Same with Trump too, really. And I'm not even making a 'Russians/Trump' joke, I just mean he says a lot of stuff and just does not do what he'd been promising.
And I mean, that "Project 2025" thing? He's denied having any idea about that, about ever seeing it, knowing about it so much that...I mean, with how much he denies even having known about it, I think we all know this means that he frrked it. It's the only explanation. :D If he truly hadn't seen it he would have been like, "Huh?" and instead he's like, "I like some of it, dislike some of it, never read it, I know nothing."

One big issue is the launcher doing "Shoot-n-Scoot". Fire a barrage, pack up, be gone before counter-fire can arrive.. @a64whatever is also right, though, A2A missiles are VERY different from AtG or GtG in most cases. Looking into the sky is a whole different set of problems than looking at the ground. Plenty of problems in both directions, but very different in ways you can solve those problems. Though, we as America are part of the problem because we wouldn't let them use long-range stuff to fire into Russia until just lately.
Plus, air-to-air missiles often fire 'shotgun blasts' of metal hexagons to 'toss a cloud into the path of their target', impinging on turbines or clipping wires/hydraulic hoses and so on. You may as well throw pebbles at a tank as use one of those against it. Even APC's would likely shrug off some of the most devastating of air missiles.

its worse than that. A minority was able to hold up the entire process for 6 months. On a simple up or down vote, there is 60+% support for Ukraine. In essence, old equipment and ammunition is being sent over for disposal in Ukraine rather than disposal in the USA. There are so many 'battle trucks' that they were given free to police department. The US has a superabundance of many military wares sitting around that could be reclaimed, remade, and sent to Ukraine. I mean not 20 or 30 percent more but 2, 3, 4, or 5 times as much. The US could easily equip the 11 brigades of troops that AFU raised, though the logistics would take a year. That would be Bradley IFV level equipment vs 'Russians on roller skates'.

The US navy has a surface to air missile that is even better than Patriot. It’s part of the Aegis system and the missile is called the SA-6. It can shoot down literally anything including hypersonic weapons. The Patriot can and has shot down hypersonic weapons. I’m not talking about just the Russian Kinzal, which isn’t a hypersonic weapon, but Russias actual hypersonic missile i forgot
The name of it the Patriot shot one down about 30
Days ago. So everything Russia does is sub par compared to western technology. Our ATACMs missiles destroy their surface to air
Systems the S-300 and S-400 practicly every day lol.

Every president since Truman has pointed out that Europe should pay more for its own security. I'm American and I assure you that Trump's (rather rude) comment about this during his presidency was entirely unoriginal. Obama was blunt a couple of times saying the same thing. Trump just repeated a common belief of the American electorate when he said "they" are "ripping us off". At some level most Americans agree. And depending on which European country we mean, it is more or less true. I had an argument with a friend in Italy last year who began complaining about American hegemony, control of their security, blah blah blah... I had heard it before. I recommended he vote for the Italian party which urges quitting NATO and providing entirely for their own national defense. (There is no such party). He was quiet after that.

Ironically though the only time that NATO came to a nations defence (under the treaty) was during 911 when EU countries answered the call to help the USA. Not saying that everyone can't do more. When you look at some of the smallest EU / NATO countries like Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania they are (by GDP) providing the most support to Ukraine. It's a fools folly when you get into silly arguments over who's doing the most or x country is the biggest supporter. As long as each nation is contributing to the effort I'm fine with that. There's so many incalculable things that go into the day by day events that unfold in the Ukrainians lives many of which are by unselfish people who wish to be anonymous but are trying their best to make a difference. FWIW.

You mean, that Europe should stop buying Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon hardware and use the money on their own military complex? Well, the F-35 program would be even more expensive than it was, there wouldn’t be such a demand for M1 Abrams which in turn would narrow GM profits and decrease factory employment.
I totally agree with you, but the Europeans wouldn’t spending so much in their military anyway, so not only we would be in a better industrial shape also US economy would pay a toll on decreased demand. Also, UK, Sweden, France, Germany and Italy would love. Our Next-Gen program is only waiting for the funding to be drew away from F-35

    • @carthagonova4132

II think it's less about the army and more about nuclear weapons. Without the USA all EU countries would start needing them, and that's not only a cost but also a risk.

Trump stayed in NATO. He sure did. Despite pressure from Putin. Leaving NATO would have been huge, as in, very huge. Huge enough to maybe have swung an election result. My guess is that Trump put off Putin with the argument that leaving NATO had to wait for his second term in office.
