are gonna try to blame the QB AGAIN.
Sweat and Coleman might be the new Williams brotherslike a coupe years ago in Baltimore
The Williams wall was in Minnesota
The Bears are ruining another high first round QB pick. I'm shocked!
I’m more shocked that you make a moronic statement after 1 game against a pretty good defense! Did you even see the game?! The Oline was horrendous. The receivers had 4 dropped catches including a touchdown that Keenan Allen dropped in the end zone which was an easy throw. Yes, Caleb had some bad throws also. He needs to improve that. Context matters.
@@bigdogstatus83 that is 3 dropped TD's in total for the game.
The Bears have never ruined a high first round draft pick QB
They played a team that was 6-11 last year and the bears were supposedly the best team ever to be picking #1 overall. There's your context
@@holdwhatdoor7629 Thats not context. So? The Titans also had a top 15 defense last year and improved a lot on defense this year with many predicting they will be a top 10 defense. Nobody is even denying the offense played poor. Caleb and everybody needs to play better. You have to give Titans defense credit. Their defense is very good.
Throwing deep on 3rd & 3 and throwing short on 3rd&15 is pure incompetence by the play caller. I assume the offensive coordinator or head coach? Fire whoever made those calls, no 2nd chances get rid of them
Finally, a talking head that actually watches film
It’s one game relax
Yall gotta change the sound over the F Bombs. Super irritating and loud. Just blank space please
You all scrutinize everything Justin Fields did but with him he was perfect in your eyes.
Everyone kept blaming Fields for holding the ball too long and making the OL look bad with all the sacks. Turns out the OL really is that bad.
Fields in year 4 and still sucks. Zero TDs, under 200 yards, can't beat out an old/injured Wilson.
Fields ain't it.
@@darkstark1949 stay in Chicago
@@runnin3216Caleb had a 2.05 TTT and a 6% sack rate. The line isn’t horrendous they just had a bad game against a good IDL (matches up with the Bears biggest weakness on O). We’ll see how it looks with Wright and Jones handling Will/Hunter this week and the Texans IDL being far less scary, theoretically, than the Titans was.
@@philsplip7357 93yds isn't horrendous? lmao
Nordberg was OJ Simpson
I’m concerned with Caleb’s size, both height and hand size, especially in cold weather. Harder to grip and NFL ball. It’s why you see Tua struggle. Hopefully it’s not a problem, but I’m concerned for sure
Huh? He's 1 inch shorter than Mahomes, and his hand size of 9 & 7/8" is bigger than the average NFL QB
This is his first real NFL experience, they know practice and a dozen preseason snaps do not count, so it is generating some film, and we will start improving. What was right is he won the game and did not have the game the other QB had, if you swapped the 2 teams stats it would have been a complete failure. You see how much time he had vs what he thought he had. Did he see defenders or miscalculate the guy couldn't make a play. Did he see open receivers early and throw before the defense knew what was going to happen or stare at guys and wonder. Purdy is approaching a 10 on seeing a play and defenders and just reacting when it looks perfect with an accurate throw, that is their goal.
He did not win the game. The Bears defense and special teams won the game
The bears didn't give Caleb Williams a receipe for success 😏 sounds familiar
😅
Simms loves Williams almost as much as he loves Zach Wilson lol. I know it was his first game, but that dude looked scared and overwhelmed the entire game.
He most certainly did not look either. The lack of playing in the preseason shown exactly why you play your rookies in the preseason. The game moved too fast for him, way faster than in college. Williams was completely unprepared for the speed of the game at the pro level.
That will happen when your interior line spends the game on their backside.
@@MeetTheSLAYERTime will tell, def not rooting against him. He is definitely going to have to stop getting the snap and immediately running left or right cause he is not out running guys playing for contracts lol
Zero turnovers and a win says otherwise.
He was getting the starter reps all preseason... something Justin Fields did not get his rookie year
It's crazy how its never the players fault anymore, if you suck or have a terrible game its the coaching staff that made you that way. . Wild!!!
Who blamed the coaching staff for a bad offensive showing? Oh wait, the coaching staff did, they said something about needing to open the playbook up for the offense. Meanwhile Williams stated he needs to perform better, and Allen wants those 3 dropped TD's back. No one outside of the coaching staff blamed the coaching.
Nate Davis only played 18 snaps.
They gave him a TD on his 3rd throw lmao
lol this man has hella weapons wtf … how did Chicago not put him in position?
I’m liking Chris simms takes? Lolwut?! I mean… all aboard the Cdub train. Choo choo
99% of people that saw the game are saying williams didn't look good at all he was scared and rushed and didn't make good decisions. And here they are blaming the bears not the QB in being bad
Nope it’s just fields fans saying Caleb was bad. The line and play calling weren’t good
@@Jackburtonsaysis that the same line and same play calling that Fields had?
