- For several months I have been working on decluttering and changing up my quilt room! My goal was to have a less cluttered and brighter space that had more storage and was easier to clean! Come and take a tour with me! I really like my new make over!
I like it all. Love that you didn't paint your beautiful wooden cabinets.
Thanks! I am into low maintenance!
I loved everything but especially the Harbor Freight storage! Nicely done!
Thank you!
Wow! Your hard work on organization really shows! Super ideas! Thanks!
Thank you so much 😊
Wow! You have been busy. Looks great. Love your toolboxes from Harbor Freight.
You are most welcome! Thanks for watching and sharing!
I have a beautiful white tool box from Home Depot. My husband thought I was nuts but it is wonderful… he thinks I will tire of it and then he can acquire it … fat chance 😂
I think Wes would like to have mine also! He has the smaller one in lime green!
🙄 who's got time to paint and clean
🙋♀️ we're quilters 🥰 that's all we have time to do 😊💗👍
I retired and redid my sewing room and yeah, no painting that's time consuming and the knick knacks are gone too that's wasted time cleaning. My sewing room is simple and I can spend more time quilting. ❤ love the tool chest ironing station, great idea thanks
I agree!
I don’t blame you for not wanting to paint cabinets because you’d rather be quilting. Amen to that! The room looks very nice and organized now.
Thank you!
Love those tool chests too. I've been tempted myself.
They come in lots of colors! Have fun!
A neat decluttered space releases the ability to make more sewing progress. It's so nice not having to manage physical distractions and mental clutter.
It really does make a difference!
I'm glad you didn't paint your cabinets. I hate it when people paint cabinets or furniture.. it just ruins them. Looks great!
Thank you!
Looks so much neater
Thanks!!
Love your new look. Just three things…please get Harbor Freight, spray starch companies and quilt shops to move to Sw France. So very happy for you and sad for meLOL
You know, I never really thought other countries wouldn't have quilt shops....Thanks for watching and sharing!! I wish you had all three where you live!
I Love everything. So clean and organized.
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow! I love everything about your updated space. I saved this video so I can re-watch it a few more times for inspiration. I really like the way you’ve used the tool boxes for storage and the ironing station. Thanks for sharing your quilt room redo. It’s so beautifully organized. 😊
You are so welcome!
Hey u did a terrific job!!
Love these ideas, thank you for sharing!💡
Dont paint those gorgeous natural wood cabinets, they are beautiful, and your very fortunate!👱🏻♀️
Thank you!
Glad you didnt paint your cabinets. Wood looks so nice and easier to clea. You have an awesome quilting room. Such a great cutting station and like the height of it. Yea on your tool chests they are great so much storage and all compact.❤
My cutting table is adjustable in height. It works great!
The harbor freight tool boxes are my favorite. Maybe I’ll get myself one.
I really am liking mine!!!
I like that it looks comfortable to work in. I always work best in clean spaces! I am glad you didn't pain the cabinets, that would have been a lot of white.
Thanks for sharing!
This just shows that our quilting space is always a Work in Progress, isn’t it! Excellent job, Michelle! Well done!
Thank you Beverly! It really is a work in progress! When I find something I love though, I keep it around for a long time.
Love your new ironing station and storage
Thank you!
Love those tool boxes! Great idea!
Glad you like them!
Wow, it looks great 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!
Great job! Beautifully done...thanks for sharing your ideas....
You are so welcome!
Great job Michelle.
Thank you!
So pretty and calming. I could sew in this room. I just did some decluttering of my room. I just can’t think if to much is around. I also keep my extra machine one of them lol on a rolling piece under my cutting table. Thank you for the great ideas. I am with you don’t paint the cabinets. Love wood.
Thanks for sharing!
Love the iron station!
Me too!!! It is so nice!!!
Looks great love the ironing station
I think the ironing station and under cabinet rolling storage are my favorites!
Nicely done. I like the tool boxes.
Thanks 👍
Love your organization and sewing room!
Thank you!
Your welcome!
Okay, your idea for keeping things under your sewing area is brilliant! Love your uncluttered look. I get the same way and need edit things down occasionally. I like how you have your tv on the wall near your sewing machine. I’m trying to figure out how to fit one in my space.
Thanks so much! 😊
My favorite is the ironing station. I love the little drawer storage for rulers!❤❤
It is awesome!
AWESOME ‼️I really am impressed with the tool box storage/ironing setup. Great idea,
Thanks! 👍
Great Michelle. The light color on the tool chests make it so much brighter, also the decluttering is a big help. I bet you are glad you went to Harbor Freight with your husband now. I have a home depot husky tool bench for my cutting station and small ironing station. A 62" husky table that I can sit or stand as my sewing table, and just bought another husky tool chest for my embroidery machine with drawers and a large area beneath that I have 9 small totes of fabric stored. Lots and lots of storage in thos tool chests. My husband is so jealous of my Husky sewing room. All are matching white. I like your idea for the ironing station, I might have to get another tool chest. 😂
Lucky you! You must have a large room. My room is much smaller than what I use to have and it's a struggle to have an efficient room without over-crowding or cluttered. I love those Husky tables. I've looked at them at HD.
@@colleenbaker2310 I an wall to wall with tool chests, sewing table, rolling rack for my totes of fabric, and a QZone frame. I have iron large items in the hall.
I really like the toolboxes!!! Wonderful storage and easy to clean underneath! I would love to see your room!!!
@thesimplequilter7499 right now my room is in disarray, due to an electrical issue we had last weekend. Just got my quilting machine back from repairs yesterday. We're planning on getting it back in order this weekend. I'll tag you in some pictures on Instagram
I love the makeover you did. I didn't think you could improve on your space but it is fantastic. Harbor Freight should use you to demo alternative uses for their products. I have purchased some of their products for alternative purposes. The ironing station and other cart are my favorites but all the rearranging and decluttering is great too. I have kept my 1987 original wooden cabinets in my kitchen despite being "outdated" according to the latest trend. But I feel uninspired by having any room in all white and have a bit of wood in almost all my rooms, including the bathroom. And trends come and go. I tend to go with what i like not what is popular.
Great video.
I am at a point in my life where I want stuff in my quilt room and house that are low maintenance. It allows time to do the things I really enjoy!
Love what you did to your room. Suggestion is to put your electric strip underneath on the bottom of the counter (screwed in or. Use two sided Velcro).
I like your idea! Are you talking about on my counters or the one on the floor?
The tool chest ironing station is the best!
I agree!!!
Great space. Simple changes, but yet so effective!
Yes! Thank you!
You are 💯percent correct!!!
I love everything you have accomplished. I know you’ll be enjoying it.❤️😀
Good job Michelle😊
Thank you!!
Wonderful! The carts are fabulous! I hope you notice your iron’s on!
I did!
You have given me some awesome ideas. I especially love your ironing station. You have really brightened up your area!
Thank you and I am glad you found this helpful!
Nice and tidy. I like the idea of the rolling tool box/ ironing station
It is so much easier to clean underneath them!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Love what you have done ! I don't understand why quilters don't keep their fabric in closet ed or cabinets I converted my bedroom closet to my fabric closest I also keep my threads out of the light 🌞 I love what have with the tool box ,you go girl❤❤🙏🙏
Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
I really like the fact your room is inviting. Love the couch. So much storage, and we need it.
When my family members come in to visit they sit there. I use a couch cover most of the time so Milo can get up there.
Love your room! I love the color of your cabinets…my favorite cabinet color! Lucky lady!
Thank you so much!!!
There you go - inspiring me to declutter and clean and get things in order!! You made great improvements in your quilt room and i truly love all your improvements. I like your ironing station best! Good idea to leave those cabinets as is!! Painting cabinets is hard, detailed, time consuming work! You could be quilting!! Great ideas and thank you for sharing - another solid video!
Carol, Thank you for the nice comments! Thanks for watching!
Love your make over! I really like your wood cabinets.
Thank you so much!
Loving your decluttered look! Your cabinets are great the way they are. I believe if you painted them you would be chasing them constantly and wouldn’t look as neat. I love your ironing station. I need to decluttering my room as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
You are most welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting!
That first tool box is the one I wanted so bad, but did not have anyone to haul it home, and they don't deliver. I wanted it to put my accuquilt Go on it and leave it there till I could use it. But I would have used the drawers as you did. I guess it is good I didn't get it because now we live with our daughter because so much was going on with my husband. He has settled down here and not had any falls since the first week or two...but he lost so much strength.
I also love the idea of it for an ironing board.
I would be just like you about painting the cabinets...the ones you have are not dark, anyway. I do like the things you did to your room....
Rose, Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I am very sorry to hear about you husband and I hope he will be able to regain some of his strength.
This is fantastic!!! So much storage space! My favorite piece is the rustic barn door cabinets! I just got a new sewing space and thats all I want to do now lol the sew-Jo is back!!! Amazing how a clean and organized space changes everything!! Have fun!!!
Marie, My barn door cabinets are an oldie but goody for me! They can still be found at Wal-Mart. They have really held up well! Glad you have your sew-Jo back!