Same line different play caller. I'd say that if you swapped the two coordinators wonder how that would've played out. Last one needed a quarterback like Caleb to run his scheme while Shane great with Geno... Maybe closer to Justin's talents with more under center work and complimentary run game.
But all the people who said Fields needed to ho and that Williams was the future kept telling us the OLine was great ans didn't need any revamp... now y'all saying the OLine is trash? Make up your mind on who you want to blame
Wow, the opium and excuses are wild right now. All we heard all offseason was how this was the best team to ever be picking #1 overall and how all they needed was a QB because defense was great, OLine was mid-tier at worst.
Then suddenly, playing a team that was 6-11 last year and getting tossed around only to have one of the most bone headed plays by a QB turn into a pick 6 to gift the bears to the win, but all we have are excuses for why it's not Caleb's fault? Bust...
THE TITANS DEFENSE IS GOOD. Stop pointing fingers!!!!!
Stop making excuses for Caleb Chris benchwarmer Simms.
Caleb looked like a 7th round draft pick not #1 overall. I think the hype vs reality is what has fans rolling their eyes. He was sold as plug and play and he is clearly not.
people do realize both turn overs by will were blitez by the bears we created that pressure for him to make bad decisions to cause those turn overs! Im tried of people saying will just messed up that not true!
Caleb williams is Chris's new Zach Wilson
This was cool and all UNTIL he says things will change next week cause the Texans D will be all over that bs.. uhh… he had less than 100 passing yards and zero touchdowns. Titans defense was outstanding and completely shut them down. We have one of the best defenses in the league, what could possibly be different next week..? He goes for 50 yards no tds? Realistically he will have a better game and more things will work vs the Texans than the first week
His first start ever. Would yall fucking stop? Lol There were guys will more experience that had a lower QBR that Caleb 😅👀
Nate Davis got benched fool!!
It was his first game in the Pros. New coordinator. New Reveivers New Running back New system
Jayden Daniels 180 passing 88 rushings and 2 TDs.. First game
On a team that EARNED the #2 overall pick through their play last year, as opposed to the Bears who were supposedly the best ever team to be picking #1 overall... oh and they played a team that was 6-11 last year, bottom quarter of the league.
Oh and Daniel's did that against a team that was 9-8 last year and played in the divisional playoff game... lol Bears blow it again
Horrendous playcalling gaming with our talent. Insane i thought we got rid of our bad OC but it looks like we got another one
caleb did not play well.
caleb said he
missed 6 throws.
He said he does not get nervous.
So it wasn’t nerves.
you guys can say…
“hey. caleb did not play well”
he will be fine.
But he just played poorly.
yes his line, played below average. so did the bills.
However, the OL can’t expect his timing either.
So
Say it with me.
“Caleb played poorly
but he will be fine.”
perfect spirals are not always the easiest balls to catch, sometimes a touch of wobbling actually makes for an easier catch.
He was over throwing guys he's got to get settled in. People need to relax let him settle in and adjust to the NFL.
2 3rd down drops that would have directly resulted in a first down.. and the other was a dropped TD by Keenan.. then a battled ball to Keenan that was wide open for a TD. Literally if those connect, different game. Missed some throws.. but NOBODY helped him out whatsoever. Line + WRs were bad.
Simms the ultimate caleb lover mahomes hater
Keep in mind that CJ didn’t start off great last season it took a few games before he took off & did great….
He had over 200 yards against the ravens
@@jlserna11yea most of those yards came in garbage time and they lost 9-25
As usual OL wasnt stellar in Chicago
Who let best buy geek squad on the set lol.
He did not win the game the defense did
So you are tellin me the bears are still bad? Shocking.
🤣
1-0
Undefeated
He’s a rookie QB, growing pains are expected.
Defense and special teams were elite. What’s more concerning is how horrible the oline was
No they have good defense
Bust
On the play k Allen dropped the ball you said it looked like a duck. If you look at. The tape you will see that it was slightly tipped be defender as KW threw it. That is why it was not a tight spiral. Not making excuses it still should have been caught.
Allen Betty Jones Shirley Jackson Kevin
Williams has high expectations on himself. When he comes down to earth, he will be fine.
The guy doesn't get to be where he is by not having high expectations.
He has years of expectations in HS and college under his belt. Lets give him a little slack for only one game of NFL experience.
I choose not to overreact.
Talk about Will Levis being absolutely terrible….
Caleb sucks. Overrated.
Based on what?
@@NoooTheWall32 93 yards
@@rjvicious3317 so 1 game?

Rumor has it that Kayla Williams might miss the next game because he broke a nail.