I hate painted cupboards. I personally prefer seeing the wood. Great choice!
Just a suggestion I used.
I hated the cords on the floor on my ironing piece of furniture I put in two short screws. I can slide my power strip off and on as there are screw slots on the back of my power strip. It is placed at just the right height that I use it to power off my iron.
On my sewing table I used some of those command hooks and hung my power strip as well as the cords. I have a few machines that set on my U shaped table. I no longer have to pick up up cords to clean nor do I ever catch my feet in them.
Anyway your room looks amazing. My new room should be finished in the next couple of months. I can’t wait.
I love your idea!!! Thanks for sharing!
I like the tool boxed
They are working great!
VA! VA! VROOM! You will really be speed quilting NOW!🚘🚘🚔🚔😂😂😂😂
It is wonderful!
Nice transformation of your sewing room. I love the Harbor Freight tool boxes you are using.
They work great!
You did a great job cleaning up & organizing your quilt room! Looks really nice. It's so much more fun & relaxing to spend time in a clean organized room. You can clear your mind & focus on the task at hand. Also getting rid of the old vintage nik-nak stuff was a smart move. One other thing that needs to go.......that old couch!! It takes up a lot of space & is out of style. If you need seating, a small comfy chair or stool would give you more space & update the look of the room. Knowing exactly where to find each of your quilting tools saves time as well. You gave us lots of great ideas! Good storage.
The couch maybe out of style perhaps, but it is a real treasure for me! It belonged to my mother and reminds me of all the times I spent sitting on it while we visited. My mother was an amazing woman and I can not part with it yet. My family members, as well as Milo, love to sit on it when they come in my quilt room to visit. Function and sentiment win over style at this point as far as this couch is concerned.
Looks great. What a nice space. I love the ironing station.
It is awesome and the area below can be used for storage unlike that of a typical ironing board.
Love the tool boxes idea!!!🤗❤️🙏😘🌹
Me too!!
You got the tool box! I eye that thing everytime i go in to HF. Good for you. Looks fantastic!
Thank you!
You’re so funny! I watched an earlier video where you talked about your husband’s tool box but you were happy with what you had. I can just see the wheels turning since then & you decided to dive in. They both look great but I think my favorite is your new ironing station. It I had space I’d do the same for an ironing station. 😊
Lol! His was just soooo neat!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Oh my! My favorite part is the tool cabinet with the ironing board on top!❤ Love your sewing room!
Thank you!
I love all that you’ve done. The reorganization of my sewing area is ongoing. I might borrow your idea of the ironing station. I’m not happy with an ironing board any more.
I am so glad you didn’t paint your cabinets. They are beautiful. I love the finish on them. Plus, an all white room just doesn’t appeal to me. I guess I like color too much. Your cabinets make the room warm and relaxing. To each their own though.
Overall, what are the dimensions of your space. I think you use your space quite well. I’m impressed.
The ironing station is a great addition! I have always used an ironing board but this offers a larger ironing surface and great storage! My quilt room measures 13' x 14.5'.
Love both of the toolboxes. Wish I had room for them.
I wish you did too!!! Perhaps one day you will have a bigger space!
Like the cabinet usage with the material behind the doors. Wondering if the light is filtered enough that your quilts on top are ok. Your harbor freight purchases are awesome. Probably much less expensive that crafting containers. I am in process of labeling my containers. It has helped so much. I am moving some drawers around and so labeling it taking time but now I can go to my 2” squares in one spot not opening 2. Or 3 drawers to find. You have made it so much more usable in your space. Want to do a design wall after I get the labeling done.
Hi Connie, I typically cover up my quilts on top of my cabinets and uncover them for filming. I also try to refold them and move them around on occasion. I also bought my toolboxes when they were on sale so that helped.
@@thesimplequilter7499 I understand the quilts. Love your videos and how you have reorganized. Looks awesome. Sales are nice. Thanks again for your videos
Elaine from up Michigan great organization skills I can use them. one idea tape extension cord to side or underneath table that will get it off floor. Alien tape works great!
Thanks for sharing! I am going to try to find a way to get it off the floor!
I wish I could afford those Harbor Freight items. My sewing room is so very small. It’s about 10x12, if that. Plus with a closet, a bathroom door, and an entrance door, plus a window, my room is so cut up. I wish I could afford a designer to come in and help me. I’m so glad for you. I love your videos.
Thank you so much Vikki! The toolbox I used for an ironing station is the most practical I think if space is limited because it provides and ironing surface with storage underneath. I did buy mine on sale, that helped some.
Oh my! I wish they were more affordable for you too! It's great that you have a window!!!
Look great 😊
Thank you! 😊
Looks marvelous Michelle! ❤️
Thank you!!
Love it all. Increased storage is always a great thing!!!👏👏👏🦋
Thank you!
It looks great, I think it is fun to move things around for a fresh perspective.
It is so nice to have it all in order!!!
Awesome idea for ironing and storage!
Thank you!
Good job!
Thank you!
Looks awesome!! Love your use of the tool boxes! Thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you!
Your quilting room is fabulous, Michelle. I particularly like your mobile tool storage cabinets. Very clever! Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
I love your storage tool carts
Thank you! They are working great!
Deffinatly the ironing center. Love the other tool chest also.
They both work great! I even have some drawers that really don't have much at all in them!
Very near and tidy! The tool box reminded me that I have an old sewing box that cantilevers out. It was my mothers and I am now planning on tidying out the bits and bobs that she left in it so I can organise all my things in it so I use it more. I think a trip to the diy shop is needed for an organiser for my buttons and poppers.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the tour! Later this fall I will be moving from a large quilting room to a much smaller space where I will seriously consider several of your improvements. The tool chests fit right into my use of “male” work stations that are so helpful!! Enjoy you excellent remodel!
Good luck oh your move!! Thanks for sharing!
My favourite is the new ironing station too and roll cart by your sofa!
Great job you have a wonderful space!
Thank you!
Those cabinets are awesome. I have looked in several big box stores for those. I have seen a few grey ones but most are red or black and look like they are for a mechanics workshop or garage. The white is just what I need. I wish I could replace all the mismatched cabinets etc that clutter my studio. My main problem in my studio is out of sight out of mind. Once something is neatly put away I can’t find it again. I hate the clutter and want to be organized but it is overwhelming. If I could just decide on one thing I want to create with I could get rid of all the things and change my 1,250 sq ft studio for something smaller and dedicated to one type of art. Either that or I need a much larger studio so I can get everything of the floor and into something that works for my art supply hoarder mentality.
Just start slow but start….it took me a long time and it is always a work in progress! I feel so much better now and it is so much easier to create in my quilt room!
@@thesimplequilter7499 👍
Awesome redo, Michelle. I love how you reorganized your quilt space to make it work for you and how you quilt. One day I want to get one of those large size cabinets from Harbor Freight. I love all the drawers they have. I would have left the wooden cabinets as is too. Great job. Thanks for the tips and inspiration!!
Thank you so much!
Fantastic! Your roll out dollys are an excellent idea! The first video of your's I saw was when you went to HF and brought home the magnetic bars and bowls. I've really enjoyed watching you ever since then. I love HF! Can you put links to some of your containers (especially the long one you keep your jelly rolls in)? Great makeover!!
Kaylee, I am so glad you are enjoying my channel! The roll out dollies are a back and knee saver!!! Here is my Amazon affiliate link for the jelly roll containers: amzn.to/3s81eQq
These work great! I have four of them and use them all!
I love your new storage carts! Also, I see you have a cutout on your design board for your outlet - how did I never think of that??? Thanks for all the great ideas!
It doesn’t look the greatest but it works!!!
Nice room :) I'm always looking for a better, more efficient space in my small room. I'm trying to adjust to a smaller space then what I use to have. The struggle is real....sigh. The only suggestion I would make to you is to find a different place for the quilts at the top of your cabinet. The light from the windows will fade the fabric over time. Ask me how I know. I'm glad you didn't paint your cupboards. I love the oak just the way they are. Last year, we had to have a total kitchen remodel and I tried desperately to have oak cupboards put in like I had in my house in AZ, but everyone looked at me like I had two heads. What I ended up with was white cupboards and although it makes the kitchen look bigger and cleaner, I still miss the quality of the oak cupboards.
Colleen, I cover my quilts with a folded sheet when I am not filming. I do this to protect them!
My sewing table is a work table from Lowes. It has a handle that lets me adjust the height. I, too, have a set of drawers from Harbor freight which my big steam press sits on. The drawers slide so easily on the metal table and cabinets. Perfect!
They are wonderful! My cutting table is adjustable also!
I love your sewing room esp. the new additions. You always have new ideas to share with us, it's heloful for those of us who are just getting started, so thank you very much.
You are most welcome!
I love what you’ve done. I like the tool box and ironing station the most. I need to do this to my room.
I sure do like it!!!
Your cabinets look great. Why fix something that isn’t broken. This updating to what people say is popular is so ridiculous. We are slaves to that. My sister asks me all the time why I don’t buy modern fabric. I love modern fabric but I only buy what I love. Your craft room looks amazing! The ironing station is brilliant. Your room is huge! Mine is so small but I make due. I think your set up is great
Karen, Thank you for the encouraging comments! I am into low maintenance!!!
Love all your great ideas Michelle! I must say, one of my most used and loved tools in my quilt room is my label maker! It’s the bomb!💥💕🧵
My label maker gets tons of use!!!
What brand label maker do you all use?
@@wandadahnke1186 Dymo
I am always amazed at all the lovely tools you have! Nice rulers and things I am sure you use. I certainly do not hace all those. I sort of crave an 18 squarw ruler for the few times I have big blocks to square up but so far have resusted because mostly I create smaller blocks. Your room is much lovelier without all the stuff in it. My one wLl is lined with a bureau and 8 plastic drawer units. They hold all my fabric. My closet has one top shelf which holds priject boxes for planned quilts and shelves below store my books, thread and tools. But it is clumsy as I also store a roll of batting there on end. My cutting table is on bed risers with dog crates underneath - they used to sleep in my bedroom but sometimes their movement disturbed my sleep so I devised this and it has been working out great. I have a small desk with my computer which is my total home office and 2 drop in tables for my machines. I have no place for a design wall so my bed serves that purpise as necessary. But I am happy with the space because it is all contained there with no flow over to other rooms with the exception of my wool which lives in drawers in a wonderful cabinet in my bedroom. I woukd have much more room for sewing/quilting in the master suite but I am not willing to give up the comfort of the bathroom and walkin closet at my didpisal there ... at least yet! Thank goodness I do not crave a longarm! I have no place at all for it and I do OK with free motion even on king size quilts with my HQ Stitch 710. At least for now I am OK. I love all uour wonderful storage ideas but I simply have no room for them nor do I have extra money to purchase them. Those rolling door cabinets sure are tempting though and would replace the plastic drawers in such a lovely way!
Those cabinets came from Wal-Mart and still are available. I have been quilting for 30+ years. I have bought a lot over the years and have slowed down a bunch. I also take good care of my stuff and it lasts. Your quilt room sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing! The most important think is that is works for you!
Where did you get or how did you make the pullouts with wheels? Great ideas. And I love your use of the tool boxes!
I have a video out on how I made them. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/xzWv_jY6KJo/видео.html
You have a very neat and efficient looking room. I think of you when we go to Harbor Freight and I see the toolboxes. If only I had room. 😂
Thank you!
Great job, looks great!
Thank you!
Fabulous ideas.
Thank you!
Michelle, you did a fantastic job! Thanks for sharing. I loved the harbor freight tool cabinets!!
Thanks so much!
Such a nice sewing room! Love how it’s all organized. I bought a tool box from harbor freight, too only I use it for tools. My sewing room has to hold my husband’s safe, drums, keyboard and his tools. Then, I have my daughters file cabinet for all her medical. It’s a bummer because I’d love to have his space, too. Oh well! Can’t have everything!
Thank you! Thanks for sharing!
How big is your room? I love the way you revamped your space! I love the cabinets in the room as well.
I think 14'x15' Thank you!
Your sewing room is so nice. I need to get my alittle more organized.
Thank you! 😊
Very nice Sewing space! I'm green with envy! 😜
Just an idea. You could move a few of your quilts to the top of your cabinets to add a touch of color, but also remove the weighty looking stack from that cabinet. I think if the quilts were scattered around it would brighten the room too. ❤️🤗🤫🪡🧵✂️📍
Great idea! Thank you!
@@thesimplequilter7499 yes I was thinking the same because light that would damage quilt fabric, would damage the finished quilts that are getting all that light from your window. Love how logical and well thought out all your new room design is!🤗💕☕️
I love your beautiful wood cabinets! It’s one thing to paint old cabinets that are worn and discolored. But yours are in gorgeous condition and they are warm.
It looks like you designed your quilt room yourself, and you did a great job. There is a station for everything and it’s well organized. I’ve been drooling over those tool chests for several years; but I know they are heavy, so I’m waiting on that.
I did swipe your idea for the dollies. I have my Sashiko machine in a large plastic bin, while I reorganize, and it’s heavy. So I put the bin on my dolly, which I already had, and now it’s a cinch to move around. So thank you for that idea !!!💡
Wes told me the toolboxes were on sale this weekend!
Wonderful transformation. I too am on mission to get more white in my sewing space. It really brightens up the space and the fabrics can provide the color while sewing/crafting.😊
It has made a big difference for me!
